Hunter Cantwell: Great example of the dangers of coach rhetoric (1 Viewer)

More than a few people completely discounted Jimmy Clausen just days into camp because "he couldn't even supplant Hunter Cantwell" and fell into the notion that Cantwell was looking great. Yet, when 53-man rosters are complete, the Panthers dump Cantwell and keep Tony Pike as the 3rd QB.

For having a head coach that purportedly likes vets and experience more than most, the Panthers are heading into the season with perhaps the least experience QB corps in the league.

The Panthers are the third youngest team in the league. If they didn't have their old kicker John Kasey, they would be the youngest team in the league.

Not necessarily coach's rhetoric. Several beat reporters said that Cantwell looked good in minicamps. I've seen both Cantwell and Pike play in person and I think the Panthers kept the wrong 3rd stringer.

Pike looks disinterested at times and is too frail to make a difference at the pro level IMHO.
