I would be upset if Indy decides to sit their starters (1 Viewer)

Hopefully, Peyton has started lobbying to Polian and Caldwell by now.
Maybe at first they just rest the players who have nagging injuries, such as Freeney? and whoever else has labia damage, or jock itch. Still try to win the games to a certain extent, but within reason.
That would make sense to me, but on Football Night last night Polian and Dungy pretty much said Manning, etc. would play a couple series. Someone also said Manning was on-board with "the plan." They didn't come right out and say this, but it was heavily implied. I'll be really disappointed if they rest their healthy players.

I cant even believe they are thinking about resting them in week 15. I would want them sharp until week 17, and I can even see them playing it safe with the unfriendly playing conditions week 17 in Buffalo. But, as the blurb above states, 5 weeks until a win or go home game.

I'm pretty sure the Colts could never forgive themselves if Manning got hurt in a meaningless game and cost the Colts a Super Bowl this season. If they rest their players and don't win the SB, I suspect they can get over that a lot easier.

Going for 16-0 is not meaningless. IMO If Indy starts resting players now, I think they get bounced in the playoffs for sure, heck they probably get bounced anyway.

But what exactly are the odds he gets hurt? He's never had an injury serious enough to keep him from starting a game. He doesn't take hits very often. Add some conservative play calling, and I think there is such a small chance that it's borderline paranoia, IMO.I just can't fathom how someone like Polian can think it's good idea to have these guys come out after a month of non-competitive football and play a team that just won a playoff game.

long thread for a non-issue.

they have not kept it a secret that they will do this once home field is secured.

Sorry to bore you, but some of us would like to think they have enough common sense to change their minds and do what's best for the team.
:goodposting: Caldwell said himself in yesterday's post game press conference the decision has yet to be made.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell said after Sunday's AFC-clinching win that he hasn't decided yet whether to rest his front-line players in Week 15 against the Jaguars.

"I'll get to that business at some point," Caldwell said. "We'll talk about it here in the next 24 hours or so and make a determination on how we approach that." With a first-round playoff bye, resting their players in Week 15 would put a whopping five weeks between games played for the Colts.

I don't think Manning is really the one they are worried about. However Freeny, Mathis, D.Clark etc are the kind of players that have injury histories and they really cannot afford to lose either.

Colts will probably try to keep Peyton's consecutive starts streak going. To me , week 15 is a mystery. Week 16 will be a series or two for healthy starters. Week 17 will be an appearance by Peyton so he can say he started the game.

The Colts owe nothing to us fantasy football owners. The real question is how the NFL competition committee feels about them possibly resting their starters week 15 and 16 when they play two teams that are in the playoff hunt. They say they have earned to right to rest the starters and have no obligation to play their starters. I think if I am a Colts or Saints fan, I am fine with that. If not, I could have an issue with it.

The Colts should be worrying about the Chargers based on recent history, not going 16-0 or injuries.

They will definitely keep Manning's consecutive starts streak going. No doubt about it, but don't expect four quarters of action from him either.
