I have a fear of bees/wasps (1 Viewer)

Can I do anything to get over my fear of bees/wasps? If they're near me, even withing 20 feet I can't relax. I never take my eye off of them. If they get near me, I wave my hands around uncontrollably.

I'm not allergic or anything, just don't want to beee stung.

I am allergic to wasps, so I am not a fan. But let me tell you that bees and wasps keep to themselves. They almost never #### with your ####. The way to avoid freaking out about bees and wasps is to ignore them. If you wave your hands frantically, that's making them agitated. It's the yellowjackets that are annoying. If you ever have a yellowjacket bothering you at an outdoor meal, take a piece of meat (they don't call them "meat bees" for nothing), place it on the edge of the table, and the yellowjacket will surely take the bait. Then when he goes for the bait you can crush him in a napkin.

wasps are much more aggressive than bees.. honeybees and bumblebees, are for the most part, not interested in you.. wasps are nasty.. .. I've been attacked unprovoked just walking on a trail.. the little bastid divebombed me and stung me on the neck.. I killed him...

Don't tell me this. If I get stung by a wasp I'm dead in a few hours.

 Bumblebees could care less about Humans. They love sages, but never bother me in the least when I'm working in the flower beds. More often than not, they're feasting on a sage within a few inches of my head and not even giving me a moment's notice. I love Bees and go out of my way to keep them around, and happy. They pollinate my flowers and vegetables which I can't give enough thanks for. Not a fan of wasps.

i took a hit from 1 of THESE guys a while back while clearing brush. heard the wife yell, HONEY RUN! oh, i ran...just not fast enough. still have the scar. i thought he was going to be able to carry me away.

Dude, I'm the type of guy that misses something right in front of my face, and this happened: A few years ago, the breaker tripped in my house, and I need to run outside to flip the switch back on. I'm staring at the switches for like 10 seconds before I realize there's a little wasp nest in the box with like 20 wasps in it! I called the city, and they sent a guy over. He burned out the wasps and the nest with a blowtorch. Now THAT'S metal.

I am horrified of them....I have made my wife get them out of the car before, and would sadly probably throw my 10 year old in front of a pursuing one. I am also frightened of accidentally swallowing one, so I keep a cap on my beer at all times whenever I am outside.

me too.. I knew a guy that got stung on the tongue by a drunk yellow jacket

Holy ####ing ####.
i really was lucky because there were a handfull of them and i was in the catcher's position with bush cutters. i only took 1 hit to the back of the leg. i would not have wanted that to the face, as the leg kind of blew up.

If one of those bit me in the leg I'd cut my leg off.

Don't you carry around an Epi pen?

No, used to. Obviously I need to again. The only reason I haven't is we are so close to the hospital.

You are not alone. The little ####ers are a scourge upon the earth. In junior high football, I used to run away from them even in pads :bag: :moneybag:

Opened up my storage bin this spring where I keep all of our deck furniture cushions for the winter to find a big ol' yellow jackets nest and the were not happy. Two of then stung me right through my socks. I got out of there in a hurry and returned with an industrial sized can of raid. Bees and wasps don't usually bother me and aren't nearly as aggressive. But yellow jackets are bad news.

I just killed 30+ yellowjackets today. Took out 2 partially built nests with some bug spray. That stuff kills those suckers almost instantly.

Oh and i can't stand bees either.

if you were wearing tube socks with shorts you deserved it :fro:

Actually I was still dressed in my work clothes. Mrs. CE's sister had stopped over to visit and we decided to have dinner on the deck. I've never liked my sister-in-law much.

:lmao:

My mom gave me a tray full of transplanted plants. I kept them outside a couple days until I found time I could plant them. I reached down to grab a chunk of plants, and I felt a weird vibrating coming within the plant. It all happened so fast that I guess I didn't even notice it. It didn't hurt at first, but I did notice that something was sort of moving/bumping into my middle finger. then it hit. the pain just shot up into my finger, but I was picking up plants, so I was in full grip. I let go and the little b@st@rd flew away. It's not like he came up to sting me...I actually unknowingly grabbed onto him with a squeeze.

this all happened in less than a second. Not allergic, but still plenty painfull. There is still a little black spec from where I got stung...this was 2 weeks ago.

My dad used to destroy bee and wasp nests with aerosol hairspray cans. The generic cans were much cheaper than Raid and all those other name brand bug sprays.

Timely thread... was just watching TV 30 minutes ago and saw the shadow of something flying around near the ceiling.. Looked up and it was a wasp :goodposting:

Killed it with a shoe-box lid. :D No idea how it got in here, never seen one inside before. I'm a little paranoid that I'm going to get attacked by an army of them in my sleep tonight as revenge.

Got stung last night by 2 ground wasps while mowing the grass last evening. My thigh and foot look like I have some kind of elephantitis now. Can't even slide my foot into a sandal. Dr. put me on doxycycline and prednisone. Never had a reaction like this and I've been stung a number of times before.

Evil, evil creatures.
