My school had an assistant principal who used to be a guidance counselor, but he used to make a BIG deal about how he used to be a major league ball player before that. He would volunteer to autograph things for people and bring up his career as a major league baseball player whenever he could. I got curious and looked him up. The guy had played about three or four years at the pro level but never got any higher than AA ball. Sure, he got a lot further in professional sports than I ever did, but to hear this guy talk you'd think he was just a couple of votes shy of Cooperstown.

I'd love to tell you that my respect for him dwindled, but I didn't have much for him to start with. It only reinforced my opinion of him as a d-bag.
