I hear this alot "Brees is better than A.Brooks" (1 Viewer)

Brees is clearly the better fantasy QB.
In the past and with different teams, Brees was QB7 in 2005, QB11 in 2004, QB26 in 2003, and QB18 in 2002. Brooks was QB16 in 2005, QB8 in 2004, QB5 in 2003, QB6 in 2002, and QB6 in 2001. Past demonstrated performance favors Brooks.Brooks has R. Moss, Porter and Jordan in Oakland. Brees has Horn, Stallworth, McCallister and Reggie Bush in NO. I think it's relatively equal in their new teams.

I think the key factor is ADP -- Brees in QB 15 (ADP 92) and Brooks is QB18 (ADP 102). I'll see who falls further and try to draft that QB in most of my leagues -- I think that approach maximizes value.

I agree with the above poster...I wouldnt touch Brees without Gates and LT, and then he also have shoulder issues....unless he fell really late in a dynasty draft. And then i would be trying to ship him off if i did.

Just like in my draft...I think Brooks represents incredible value. I took him as my 4th qb behind Vick Lienart Rivers.

8.10 94 Gunnin' Gnus Brees, Drew NOS QB Sat Jun 3 7:32:56 a.m. ET 2006

11.07 127 THE GODFATHER Brooks, Aaron OAK QB Sun Jun 4 11:57:47 p.m. ET 2006

Only took here there cause there was a QB shortage and he offered me the best short term potential. ANd it will let Rivers and Lienart develope.

You know, any other QB would get a pass for last season's troubles considering the circumstances, but instead it seems all Brooks gets is haters throwing bad stats in his face. I don't think it's a coincidence that Brooks worst season came at the same time his home city was almost blown off the map, but people were just looking for a reason to get bash him. Drew Brees is going to see first hand why the Saints are the worst franchise not just in the NFL, but in all of sports.

As someone who has watched every single game Brooks has played, I can say that Brooks is a horrible game manager and can't make a decision to save his life.

I remember there was an article a few years back about a guy who did pshycological tests on QBs and could predict who would fail (Rivers, Couch). I doubt the Saints ever did this for Brooks, but if they did; I'm sure he would tank.

That being said Brooks is a better FF QB than Brees.

The Saints under Haslett probably set league records for pre snap penalties. It was almost always 1st and 20, or 3rd and 30. Add to that the Saints Defense was constantly ranked 30th or worse while Brooks was there. Say what you will about Brooks' leadership abilities, but I would bet you couldn't find a QB that has "won" many games under those conditions. I would also guess that may have caused him to press a little bit, increasing his INT total, and perhaps explain some of the boneheaded plays we always talk about.

I'm not saying that Brooks is Joe Montana on the wrong team, but he isn't nearly as incompetent as some make him out to be. I think under the right circumstances, he could be a successful NFL and Fantasy QB. Unfortunately, I don't think his situation has improved much this season.

We'll see.

Okay I've had enough. Now I have been a brooks fans since he took over for Blake. I agree that the 2004 season where he really made some crazy plays that made you say wow, what was he thinking. But he also has puts up very good numbers over his short career and has proven that he CAN be a very good NLF qb. The only reason he was benched last year was because he spoke his mind and he was having somewhat of a down year but it was to be expected and he shouldn't be blamed for it.Now on to the discussion about who's the better qb Brooks or Brees. I dont get where all of you are saying that Brees is a winner and Brooks isn't. Although I must admit that play Brees made in the Superbowl to win it was priceless. I dont know have many career wins both guys have but I do remember about 2 years that one of these qb's was on his way out of town and the team went as far as drafting another qb with the #4 pick in the draft. And if Brees was such a better qb and such a winner why isn't he in san diego again.

Now as far as decision making Brees played for a coach that didn't allow chance taking and was a conservative so yes Brees was force to make better decision and fewer mistake. That being said Brees only had one big td year. Now I do give Brees his credit he is very accurate and he does make good decisions and whether it was his weapons are not he did use them. So I am not the one to bash Brees.

I do think that Brooks is a better FF qb by for. NFL qb who knows for sure but we will see what Brees does with what Brooks had. I just dont think it's fair to say that Brooks is not as good as Brees and brooks shouldn't be a nfl qb and such. And to say that brees is a winner and brooks isn't is crazy when brees hasn't won anything more than brooks.

I worked with a former NFL scout, and he told me that New Orleans is a brutal place to coach and/or to play. He said that the city has a lot of distractions, and that doesn't lend itself to the discipline required by the NFL schedule.

So maybe Aaron has a chance to rebound :D

How much of Aaron Brooks stats were in garbage time when the other team was in a prevent defense? Brook's couldn't do anything until the game was out of reach, and then he would finally put up some numbers to make the fantasy guys happy, but not the true saints fans. Brees will be a nice change if he's healthy.

A lot of it was garbage time, but he also led a bunch of comeback victories in the 4th. Of course anytime a team is as bad as the Saints have been defensively, there will be lots of garbage time stats, and opportunities for comebacks. I just don't think Brooks was the reason the Saints didn't make the playoffs.I do think that getting Brees was the right thing to do. The city has really come to hate Brooks, so the Saints needed to make some changes. It's not often that a pro bowl QB gets let go during his prime playing years, so the timing was really perfect for making the change at QB.
