A number of people have said they're staying in the path of this thing.  Thought I'd put up a thread where you folks can check in and let us all know how it's going easily, since we have several days of this coming up and we will want to know that you're alive and well.  I'll update as it goes if people will say who they are.  So far I know for sure the following are staying:

Just check in here and I'll add names and check in times.  Feel free to pm me instead if you'd rather and I'll add check in times.  This storm is going to be nuts.

I will gladly feel silly if this thread is unnecessary.
Newest info is in this edit.  Couple things:

1. Next edit I will likely remove everyone in the Carolinas.  We're glad you're okay, but doesn't look like you'll be in the path.

2. Capella evacuated and will likely also be removed.

3. There may be some mistakes with times - I'm trying to put everything in Eastern time, I'm in central, and most updates say "x posted this four hours ago."  So that's reasonably easy when I'm not hung over and exhausted.  But then I drank and stayed up all night. Let me know if anything is wrong and I'll fix, though obviously the important check ins haven't started yet.

Should start getting hit by this thing in Florida shortly, if not already. Good luck everyone and say hi when you're all clear if not before.

I know only one person in real life that is in FLA.  Old friend of the family. He's near Naples.

That's pretty safe, right?
Correction:

Just found out he lives outside of Orlando.  Seems he's not going to evacuate. He's got hurricane-proof windows.

ETA: Tampa. He's outside of TAMPA.  My mom doesn't know much about Florida.

Checking back in, left Orlando at noon and drove to Boca Raton based on Irmas overnight westward movement in under three hours via the FL Turnpike.

I must've passed no less than 250 bucket trucks that were heading south in order to restore powerand remove trees where necessary. All of these trucks were from out-of-state companies. It was pretty impressive to see all the resources being mobilized, but strange at the same time because I was heading in the same direction they were.

You drove from Orlando to Boca Raton before this hits?

We're still in Jacksonville.  Son drove home from  Tampa (USF ) this morning.

Wind and rain today from NorEaster not Irma.

Expecting squalls late tomorrow and a little worse Monday

Yes it is. Would you rather be in the West Palm Beach area right now or Orlando/Tampa area 200 miles from your home?
These things are all personal choice.  I am expressing only surprise, no judgment from me in this thread as to what you decide to do.  Stay safe and good luck.

Still hanging out. Im officially locked down til this thing is gone. Not leaving the house til Monday night at the earliest.

The drinking has started.

Wife freaking out..... people on Facebook are saying tornados in the area
It's not just Facebook.  There have been a number of tornados popping up, with video.  Currently one that should be in Weston after springing up in Plantation and is quite large and dangerous.

Hope you're hunkered down, and all goes well and stays safe for you and your family.

I live in Houston.  We had over 140 tornado warnings in two days.  Tell your wife to try and not freak.  Most tornadoes generated this way are just the teeny EF0 and EF1 sort.  They just aren't that scary.  None of the Oklahoma goodness at all.  On the other hand, if you have a trampoline, it's toast.

Looks like its back up, live cams really make for a surreal experience wonder how much longer they will stay up.

Guy sleeping on the street in the Duval one.

So my cousin, her husband and son (2yo) and her BIL, wife and 3 kids are sheltered at his employer's warehouse in a conference room in Ft Myers.

More or less what's on her mind.  She thinks it's going to take down our whole block.

What's the story there, do they live nearby? Hopefully this is a newer/very safe warehouse? Did they consider evacuating?

Very new warehouse - large company built it to withstand CAT5 winds.

They bought into the easterly track a couple days ago. They live just west of 75 close to the airport.
