I met a real sweetheart behind the bar today... (1 Viewer)

Curious what her side of the story would be. And I have never in my life worried about a waiter/waitress stealing my credit card. Ever. You aren't responsible for the charges even if they do.
you all know that the businesses end up eating the cost of fraud resulting in higher prices for the consumer right?

If this were a popular member of this board you wouldn't see a tenth of

the grief MOP is getting. Yeah he could've paid cash but didn't.

She got the axe and deserved it. End of story.

yeah honestly the story isn't thread worthy at all but he did nothing wrong

I actually don't see the problem here. Seems fairly obvious she was planning to steal your card info. Probably was already pizzed at something that had absolutely nothing to do with you. She took your card to a place it had no business being and got agitated when you called her out on it. Seems like a classic guilt response.
Well if she was stealing the info, she'd have already accomplished it. So what's the upside here? He'll need to go through everything anyway if that's what she did. If she didn't, he just cost someone their job because he was paranoid.

WRONG, She cost herself the job.

nightmare and minister of pain, huh?

the story sounds made up or exaggerated and given the poster's history, I'm siding with the waitress.

as for restaurant prices going up because of credit card fraud? give me a break.

Disagree. I skimmed the story. You've got a busy bartender tending to a lot of ####, running his CC for what equates to a $1 tip is prob not the top priority, so he prob has to wait. Who knows what she was doing, I'd say the odds are fairly low she was stealing his stuff. She has drunken idiots galore to choose from, why the guy ordering one beer?

Furthermore, who knows if any of this actually happened or was just imagined.

To me this reads as someone bragging about getting someone fired for something stupid, IDK how anyone can see the OP in a favorable light after this story. Whether it was a favorite poster or someone I don't like, my opinion on this story would be the same.

Obviously the manager disagreed. If, for some reason the machine at the bar can't read cards, you explain that to the customer and go straight to the nearest machine. You don't make a pit stop at your purse.

Here's my theory, and it's just as plausible as Sean's...

Instead of ordering from the waitress, Mop chooses the less customary thing to do. Girl is annoyed. Mop orders 1 beer and pays with a credit card. Girl gets more annoyed.

Suddenly, girl becomes aware that she is starting her period. Judging by her ease to get annoyed, this makes perfect sense. However, girl is not prepared for the menstrual flow. She searches back behind the bar for a tampon. No luck. She proceeds to the inner bar to get one out of her purse. But Mop's paranoia gets the better of him as he immediately is accusing her of stealing his cc number. Because everyone steals his cc number, obviously this girl is no different.

So, to make this short story longer, Mop's misogynistic impatience prevents him from being a little sensitive to this working girl's dilemma. Ultimately resulting in her losing her job over the holiday weekend. And to add insult to injury, he gives her a merry effing Xmas to boot.

Good job Sean. You're a gem!

Even if everything posted is factual to a T, the fact that he comes on here and starts a thread to brag about it, makes him look bad IMO... & I don't see how someone can disagree with that.

HEY, I JUST GOT SOMEONE FIRED BC THEY MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE BEEN DOING SOMETHING WRONG, LOOK AT ME!!!

None of it is true. He spends his entire life trying to come up with vapid stories that enrage the reader. Why do you think he left for a year? He was out of material. This story is as true as all the rest which is to say they are as real as Santa Clause.

For someone that allegedly ran a bar, you really seem to be missing the point on the bar area vs. seated area. Pretty sure that move pisses off every service person I've ever met.

The table was tiny, it was out of the main restaurant, I was being proactive walking up to the bar. She is waiting on others sitting at the bar, had every intention of giving her a nice tip and going my way. I did not want to have to get a bill and wait for some dingbat to bring my check, well within my rights as a customer and if you could have seen the set up you wouldn't post that.

I do understand what you are getting at, maybe I didn't do things right. I actually did open the exchange with "Sorry, I guess I was supposed to wait for someone?" She could have asked me to sit down or tell me someone would be right with me. I asked permission to buy the beer, she didn't have to pour it if there was a problem.

Is anyone else shocked that MOP has only worked a short time in each of these industries he's been in

I used to have these things happen to me but then I grew up and learned not to be such a hothead.

MOP stories over the past decade absolutely sped that process up.

Rationalization 101

If they get that upset that quickly and easily, they likely shouldn't be in the service industry.
