I rode a subway for the first time in my life this past weekend (1 Viewer)

My girlfriend and I are country through and through. Not like hillbilly, but we enjoy the slower pace of life and vast fields of emptiness in the country. Our 10 year old daughter, on the other hand, was mesmerized by the big city. We visited my best friend and his girlfriend who live there. They are very well off and live in a beautiful apartment across from the NYSE. They pay around 7 or 8 grand a month for the place.

Our daughter said she wouldn't mind living there when she grew up. I had to explain to her that if she lived in NYC, she most likely wouldn't have a place anywhere near as nice as theirs. At 10 years old, I don't think she quite understood just how much of a difference there would be between their place and a place for someone just starting out in NYC.
ah... so they live in a studio.

glad you and the family-type unit had a good time. I hope you obeyed the rules of the road here.
They actually live in a fairly huge apartment. I was surprised at how big it is. I'm kind of estimating the price since he didn't tell me the exact number. I know he said that there were smaller ones that ran around $5g a month. But that the top floors of his place go for around $11g a month. They are both very well off. He makes probably about $300k a year and she makes around $500k a year.

West Side Highway.
Is that where I was?
Probably, if you were in Manhattan.
Or FDR... 50/50 shot, so might as well claim one of them.
Where are you seeing the SOL from the FDR? I guess I've never taken it all the way down to the tunnel, so I don't know.
Reread the op.

"heading towards the Statue of Liberty", which I read as heading towards the ferry.

Oh... so enough to qualify for a 1br. Gotcha.

Clown's post just made me remember driving with an old client of mine down the FDR in his M5? the guy did gumball rally regularly and in this case was following a motorcycle as it weaved through traffic at around 80mph. :whiteknuckle:

I couldn't se the statue. That's just the direction in which we were heading. If it makes a difference, I think we were going there from St. Patrick's.
