I saw a guy eat corn on the cob with a fork tonight. (3 Viewers)

What a heathen.

Everyone knows fresh corn has been out of season for more than a month!!!

I cut off the kernels with a knife prior to eating.

I just don't see the upside in eating straight off the cob. I would get fibers caught in my teeth pretty much every time. I learned to stop trying to swim upstream.

Also, usually, when I'm eating CotC, there's something else I'd like to add in (roasted, diced chiles, onion, etc).

You're not eating corn on the cob if you take it off the cob.

Very well then. I prefer corn very recently removed from the cob to corn on the cob.It makes sense to cook corn while on the cob. Obviously, it makes grilling easier. (For the fools that boil their CotC, that advantage doesn't matter much).

I just don't see the advantage of eating it straight off the cob. It makes butter application easier, but I don't eat it with butter. I impart enough flavor that it isn't necessary. (For the silly boilers, I could see where butter might be necessary).

I have a cap on one of my front teeth due to chipping it a while back, and I am always careful biting down on something where the front teeth do the actual biting down. That said, whenever I eat corn on the cob, I eat it from the cob, but am very careful, and can understand this reason why people might take it off the cob first.

He wasn't just removing it and then eat it the way you would corn niblets. He was using the fork to scoop it off bite by bite. Honestly, a spoon probably would have worked better. Either way it was pretty freaky.

I had my front two teeth knock out when I was young. I am careful to not to put much pressure on my front teeth, but I still do. Can you eat corn on the cob with dentures?

I am the same way - never understood why you want #### all over you while you eat. Usually just stay away from the 'messier' foods, especially while eating out - ribs, corn on the cob, wings, etc..

What kind of dunce actually bites the corn off the cob when modern man has developed so many faster, easier, and less messy ways to do so?

Has anyone set up a site for donations to help with travesty? Has the Red Cross been called? WHERE IS THE PRESIDENT?!?!?!

I was once stopped at a light and looked over at the car next to me, and the driver was eating corn on the cob, with the little holder things. I've always thought that was the strangest thing that could get eaten by a driver.

You know how they call corn on the cob "corn on the cob", right? But that's how it comes out of the ground, man. They should call that "corn". They should call every other version "corn off the cob". It's not like if you cut off my arm, you would call my arm "Mitch"; but then reattach it and call it "Mitch all together".

There is nothing better in this world than corn eaten on the cob 10 minutes after it was picked. You heathens who take it off the cob may as well just walk right down to the store and buy a can of Del Monte and spice it up with all your girly bull-####.

microwave it for exactly 4 minutes, still inside the husk
Do you do that with individual pieces, how much more time do you add per ear?

First heard this on Good Eats with Alton Brown, but great way to remove corn kernels from the ear.

Dentures or bridge, likely. I got smashed up, so I have one. Amazing, I know.

Not a big deal, really, if you like the butter and salt from the corn, to take it off the cob.

Also, the image of the chomping...

let's just say...

nibble.

Same here. The corners of my two front teeth are bonded. I was advised against biting into apples and corn on the cob. I love fresh corn on the cob so I still get it as a side, but cut the corn off with a knife and then eat it with a fork.

Soak the corn in husk in water for 10 minutes. Place on the grill over medium-high heat for five minutes, rotate 1/4 turn, and grill another five minutes. Repeat rotate and grill steps two more times for a total of twenty minutes on the grill. Thank me later.
