I think it should be federal law..... (1 Viewer)

.....fill in the blank all you anti-trumpers!

here's one to start:

.....that the entire first family must live at one residence.

How about just respecting the current laws and constitution, not impeding investigations into possible espionage/treason and have a modicum of freakin' decorum in international affairs?

I'd be happy with that.

Of course not, you're reasonable.  But I do object to us paying so much for security.  Not strenuously.
On this issue, if the President wants to have his family live in their own residence, full time, so be it.

But don't expect the tax payers to foot the bill for that choice. It's simply not the right thing to do (regardless of legal, which I don't see how it would not be).  And by tax payers, I mean Federal and the City you "call" home - yet have no problem burdening with your selfish behavior and decisions.

I agree. I'm curious to know how they come up with those figures. It's an insane amount of money
It's got to be mostly in the salaries of the secret service people stationed there, right?  But I don't think they hired new agents to cover that area, just re-assigned existing ones that would be paid the same either way, right?

Yeah I'd love to see a breakdown of where the figures come from.

Don't even get me started on schools.  Great, I get to pay out the butt for that too.

Just to play devil's advocate, didn't the "leaked tax docs" indicate Trump pays around $30mil/year in taxes? So theoretically, he's probably covering more of his security out of his own pocket than any president in history, right?   :P

Note - For what it's worth, I have no dog in this hunt. People are gonna overreact on both sides. To an insane level. It's the world we live in and has been since the innernets was founded. Best to just laugh at the right and laugh at the left and pray that the middle finds a way to keep the country from falling apart.  :D

Doubtful.
Fair enough.

I'd be happy with that as a start.  And ecstatically more pleased than this disaster we have currently (and that has nothing to do with ideological differences, mind you... just respecting current law and governing appropriately and transparently)

To play devil's advocate's devil's advocate, that was likely a cherry picked single year of taxes... so who knows.  Regardless, it's costing U.S. taxpayers, and especially NY and NYC taxpayers a ton. Again, it may be Trump's right to do so, but that does not make it right to do so, if that makes sense.

And I can't think of another President in my lifetime that would even consider putting such a burden not only on the federal tax payer (all the while screaming about small gov't!), but their own hometown.

Man, do I miss W.  At least with him we could actually debate and discuss the policies... and even when there was strong disagreement, he seemed to (not seemed, he DID) CARE.  So I guess I'd like the President to I dont know, care about all Americans, not just those who support and benefit him the most.  Really don't see this as asking too much.

There's societal benefits to having an educated populace.  I have no issues with everyone paying for that - I also have kids so feel free to take MO with a grain of salt.

I moved to our town because of the school district.   If you don't want to pay for top public schools don't live in our town. :)

Line 2 How much do you have left?

Waste of money and a ploy for drug testing companies to make money that the governor gets a piece of. That's the only reason that it was pushed in Florida.
Seems to make sense at face value, but if its going to cost more than it saves, what's the point.
