Hmmmmm, the Cubbies really could use a 1BPujols sounds like he is playing hardball with the Cardinals. If that is true, good luck to him at Wrigley or in Anaheim.
I like juice.And I'm not alone.I like sammiches
That's what I was thinking too. Along with the tread on his knee ligaments being almost dried/worn out. It seems like the Cards are thinking the same. It is weird though imo. From what I read, there are people who suspect he is a lot older than 31. Some think he is 34 (maybe more). That might make a team hesitate to hand out a 10 year/$300M contract.
No way I'd give him 10 years. I would probably top out at 6, but would really only want to give him 4 with options. That's what I was thinking too. ... and you'd have 0% chance of signing him.No way I'd give him 10 years. I would probably top out at 6, but would really only want to give him 4 with options.
If 6/180 isn't enough to sign him, I'd trade him without hesitation.... and you'd have 0% chance of signing him.No way I'd give him 10 years. I would probably top out at 6, but would really only want to give him 4 with options.
Can't. He's a 10/5 player that won't accept a trade. Now what?If 6/180 isn't enough to sign him, I'd trade him without hesitation.... and you'd have 0% chance of signing him.No way I'd give him 10 years. I would probably top out at 6, but would really only want to give him 4 with options.

Let him walk. Alfonso Soriano keeps popping up in my head.Can't. That is just about the worst comparison ever made in the history of bad comparisons.Alfonso Soriano keeps popping up in my head.
With Fielder coming into FA after this season? With Papi on his way out the Red sox could use a DH and a big bat in the middle of their line-up.
Looks like a fit on paper. With Papi on his way out the Red sox could use a DH and a big bat in the middle of their line-up.
That probably came out wrong...I wasn't comparing Fielder to Pujols. Was just speculating that it might be a better investment to go younger.Fielder isn't even comparable
They've got like 80M coming off the books. This looks like a go. Question is, can it happen before opening day 2012?Looks like a fit on paper. With Papi on his way out the Red sox could use a DH and a big bat in the middle of their line-up.
So, the Sox are going to tie up 55 mil between 1st and DH? Good luck with that. They've got like 80M coming off the books. This looks like a go. Should've re-signed Manny. With Papi on his way out the Red sox could use a DH and a big bat in the middle of their line-up.
I'm assuming you mean by the total of the contract, because this would make him the highest paid player in the league on a per year basis for the next 6 seasons. If Pujols wants to be the highest paid player in baseball, this probably won't get done.I still think 6 years for $180 million will get it done.
Somewhat irrelevant, but I was looking up the highest paid players of 2010. There sure are some awful contracts in there.I'm assuming you mean by the total of the contract, because this would make him the highest paid player in the league on a per year basis for the next 6 seasons. If Pujols wants to be the highest paid player in baseball, this probably won't get done.I still think 6 years for $180 million will get it done.

1. Mark Teixeira2. Adrian GonzalezSure his range is going in the wrong direction at this point, but Pujols is still a pretty good fielder at 1B. I'm not sure why so many are automatically projecting him to DH as soon as next season.

Honestly, I thought that was a given. But maybe its closer than I thought based on this thread. He's a better fielder than either of them.1. Mark Teixeira2. If your knee ligaments dry out does it make it harder to bend over? I'm not actually sure but that could be a future issue in the field......if you think for some reason his ligs might dry out.Sure his range is going in the wrong direction at this point, but Pujols is still a pretty good fielder at 1B.
