The first round was before Arod's hip problems. I'm not a big fan of Soriano that early.

id be looking for a hamilton, bj upton combo. im a fan of upton here. hes got 30-45 written all over him.

I like a BJ as much as the next guy, but he hit 9HR last year (in 640 PAs) and is coming off shoulder surgery. The problem with picking on the turn in a large draft is that players you're considering are unlikely to be available the next time around. You really have to love Upton to pick him at 2.01.

Soriano sounds ok and of course Pedroia's no slouch. He did have an abdominal strain the other day. If you were thinking about taking a top 2B with your turn pick if Ian Kinsler's available I'd look at him.

If the league starts 5 OF I'd probably go OF-OF (Soriano likely being one) unless someone unexpected fell. If the league starts less than 5 OF I'd probably draft Lince K + Soriano.

That's WAY earlier than I ahve been seeing Soriano go

That's very true but there's no way he's going to be available at the 3.15/4.01 turn. Unless you're able to trade down to later in the second, if you think Soriano is going to be better than Beltran/Holliday/Upton or whomever else has an ADP around 16 then take your chances with Soriano.ADP is a useful tool for plotting draft strategy but you shouldn't be overreliant on it.

Well, then my projections disagree with what you've been seeing. I have him valued similarly as Beltran, Holliday, and Upton. I give the nod to Soriano because I think he's the only one of the four with realistic 30/30 potential.

 Just because a bunch of noobs grab a guy on name recognition doesn't mean he's got good value at that particular spot in the draft. I don't even look at ADP unless for some reason it happens to be in my face.

When I took Upton at the turn in our draft, I took it based on him continuing his power surge in the playoffs. I'm not concerned about his shoulder, and I'm in love with his power and speed potential. If he brings his BA back to around 300, then we have a legit 5-category player here. He's a risk, but I'm definitely a part of the "really have to love Upton" group.
