I am starting Kolby Smith OVER ___________ (1 Viewer)

starting KSmith and CTayloroverMLynch (obviously :( )MBarber :X (may have been a mistake)EGraham :sadbanana: JChatman CBenson  i have got to win this week against a very formidable opponent. figured i have to go with the big upside to even stand a chance.
Barber would have been the start and that was before his performance. Barber has been fairly solid and you had to expect a big win for Dallas. FWIW I have Bush, Kevin Jones and Kolby for my 2nd spot and I didn't start Kevin Jones.
normally, i think you are right. that last few weeks tho barber has $#!+ the bed for my team. like i said going up against a very strong team, and basically rolled the dice that kolby does something against oakland. i can all but guarantee that barber's points would not have won me this game anyway. we will see.

WOW!

As a Chiefs fan I'm thrilled to be wrong. Not only are his stats impressive but the guy looks VERY good. The Chiefs OL didn't suddenly turn into the Vikings, and while it is the Raiders, of course, he ran hard and physical.

He hasn't shown us this kind of talent yet but I'm loving it.

If only he could catch the ball. At least 2 drops already. Looks great running though. Looks like he is fighting for his job with every yard.

At Super Flex over:JP Losman, Kyle Boller, and one out of Santana Moss, DJ Hackett, Lee Evans
Starting Kolby Smith over a QB? Now that is insane. I just don't get where this kind of hype is coming from.Obviously Losman & Boller are not ff studs, but both are a lock for at least 1 TD. K Smith is probably gonna be even worse than Holmes, who could barely muster 60 yards & did not score in 2 starts. I would expect both those QBs to double K Smith's points this week.K Smith: 18 carries-63 yards, 3 catches-11 yards, 0 TDs. 1 FL
I'm starting him over a QB that already played... K.Clemens and his 6.7 points should be tough for Smith to beat. He is a QB was he a lock for 1 TD? Unless they say ADP is the starter and will get the majority of carries, he is the other guy I'm starting Smith over at Flex.
My bad I should have started a QB and his 1 TD lock in place of Smith. I love how people talk on this board like they know everything. They play the games for a reason.

Starting Kolby over Thomas Jones. So far so good. He may not set the world on fire but should have better numbers than TJ did.
worked well this week. we'll see how it plays out in the future. I don't expect LJ will have to fear for his job tho.

Are we talking about a RB controversy here? He is looking much better than LJ has looked all year.
:lmao:
Kolby looked pretty dam good!
I played him and am, of course, happy with the production. That being said, there was nothing remarkable about that game except how pitiful OAK is on defense. I'm reminded of how many folks here were talking about putting this unit in the "elite" group based on last year's performance. But, they were awful, missing tackles and assignments. I would not be too bullish on Smith going forward, but he clearly has the ability to run through really, really bad defenses. So, he's got that going for him, which is nice.

It was the Raiders....Start accordingly going forward.
I did start Smith. I was making fun of the guy that said start a QB like Boller over Smith. Smith against Oakland or K.Clemens against Dallas was a no brainer for me. But "start any QB over Smith guy" thought we were crazy for giving up a "lock" TD.

If you can still trade....get what you can for him because he won't be playing OAK every week.

On the flip side I think it's safe to say whatever starting RB is playing OAK is a lock for 100+/2-3

KSmith 28MBarber 19CTaylor 12EGraham 12CBenson 4MLynch 0JChatman MNFnow, if only i would've started MIN Defense!

Shoulda started him instead of fat #### Lendale White vs the Bungles. Loved seeing the play where he couldn't punch it in from the 1 at the end of the game......Nice.

This is very.... :goodposting:

Totally passed on this guy on waivers, and ended up playing against him this week. Unbelievable. I go against every player's career day.

So, what is the word on LJ's return? Seems like K. Smith is worthy of starter consideration every week until another back puts on pads, simply because they don't have anyone else to give the ball. His days of 150/2 tds are over, but at a flex spot even 70/0 could provide value.

Agreed. Look at what Chester Taylor did this week after blowing up against the Raiders. He turned in an average game.

KC's offense is 27th in rushing attempts, 31st in rushing yards, 32nd in rushing YPA, and 30th in rushing TD'sOAK's defense is 28th in rushing attempts, 31st in rushing yards, 32nd in rushing YPA, and 32nd in rushing TD'sWhen a rushing offense this bad faces a rushing defense just as bad (or worse), who gets the nod? I think you have to also look at the passing game...KC's offense is 14th in passing completions, 16th in passing attempts, 16th in passing yards, and 25th in passing TD'sOAK's defense is 2nd in passing completions, 2nd in passing attempts, 5th in passing yards, and 3rd in passing TD'sOne could try to argue that OAK's horrible run D is because their pass D is so good. But, if that were the case, wouldn't their YPA be better than 32nd? The reverse is also true. Sure, teams don't try to pass against OAK, but even when they do, wouldn't the passing yards be better than 5th, and the TD's be better than 3rd? I think it's quite clear that OAK's run D really does suck, and that their pass D really is good.If you are in a pinch, Kolby isn't a bad option I guess. I think he is truly a boom/bust this week, and will either get you less than 5 fantasy points or more than 15, but not in between.Who am I starting him over? Another boom/bust guy named Ron Dayne.
teams are always ahead of the Raiders thus teams run all day against them. Not saying they aren't stronger against the pass but teams leading run more often than when trailing
I disagree. Teams run 53% of the time vs OAK (who are -43 in points scored) because it's easier to run on them vs pass. Teams just happen to get their lead by running against OAK. For the above statement to be true, let's look at teams who have been trailing more often than not this year:- Teams run 39% of the time vs MIN (who are -15 in points scored)- Teams run 43% of the time vs BUF (who are -69 in points scored)- Teams run 55% of the time vs NYJ (who are -97 in points scored)- Teams run 59% of the time vs MIA (who are -91 in points scored)I doubt any of these teams have held a lead more than they were trailing (I didn't check that, but I assume few will disagree). Teams are going to play to the defensive weakness of other teams.
Good posting with the stats...But, if you think teams don't run more when they have a lead you are mistaken. NE may be the exception now (but they could also be the reason why the AL East has high pass ratios?)

We'll see what the kid is made of against the Chargers, whose run defense is stout.

Although I still don't like the idea of judging a RB who plays in an offense with no passing game and no offensive line. Kinda hard to do your job.

Sell high

Chiefs RB Kolby Smith

It sounds strange, I realize, considering he just rushed for 150 yards in his first career start. But hear me out before you shut your computer down. The Chiefs have one of the worst offensive lines in football. Larry Johnson, who said he will return this season, was ready to boil over in frustration before he got hurt. The Chiefs face the following teams: San Diego (3.0 yards per carry allowed in last three games), Tennessee (sixth in NFL vs. run) and Detroit (tied for ninth vs. run) in three of his next four games, which is a far cry from a Raiders run defense that had been gutted all season. This is as good as it's going to get for Smith, and if he’s your third or fourth back, his trade value won’t get any higher if you want to upgrade elsewhere.

Who is in a position to sell high? Haven't most trade deadlines passed?
