How would Peyton Manning feel if (1 Viewer)

Sitting here watching the game and I was thinking of that commercial with Peyton Manning where he said he realized he was good when they started calling him Peyton and stopped calling him Archie's boy. Just as I was thinking this they cut in on a shot of Eli as they went to commercial and I am likely to bet the Eli has always been thought of and referred to as Peyton's younger brother.

How do you think Peyton would feel if Eli were to win a Super Bowl Ring before he does?

I am sure that he would be happy for him on some level but also feel would be more pissed and jealous then happy for his younger brother.

I think he would go through 4 stages ...

Happy or excited for Eli
Pissed / Jealous
Indifferent
Resentment

Yea, I realize that it is quite possible, even likely that neither one ever win a Super Bowl. But ... if Eli were to win one, I think Payton would be less then happy.
I'm sure the whole Manning family is rooting for a Manning to win a Superbowl. The only thing worse for Peyton than not winning a Superbowl would be if no Manning had ever won one when all was said and done.

By the time the G'ints are a team that could compete for the Bowl, Peyton will be nearing the ewnd of his career - the G'ints are pretty far away right now.

Methinks Peyton is safe!
:goodposting: Boy does Eli stink. 20/20 vision is great to have on trades but Philip Rivers, Shawne Merriman plus more is a slam dunk win for the Chargers and I couldnt be happier.
Don't need 20/20 vision.LOTS of people (people as in teams) thought Rivers was the better QB prospect. If Eli wasn't a Manning, I doubt he'd be a 1st round QB. Rivers had a far more impressive college career, it's not even close. But the Giants felt if he's 75% of Peyton, he's still a top 10 QB.Oh well.

Are you all trying to say "hindsight is 20/20?"Regardless, noone outside the five burroughs thought that trade was a good one for the Giants when it took place - not sure what changed in three years except that Mannin is WORSE than advertised, which makes the deal look even BETTER for the Chargers, but it lookd really crappy for the g'ints to most outside observers anyway, so now we are just arguing about what degree of crap the trade was.

Yeah the deal was largely questioned by most people when it was made. Now that Rivers is playing, it's getting worse.

You know what? If Rivers flopped, the deal STILL woulda been gold for the Chargers b/c of their hits on Merriman and Castillo.

Castillo wasn't part of it. It was Rivers, Merriman, Kaeding*, and Oben**._______*Technically it was Kaeding, but the Chargers had back-to-back picks at that point and took Kaeding with the Giants' pick and Nick Hardwick with their own. The order didn't really matter since they were back-to-back, so you could substitute Hardwick for Kaeding if you want.**The Chargers got a fifth-rounder from the Giants as part of the deal, which they traded to the Bucs for Roman Oben.

I don't know how many teams had Rivers rated ahead of Eli. But if you compare their college performance, Rivers was far superior. I stole this off a Giants' message board:
chew on these stats from philip and eli's senior years:

Eli Manning: 147.5 (NCAA rank: 20th)

Philip Rivers: 166.7 (NCAA rank: 2nd)

advantage: Philip Rivers

Eli Manning: 61.7% (NCAA rank: 27th)

Philip Rivers: 71.0% (NCAA rank: 2nd)

advantage: Philip Rivers

matt schaub (uva) was #1 with a 71.** percentage. y'all should pick him up as a free agent and replace eli manning.

Eli Manning: 3,341 (NCAA rank: 10th)

Philip Rivers: 4,016 (NCAA rank: 2nd)

advantage: Philip Rivers

Eli could win a Super Bowl first. I don't think he'll stay with the Giants. New York's best players are getting old (Tiki, Strahan) and the team might look different in a few years. If that happens, look for Eli to bolt to a contender. Even before he was drafted he was dictating where he wanted to play. You think he'll show any loyalty to the Giants?

I say he picks a nice place to manage a team that has a great defense (according to Archie's analysis) and puts himself in position to win a title. Unless the Colts put it together this year I'd say he has a good chance to win one first.

After the Ryan Leaf DISASTER, the bolts did a nice job trading away the rights to Vick and Eli for quality players.

How would Eli feel if Rivers won a Super Bowl first?
LOL.....The Mannings are so conceited. How can one think Eli > Rivers + Merriman.....Karma would keep Eli out of the big game forever, and bring Rivers many many wins.....Plus, after Eli's debacle last night, it is only a matter of time before the Giant faithful start to rain D-Cells at him......
