I am the drafter who _________ (1 Viewer)

Thought this would be an interesting thread...

When it comes to drafting, what are you known as within your league (Assuming you play in a private league amongst the same opponents each year, so a reputation is built)

*** I am known in my league as the guy who tends to almost always pick out the stud Rookie WRs from the pack.

So... who or what are you (besides the bets drafter on planet earth, of course)?

by making numerous trades/free agent acquisitions, more than 75% of his drafted team has turned over by week 8.

... takes Calvin Johnson in the 1st round... I've had him on my team in my 12 team redraft every year since he was a rookie.

It's gotten to the point that as soon as it gets to me, almost everyone says it before I do.

Unfortunately, after this year I don't think I will be so lucky going forward. I've had multiple other owners tell me they will snag him if they are before me next year. :(

It's definitely interesting to see where he goes in redrafts next year... I assume he takes Andre Johnson's spot as the #6,7,8 pick in the first.

In our dynasty league, I am known as the 4th round rookie bargain hunter. I have picked up so many great players in the 4th round in the past 3-4 years that it is crazy. It got to the point last year where I acquired multiple 4th rounders simply based on this fact.

My history in the 4th round:

2007 - Mike Bush (can't find actual pick #). Have held onto him thus far, and he has been a nice fill-in, just like last night. :)

2009 - 4.5: Ramses Barden. Hasn't worked out for me so far...

2009 - 4.12: Mike Wallace. My Second WR in the round has panned out quite nicely so far, I must say. :)

2010 - 4.1: Charlie Whitehurst. Kept him until this season, when I traded him once he got the starting job.

2010 - 4.7: Aaron Hernandez. No explanation needed...top-5 TE.

2011 - 4.3: Denarius Moore. Certainly looking like the real deal this season.

2011 - 4.6: John Beck. He was out there, and I picked him up (2 QB league, so starting QBs are RARE)

2011 - 4.8: Alex Henery. Was trying to catch the Philly kicker magic from the past few seasons. Not great so far.

I am known as the drafter who....

... always waits to take a QB until after everyone else.

As a result, this year, I am also known as the drafter who.....

.... is mired in dead last.

I am the drafter who selects IDPs early and every year seems to stumble on the next big rookie LB. I am the owner who who likes to make trades - good, bad or indifferent - the roster by week 13 will have about a 75% turnover from the roster drafted.

I'm the drafter who goes out of his way to get super wasted during the draft... also the 2 time defending champion

to be fair, there is quite a bit of boozing going on, but i usually take it to another level. always take 2-3 bears with my last picks. took erik kramer last year.

also am i super active owner, prolly to a fault. offer multiple trades a week.

Always drafts the most RBs in the first 6 rounds (at least 4) and always last to draft a QB. Have won the last 3 of 4 years.

I'm the guy who starts of WR-WR-WR every year. Except now it isn't so viable. Last couple years it netted me all three of my top receivers, but now other people are trying to do it. I still don't take any RBs before round 6, but if the trend that emerged this year continues, then I'll have to grab value at RB instead.

Who likes to get wasted during the draft, then takes off ALL his clothes, and starts to play with himself at the draft table.

...spends a lot of time doing research, watching video and keeping tabs on breaking news and consistently ends up with an average team while other guys just show up, pick random players and dominate. Whyyyyyyy?

Who drafts always the top RB who's falling in a deep hole after a career/great year (S.Alexander, L.Johnson, LT, CJ1K, Hillis) or are on the verge of a breakout and never reach this verge. (I'm looking at you P.Thomas, Moreno and F.Jones!)

According to your sig, your teams' QBs include Drew Brees and Mike Vick. Everyone else got a QB before those guys were gone?

I am the drafter who is known for spotting great young talent at all positions but giving up on them too quickly.

[At least for my "start 2 QB" league]

I am the drafter who always goes QB-QB to start the draft. Though I've won 4 years in a row and this season I noticed half the league is now following my approach.

I am also the drafter who always reaches to get Aaron Rodgers. I'm a transplanted Eagles fan living in Wisconsin, and I needed help finding a reason to get into the Packers. As long as I get him in one of my leagues I'm ok.

...gets really drunk & goes to the bathroom (usually #1 & 2) in his pants during the draft cuz I'm too focused on the draft to get up & use the toilet. Whenever someone asks if I smell something, I say 'it must be the dog'. It's always a challenge leaving because of the extra luggage in my pants.

Who has yet to take a QB early in any of his league, but unbeknownst to his competition in one incredibly, terribly, obscenely skewed scoring systems in favor of QBs...this is the MF'er who is going to go QB-QB in a start one QB league in 2012...Rodgers/Brady is like a Fawcett/Hawn sandy in the '70s...intend on being that blatant.

I've been doing this also for the most part, I think this method is catching it on, especially after this year. Don't know if "known" for it, as the clowns in my leagues may not notice and I don't advertise it. But I am known to make the playoffs every year.

picks last because I always win...just kidding.

I am the drafter who has several first round picks because I trade away my bench talent in the off season. It has gotten to the point where I actually get responses to my trade offers saying things like, "this is a good deal for me, but I don't want to be the guy who gives you another first round pick."

Never drafts a QB in the first 4-5 rounds, yet always ends up with one of the top scoring QBs (Cam Newton this year, Vick last year, Schaub in 09, and Aaron Rodgers his first year starting, 2008).

Stock-piles RBs at the back-end of the draft, all of which whom never pan out or end up being dropped before they do, only to be scooped up by some lucky turd with a higher waiver claim.

I've gotta be known as the guy who openly mocks people's picks when they turn out to be golden (foster last year, newton this year)

Makes me feel like a genius.

...nabs an up-and-coming prospect that looked stellar in pre-season, has a great situation, and who is on very few people's radar.

Good example, A.J. Green in the 7th of a 14 team/13 round draft over the likes of Roy Williams, Crabtree, etc.

A rousing cry of "Who the hell is A.J. Green" went up, to which I replied: "You'll see, suckers."

Indeed.

I have become known as the one who trades his stud RB's for multiple 1st round picks the year they get hurt or hit their wall. I traded Priest Holmes for multiple 1sts the yer he got hurt, and a few years later traded LT for multiple 1sts the year he hit his wall. Turned LT into McCoy and Nicks through that years draft thanks to Shark Pool posters.

The guy whose first-round pick always gets put on IR by week 3.

My 1st pick is known as the "kiss of death". Has happened 5 out of 8 years.

I was known as the Tight End Hog. We have 3 flex spots so could start 4 TEs if we wanted. Drafted Gates, Witten, Gonzo and Winslow the same year...and won.

Now, I'm not known for anything. Changed things up since then.

if that rousing cry went up the college football/NFL draft knowledge of your league is lacking lol

You play in a league where people don't know the #1 running back taken in the NFL draft?
