How Sad is the State of NFL QBs? (3 Viewers)

You act like a dearth of quality NFL QBs is something new.
No, I’m reiterating that it’s a continuing problem.
There have always been a lot of serviceable starters available and, every now and again, one of them catches lightning in a bottle and wins a Super Bowl (Hostetler, Dilfer, Foles, Favre etc)
Excellent 2nd half of your strawman. ;)
If it's always been that way it's not a problem it's a simple reality.

And, that's not a strawman it's a fact. Teams do manage to put it all together with a less than average starter.

And sometimes a less than average starter comes in and puts together a magical season even if they don't win much. Jacoby Brissett is a great example of that. I bet the Colts would love to have him under center right about now.
I bet a lot of teams are kicking themselves for not bringing in Brissett this season.

I, for one, am kicking myself for giving him up in a trade for Mixon 2 years ago.
Two years ago that looked like a very good deal, even in super-flex.
I also gave up a 2nd and a 3rd IIRC.
No one cares about your fantasy team.

😛
My mother does, and she wants you to know this was a very hurtful thing to say. She said I should report you but I’m no snitch.
She's only saying that to boost your confidence.

Back atcha.

backups have always been scarce. But there's been a nice influx of talent the last few years. It seems very few teams are desperate for a starter. SO....disagree...it's better then it's been in a long while.
I realize Rivers coming back started this thread...COlts are to blame for not working harder to find a viable backup. Plenty of teams have one...a couple have more then one

Wait until the kids that grew up with Pandemic Covid bs,not being in a school almost 2 years, phones n video games thier only entertainment.
Seems like a ton of soft parents now a days. Too scared to have thier kids play football.
And having thier kids playing stupid soccer instead of football..it lessens the talent pool .

i had read something a while ago….along the lines of the best athletes are usually QBs. but they are multi sport talents. so, would you rather gamble on getting knocked around playing football and maybe succeeding and having your earnings window limited or would you rather play baseball during nice weather, have maybe a 15 year career and make boatloads being mediocre or piles being above average. also, the best african american athletes also tend to gravitate towards hoops due to the same theory. they see guys making 25-50mm per and don’t get killed.

What also happens is some backup comes in because everyone else is injured & they deliver the best QB play the team has seen all season. So why are they on the bench to begin with?
