I have two elite TE's (1 Viewer)

Don't want to turn this into a specific thread for my team but I am sure there are other owners in the same pickle.

I want to trade one of them but the depth is too deep at TE this year - most people are willing to ride it out with their said options.

What have you guys got for your #2TE that you consider to be very very good. I was thinking about rolling the dice and asking the CJ owner (who needs a TE) if he would be willing to trade.

I've been offered Law Firm BJGE for Vernon Davis. I turned that down. Unfortunately more TE injuries need to happen if you really want to get fair value for depth. The other TE I own is Tony Gonzalez.

I am in the same boat. TE's are avery tough sell this year given the early season depth at the position.

In one league own Gonzo and Rudolph. Although Rudolph is not elite, I figured I could try to sell him for a RB/WR but no bites. In another league I've got Fred Davis and Chadler. As much as I would like to improve this position, I am not willing to part with any of my top WRs or RBs. I would rather ride these guys out and see if other options emerge. I'm not buying and I can't make a sale.

I also own the Vernon Davis/Tony G combo in one league and like others the trade interest has been way too small. People will irrationally stick to their faith in the Greg Olsen's and Jared Cook's instead of giving anything of significant value at WR/RB. As a seller, it's frustrating that TE's don't fetch near market value, or what market value should be. It is what it is.

But I also don't think it's a bad thing to hold onto the 2nd elite TE, because you never know about injuries. In "reality football", TE's take a lot of punishment and go down often. In one league where I have Jimmy Graham, I'm thankful that I have Rudolph on my bench until Graham comes back healthy. It's frustrating at times to have a stud TE on the bench, but it's unwise to sell low without seeing what you might need in a week or two.

I've got Celek and Daniels on a bunch of my teams. Will probably be holding onto them until after the bye weeks unless one of my mild 'lowball' offers gets accepted. (Something like Daniels for Law Firm)

I actually did the opposite in another league I am in.

Already owned Hernandez, Gates, Fred Davis, and Bret Myers (can start up to 3 with flex).

However, I offered Miles Austin + Fred Davis + 2nd rounder for Gronkowski and Brian Quick. I had Austin, Roddy White, Wallace, Stevie johnson, and Britt on my bench at WR, so I figured I could take the Austin loss to shore up my TEs with Hernandez aching and Gates underperforming.

Still not sure if I made the right choice or not, but even with the TE depth, getting Gronk was too much to pass up. :excited:

This happens fairly often with QB, not much different IMO.

This year I have Brees and Peyton in redraft, can't get much interest in trade as anyone with a guy they view as top 12 is unwilling to give much to improve.

So I keep both and am covered during Brees's bye week or in case of injury.

But certainly make them available.

I moved Vernon Davis for Frank Gore straight up. I have Owen Daniels and Jimmy Graham but we can start 2 so one of the three was expendable.

I was willing to give up Gronk and Donald Brown for Tony G and Reggie Bush. It has been a blessing so far as Tony G is on fire and now I have a legit RB2. The owner who got Gronk turned around and traded him for VJax and Janikowski.

Yeah, I've got Graham and Gonzalez. Nobody wants to trade right now because these other guys are scoring every week. Heath Miller, Chandler, Bennett, Rudolph, etc. Now people are scared of Graham until he shows he's alright after the bye. It's a good problem to have, but not so much when your WRs are the shallowest in the league.

I have Olsen and Rudolph. Neither is top tier but they are serviceable. While I'd love to be able to trade for a more consistently elite option at the position, I not willing to trade a solid rb or wr to get it. I'd rather just roll with what I have for the rest of the season, play the matchups .

I'm talking about elite options guys - not Olsen and Rudolph.

I'll disclose my TE situation - I have Tony G starting and Hernandez almost ready to go. It's a short bench in my league so I'd like to move one if possible.

If you can sell Hernandez on name value, I would go for it. Or wait for a big game. The Falcons seem determined to make Tony G's last year a great one (assuming he is actually going to retire), and I don't see it letting up. How are defenses going to double cover him, Roddy, AND Julio while keeping enough people in the box to deal with Turner?Gonzo has been great - I see no reason for the ride to stop until he wants to get off.

I know but i was tryingto give you the other side of the potential trades' viewpoint, which is me. If we were in the same league, id be a team you might target and pedal one of your 2 elite TEs to. I would say no to both otf those guys if you wanted one of my starting wrs or rbs in return. You'd have to sweeten it in a multi player deal.

I'm not so sure Hernendez is still considered elite. Elite enough to trade and good value would mean probably top 7 at the position. I own Hernendez and I don't even put him top 7 for the remainder of the year. In fact, for the remainder of the year Dodds has him at at TE11. Obviously you won't trade Tony.

Make sure you look at the end game. All 7 of Tony G's TD in 2011 came in Weeks 1-11; he disappeared in the fantasy playoffs, and Hernandez exploded.

I have Vernon and Witten and can't seem to move Witten and a WR to upgrade at WR and it's mostly based on principle that people won't deal with me unless they get Vernon. I believe in Witten and am willing to sell Vernon high if it gets me better value. If any of you are in similar situations, but are attached to your TE1, I'd suggest you move him bc a lot of owners don't want to trade for the lesser of your 2 TE's, even if they are upgrading their own team. Either that or I'm just in a league with a bunch of stubborn idiots.

:goodposting: I'm complacent (for lack of a better word) to keep Witten on my bench week in and week out with Vernon starting. IF I can't get value for either, I just won't make a deal. It is very frustrating though, especially with bye weeks coming up it really hurts your roster value and ability to stash some upside RB's.
