How many Trick or Treaters did you get last night? (1 Viewer)

Lived here 20 years and in that time we've had exactly 1 trick or treater. Somewhat rural road with a 45mph speed limit and no sidewalks. Coming from more of a neighborhood setting our first year we bought the "usual" giant amount of candy to hand out. Took a while to get through all of that. If anyone were to show up I guess they'll have to settle for a protein bar.

Maybe 50. Been getting less and less over the years. When my kids were young, we would get several hundred.

150. Our neighborhood gets hit hard. Lots of really good costumes and great energy. My only regret was saying "Nice sombrero!" to a girl who was dressed up as a mushroom and had made the outfit herself. I gave her extra candy, but the hurt look on her face is etched in my brain.

Got maybe 30 kids. It's been less and less each year. Back about 10 years ago, we were the cool neighborhood for trick or treating and would get as many as 150-200 kids. Basically just function of the aging population here...houses were built about 20 years ago. 65 houses in a closed (one entrance) circle. Mostly young families moved in and had kids immediately (13 kids who are now college sophomores out of the 65 houses). With way less young kids in the neighborhood, there are less trick or treaters. And with houses making less of a big deal of Halloween, we no longer get kids from nearby neighborhoods coming here. It's kind of sad.

I waited armed with bowls of full sized peanut butter cups, paydays, 100 grands, and snickers. We usually get enough kids that half of it is gone. This year, 1 girl dressed as Taylor Swift that I gave 5 candy bars. I love seeing the costumes. So bummed our hood is becoming geriatric.

We got about 9 or 10 groups of munchkins.

How about you?
About the same, my neighborhood just isn't good trick or treaters. It's kind of small and a bit isolated by a massive park so only get the real young kids who go out early with their parents. About 3/4 of a mile down the road is a trick or treating heaven so that's where most of the kids in the town go (and from out of town) go.

Our first 15 years here we got an exactly one.

Now we get about a dozen to 30 depending on the weather.

It’s was about a dozen last night but it was very cold here.

Over 750 (ran out of candy at 7:30 as more were still coming by). (I live on one of those streets where they shut down the road for trick or treating.)
I live on one of those streets too. But, we get a freaking TON of people. I gave out over 4,000 pieces of candy - one to each kid.
Wow!

How much did that set you back?

I spend about $700 on candy every Halloween - it's really insane. Non-stop from 4:30-8:30. Literally. I had 5 people over this year and we rotated giving candy all night.

Across the lake from you (Muskegon) had 11 inches. They had to postpone halloween until last night, thanks to the power outages.

I had some snow also, no kids. Haven’t had a kid in 2o years.

lets break it down if you handed out a piece of candy every five seconds 4000 pieces of candy would be 20000 seconds which would be about 5 and half hours and that would be an incredible clip and frankly even production workers dont bench that type of work for sustained periods without a break or without peeing in their pants so that seems unsustainable and probably contrary to several local laws now if we use a more sustainable figure of handing out a single piece of candy every 10 seconds which still seems absurd but lets go with it that means it took 40000 seconds or over 11 hours to individually hand out 4000 pieces of candy which seems a good spell longer than most communities trick or treat time window and which would probably raise several flags from local law enforcement such as is that guy really handing out candy or is he dealing crack now if we assume someone came to your door every thirty seconds which again still seems pretty aggro by the trick or treating community but lets run with it that means it would take 120000 seconds or just over 33 hours and 20 minutes which is probably some type of an osha violation and would probably be contrary to the geneva convention in at least three ways so color me duboious take that to the bank brochachos

We usually get maybe 25-30 total, not a ton of kids in my neighborhood. This year we had 4.

Third year in a row where we left a bowl of candy on the front porch with a "Take a handful" sign on it, and we left and took our kid ToT'ing around the neighborhood. Most of the houses with young kids do the same. My wife watches the Ring camera on our porch and will turn on the mic and scold anyone if they try stealing the whole bowl. I guess because of the cold, participation was way down this year. One kid came right at the start, and then finally around 7:45 one group of 3 kids came by. My wife turned on the mic and told them to just take the whole bowl so we wouldn't be left with the temptation.

Here's a video from a couple years ago of me handing out candy. It's non-stop for 4.5 hours - and this was early when it was slower.

That is crazy. Why is it like this? Busloads of kids brought in or something?

I live in Prescott which is in Nothern AZ. My street has had this crazy Halloween tradition for years. People go absolutely nuts decorating their houses, and they close the street down on Halloween so there’s no traffic.
People come from all over the state to trick or treat. It’s just a huge thing.

I would board up my house and make it look abandoned with the lights off and no candy.

F that noise.
