The only comedian right now that she really like is Jo Koy. I did check to see if he was anywhere near us in the next few months and no go.

She doesn't like spas.

She has several massager things now.

She would prob not be happy with my brining home a puppy.

The movie thing actually brings up a great idea that I had had a while ago and forgot about.... she LOVES movie popcorn, so I will swing by the theater and get her a bucket of movie popcorn.

She isn't much into fancy dinners. Before kids we would go out occasionally to nicer places but she is prob as happy going to a local BBQ place as she would be to Morton's (prob the most fancy/expensive place we went to with any regularity)

The funny thing is that she is super easy going on dinner. It is fairly rare for her to shoot down a 'howabout _______' suggestion for dinner and if she does it is because she happened to have had that type of food at lunch or something. Yesterday for lunch is a great example....

I suggested a local Mexican place. She said no because we will have tacos tonight (a meal delivery on the meal tree). She suggested another place using Upside and I told her I have tried it twice and then we don't get the payout on Upside so she was like, oh, ok, that sucks. A Jimmy Johns was close by us and had a deal on Upside and she was like 'sure'. Boom done. I luckly don't have to go through the "what do you want to eat?" "I don't know, whatever." "Ok, how about Mexican?" "No" "How about Italian?" "No"..... on and on as some of my brethren out there have to.

might be my biggest pet peeve with my wife.... then throw in the extra indecision with my daughter.... :wall:

I don't think she wants to make the 50th a big thing in general and she isn't into parties either and even more so now. The kids have been confused on how old she is because she always tells them 29 or something.
My dad was like that. I had to sneak into the bedroom and check his driver's license to find out when he was born.

My kids are always unsure about how old I am because I am always unsure how old I am and have to do the math.

For 50 I’d want to do something special, and favor an experience over material gift. Any way you can afford a trip somewhere she's always wanted to go, but defer payment?

My wife is a big tennis and Federer fan, and I wanted to take her to see him at the US Open. The problem was, her birthday was several months before tickets went on sale. So I just got her an apple, Federer’s signature Wilson racket, and wrote a nice card describing my intentions to take her to NYC.

The initial gift cost a couple hundred bucks, though the trip + tickets were a lot more down the line. Still, I had time to make those purchases.
Just stumbled across thread. Along the same theme as this, a friend of mine got his wife (who is a big tennis fan) a tennis lesson with Mats Wilander.

It’s super easy to update from your phone too, so you can keep adding new pictures over time. My wife loves hers because it keeps special moments right in front of her every day without needing to mess with printing or framing pictures.

That's amazing. I had multiple jokes here, but I'm so impressed I decided against all of them. Kudos to your friend.

What's that?

I feel like I should know what you are referring to but have no clue.

Massage/spa treatment, if she's up to that.

And then... Jewelry, if she's into that. After the year she's had, she deserves something special- especially at 50. Something that will stay with her.

But I get it if funds are understandably tight.

My wife is impossible to buy for.. I've finally realized to just get her something remotely close to what I think she's like from a place with lots of other options and a good return policy so she can inevitably re return it and get something else.
She doesn't like massages by strangers and not in the spa thing either and only let's me give her one when she is up for special alone time which she will not be up for for quite a while.

Jewelry could work but for what she would want it would cost a pretty penny that would make it hard to do right now.
Can you give her the massage without the special alone time?? That’s what I would want. Massage without no expectation of having to do anything to pay for it.

My husband turned 50 during Covid. I got all our friends to send a message and made a compilation and we all watched it together. Since she’s struggling with health anyway maybe they could send encouraging words, things that she did that meant something to people. Funny and light heart Ted though. Not like good bye.

I hope she powers through.

Nah... she melts in my hands and gets all horny. :lmao:
