I kind of feel bad (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
I can have a very dry sense of humor and I guess sometimes people don't realize I'm joking around.  And that can be funny to me because a lot of times, I don't care if others laugh.  It's more about making me laugh.

Anyway, we have a new receptionist at our front desk.  She's a super nice old lady and is all about going above and beyond.  So earlier this week, she decorated the entire lobby with Christmas stuff.  It's pretty amazing.  When I walked through, I was like, "Wow.  Looks good."  And she was like, "Do you like it?"  And I said, "Sure.  Of course, I don't see a lot of Jewish Christmas decorations."  The joke being that most Jews don't celebrate Christmas.  Yeah, not really funny.  But I was just trying to get that weird reaction out of her.  Which I did.  She seemed stumped.

Well, apparently she wasn't.  Because I came in today and now there is a bunch of blue and white tinsel and Christmas tree ornaments.  Not Hanukkah stuff.  But blue and white Christmas stuff.  As I stop to look at it in shock, she says, "What do you think?  Now it includes Jewish Christmas Decorations."  I told her I was incredibly impressed.  And that was me being honest.

But I do feel bad that our office has no Jewish people in it but now has Jewish Christmas decorations because of TheIronSheik.

Years ago I had no idea that blue and silver were Hanukkah colors. I just liked the way they looked and copied them for my own house. Pretty sure that made my neighbors think I was Jewish.

I didn't know that until just now.
Ditto.  I always learn something new when I come to the Free for All....hahahah

and don't forget Festivus on Dec 23rd...…..

Sounds like you could learn a lot from her. Good for her for trying to save face for the both of you. So what are you gonna do now?

I can relate to you. I'm that way myself sometimes. I'm working on smiling more. Like, a lot more. And that by itself has remedied a lot of the confused responses & negatively received ideas. Also, just being more thoughtful and sincere with my interactions with others has people respecting me in a more effective way. People like to feel like they matter and that they're important. So going the extra step to include them as part of the "intended audience" has pleasantly surprised a lot of people. How often do you smile at people during the day.

My wife always gets mad because I'll say something and she'll go, "That's not funny."  And I'll say, "You weren't the intended audience."
That's especially funny if it's only the two of you.  My current wife doesn't find it funny either, especially when I introduce her that way.

I like to go the extra mile.  So instead of just smiling at people, I try to go above and beyond and actually laugh at people.

I'm proud of you for admitting to your policy of hiring based on religious bias. The first step to overcoming an issue is admitting you have an issue!

So in your ideal world, there are three wise MEN?  Thanks for your misogynistic views on the Nativity scene.
Why do they have to be wise?  I'm sick of this war on the handicapped and mentally ill in this country.
