How the hell does Chuck still have a job? (1 Viewer)

Chuck has just been a horrible coordinator, the defenders have also shown a lack of fundamentals with terrible tackling, thats kinf of an understatement, HORRIBLE tackling is probably a better word, if he cant teach something so simple as tackling what can he teach?

His play calling has been about as predictable as a defense could possible be with alot of 4 man rushes no blitzes I hate that god aweful prevent defense, a prevent defense just prevents your team from winning. Our defense is the worst in the league, and alot of blame should be pointed directly towards Chuck.

So let me pose the question: How does Chuck still have a job?

The part that I can't get over is how he misses the ball every time Lucy holds for him.

Oh, not that Chuck.

This is quite possibly the most intelligent thing I've ever seen you post.Cincy's D isn't all that bad. But, when they go into this "prevent", all bets are off.Same goes for the Eagles.......when they fall back into this mode near the end of a tight game.....I just want to crash through the TV and strangle Jim Johnson.

Plenty of the blame falls with Chuck. The tackling is horrid, the rumors of corners Deltha O'Neal and Tory James crappy in-season attitude (they were apparently the prime targets of Dexter Jackson's rants last year), and the questionable playcalling are all on Bresnahan.

Still, this defense doesn't have a single playmaker. Unless you're a huge fan of Takeo Spikes, there hasn't been an "identity" to this defense since the days of David Fulcher. Better fundamentals would be nice, but when you're continually taking chances on the John Thorntons, Bryan Robinsons, Tory James, Deltha O'Neals, and Dexter Jacksons of the world while spending most of your draft/cap effort on the offense, the defense is going to suffer.

In Bresnahan's defense, I guess you could call a more aggressive defense but this crew has proven it can get burned just as crisply (and probably more quickly) when you leave the secondary alone to bring six and seven guys in pressure.

Unless they get Brooks coached up superfast, this defense is destined for another bottom third finish in 2007. If you believe what the coaches and insiders like Dave Lapham have said, the team has focused on tackling and preventing big plays every season. There just isn't much talent to coach up.

I'm coming around to your way of thinking though NB. There's no reason to continue to settle for mediocre records given the talent on offense. I think Marvin is safe almost no matter what this year, but I don't have any problem putting Bresnahan firmly on the hotseat.

I dont mind a prevent here and there but he doesnt mix it up at all, its so predictable that its no wonder we have the worst defense in the league

I’m pissed Chuck's still here, he should have been gone this year, and waiting to fire him will cost us valuable time. The Chiefs made a similar mistake when they had a high powered offense and a horrible defense and gave Greg Robinson another chance, all that did is waste a year and by the time the defense was average the window had slammed shut. I just don’t like the lackadaisical attitude that the defense has been handled with, we just don’t know our priorities, we waste a 1st round on a RB then wasted another second on another RB who's known to be injury prone when we have an all pro already. We take a defensive linemen in the 6th friggen round! Unbelievable, we desperately need a defense end and a defensive tackle and we take a friggen RB not even a good one in the second round.Pathetic
