How many trades do you really make? (1 Viewer)

Just curious.

Maybe it's just my leagues, but I don't see much trading. A couple per league per year.

People pretty much acquire players they like.

If they outperform expectations early, they aren't looking to sell. Obviously, they already thought highly of the player, as they paid more than the rest of the league for them(or drafted earlier).

If players get off to slow starts, they usually believe it'll get better (again, they like the player) and certainly don't want to sell low.

Outside of gross positional imbalance, I just don't see much trading. And that's rare, as people don't generally try to leave themselves weak at a position.

Frankly, I'm just not sure trading makes a ton of sense in fantasy football. It's not like baseball or basketball, all players contribute the same thing, "points".

Everyone wants players that score more points, so that doesn't lend itself to win-win trade opportunities.

Redraft not a ton .

Dynasty way more.

Me personally I don't trade a lot. Lots of talking of trades but never actually executed

main redraft league has 6 or 7 trades total each year. I've made 3 trades in 3 years and one was on draft day.

Based on the responses I'm way in the minority. I am not happy unless I'm involved in lots of trades. In my dynasty startup this year I"ve made 28 so far. This number is way inflated due to league contstruction being conducive to trades. I've sent out way more offers.

I've done 25 over last five years (2007-2011) in my main dynasty league, four more so far in 2012. I'd trade a lot more, but only a few other really active traders in that league -- most will do maybe 1-2 at most a year.

I'd say in 3 leagues there are about 15-20 per year in the 2 dynasty leagues and I am usually involved in 10 or more in each. I am not certain that it has helped my teams but I guess it makes me feel like a big shot wheeling and dealing. Eat it Jerry Jones!

In my money dynasty league:

2012 preseason and season: 8

2011 preseason and season: 16

2010 preseason and season: 3

In redraft/minimum keepers I probably average about one every other year. It just makes a lot more sense to trade in dynasty then redraft/minimum keeper leagues.

I tend to like to trade more than most.

In my one redraft league, I'll usually make 6-7 per year. Mostly smaller pieces, with the occasional blockbuster.

I play in four dynasty leagues, and the trade activity varies by league. My most active one, I'll average 10+ a year, while I'll be lucky to make more than 2-3 in my least active one.

I probably average about 1 a year in my dynasty league. I can only remember 3 in nearly 20 years of redrafts.
I'll add that the dynasty is a contract league with a salary cap, so matching up $$ is a big part of any trade. Also player values are dependent on the money and contract lengths. Its not as easy as player-for-player. A stud player with a low cap and long-term contract is far more valuable.

MFL only had the last 3 years transactions saved (2010-2012) for my dynasty league.

13 trades (7,3,3) with 12 involving at least 1 draft pick. Only 1 player for player trade. 3 were draft picks for draft picks only.

I don't think I trade much but I've made 36 over the last 4 years in my dynasty. I would have expected most to have more.

I personally make about 1-2 trades/year in my only league (12 team redraft BIG MONEY!!1121!1PLODE!11!). There are probably between 4-5 all season.

I find that most people just have difficulty offering a fair trade, seems like everyone typically isn't satisfied unless they can get their hands on a lopsided deal (at least on paper). I also notice that name recognition typically trumps on field performance.

Always looking to deal

Prior to this week, I own FJackson, traded JStewart/JWitten to DWilliams owner for AHernandez/Spiller

I was also very RB heavy and traded MLynch for HNicks. Who knows on that one

2-3 per year on average. My main league has fluctuated from 8-12 teams over the years, and I've noticed we trade more when the league is smaller. When it's larger, everyone seems to be hoping to find help on the wire before resorting to a trade. It also varies a lot by owner. There are a couple guys I almost always trade with at least once a season, and a couple others who I don't think made a single trade in the last 4 years.

dynasties, 5-15 per league per year

in start up years with pick trading, 20+

normally, the amount of trades i am a part of exceedes the amount of trades i am not a part of

3 or 4 a year in most of my dynasty leagues for me. IN most of those leagues, the league averages about 1 deal a week in season and preseason and 2 a month out of season.

1 maybe 2 a year in four leagues They are all sucky trades for me which is why I don't trade.

My drafting abilities make it impossible to improve my team via trade.

Redraft? A few 2-for-1 trades between draft and week 1 to get a better starter and free up a roster spot for the kicker I didn't draft. Then if I end up with more studs than starting spots I'll package one of them and a player at another position for an upgrade at that position. Usually get a couple of these done per year. Occasionally a late season trade with someone out of contention playing for next year (keepers) and is trading away their better players for better keepers - i.e. Demarco last year. Sometimes one or two of these.

All in all across my 4 leagues, probably 5-6 per year.

I trade all the time in one of my dynasty's (10/year?) but not as much in my other (I think only 2 in 3 years) - think it's due to their respective formats. Former is a salary cap auction contract league, a ot more trading options. Other is traditional except with a college taxi, seller's often keep their top guys because they have reinforcements on the way. Only trades were Bradford for LMJ and S Tulloch for a 1st round veteran pick.
