How much do I tip valet guys? (1 Viewer)

Clown Car

I'm on a trip with my bff. Her daughter paid for us to have a weekend trip away at a fancy hotel. It's so fancy we don't know what we are doing. We believe we should tip the valet guys. The parking fee is $20 per day. How much should we tip? Do we tip when we drop off the car? Or just when we get it? Or both? Or just tip on the way out at the end?

Generally you tip when you pick up the vehicle and I'd say that at a super fancy place--you should stick with $5.   However--I can tell you that I personally also tip the person that takes in my car as well and I usually say something like "if possible--can you park it kinda close?".    For places where there are lots of cars parked by valets (for example--vegas strip hotels)--that extra tip to the person taking in the car can easily save you 10+ minutes.

With that big ### car of yours with all the cheetos and puke and sippy cups and mcdonalds wrappers and sucker sticks and water bottles and diapers and pop up books on the floor?

$250 ought to do it.

It's her car. She only had 5. Youngest is 15 now. It's not that bad.

I agree with this. A tip is really only expected when picking up the car, and 5 bucks is sufficient. It’s nice to tip the guy who takes the car, but you won’t look like a total d bag if you don’t.

I hold out both fists and tell the guy to pick one. Both contain two quarters, so he can't lose. But then I give him all four quarters! One guy literally hugged me.

I tip $3. I consider valet parking an inconvenience and oftentimes a required one. I tip, but not $5. I mean, it already cost me $60 to park overnight to not have access to my car.

Alright don't keep us in suspense, what'd you gals out on the town do for fun?  Did any dudes approach you two lovely ladies?  Let us in on what it's like for two attractive, middle aged gals to go out for a night.

No dudes approached us. We may have looked like lesbians. We stayed within walking distance and she wanted a burger and beer so we went to hooters. There was a sign on the front that said "men: no shirt no service, women: no shirt, free food" so I unzip my jacket. My friend says "no!" I bought dinner for her birthday. In the middle of dinner another friend called crying and hysterical that her 13yo daughter had been arrested for aggravated stalking. Something about the blue whale challenge and trying to get another girl to harm herself.

Thats what middle age women do on a night out. We eat and listen and talk.

We got the car out to go to ikea. I gave the guy five ones like you see on tv with the handshake. I looked cool.
