I wouldn't draft Larry Fitzgerald in the 1st...2nd...3rd...4th (1 Viewer)

:no: Fitz has double digit TDs in four of his eight NFL seasons; AJ has NEVER hit double digit TDs.

Fitz has 1,400 yards plus in four of his eight seasons; AJ has done that twice in nine seasons.

Fitz has averaged 93 catches a seasons his last five seasons; AJ averages more catches when he is healthy (106 catches a seasons in his last three full seasons).

Fitz almost never misses games due to injury; AJ has missed 19 games out of 80 in the last five seasons.

Given all of that, how is AJ's ceiling higher? Okay, Fitz only has 14 touchdowns in his last two seasons (which is a bit low for him), but that is still only a tad less than AJ's best two back to back seasons total of 17.

In other words, IF both stay healthy, AJ might catch a few more balls, but Fitz is more than likely to catch more touchdowns and have more yards. And that is a big IF on AJ staying healthy.

Hmmmm ... In my dynasty 12 team ppr league, Here are their numbers from 2009 and 2010:2009

In my dynasty league, AJ started off last season with 19, 18.8, and 18.1 points in the first 3 games before getting injured. I'm not certain why anyone would think Fitz would outscore a healthy AJ. Don't get me wrong. I think Fitz is great. I just don't understand the whole "AJ hasn't scored double digit TD's" argument. Oh ... ok ... yeah ... going back from 2010, he's scored 8,9,8, and 8 and has been the top FF WR in 2010 and 2008 and was 3rd in 2009. Isn't that what we're trying to do? Score fantasy football points?

yeah but I don't think this affects Fitz as much as it might other receivers - Larry will get his no matter which nonPro QB is in their .... look at last year ....and remember they had neither Wells or Williams playingsad that a rookie from San Diego State with no pro experience might actually be their "best" (ie lesser of the evils) play right now
 
I can see an argument made for Fitz as the #2 WR. He's safe. And even with a bad QB, has decent upside. But I have a really hard time getting excited about drafting him early this season.

With the depth at WR, I'd have a really hard time taking Fitz over a top 10 RB, top 3 QB or top 2 TE. It's a risky move, but I'd probably even take Julio or AJ Green over him.

 
For me, its like this: We universally talk about how terrible every aspect of Arizona is on the offense:

1)No QB

2)No o-line

3)No RBs that stay healthy/effective (I think Beanie gets dumped on too much, but the consensus is the RBs could be better)

4)No legit help for Fitz.

Despite ALL that, he still ends up as a top 7-10 WR every year.

So I'm buying him. The floor is too solid and IF (just if) 1-2 of those problem areas come together and improve like the defense did down the stretch last year, it makes for a great end of season stretch for your FF playoffs as a Fitz owner.

 
I think the real question that needs to be floated is how confident are people in the idea that fitz outperforms his ADP. I think most people feel like he's the safest of the after Megatron bunch and he's not going to loose the league for you, but he's not the guy that wins the league for you.

It is not about Fitz ending 7 to 10. It is about how much more does her get than a WR taken Ianthe 3rd or 4th round....how much will Fitz (2 nd round ADP) outperform Marshall ; Wallace; Austin; AJ Green; Bowe; Greg Jennings etc (all 3rd and 4th rounded)

Those Kolb numbers still extrapolate to 74/1316/4. I'm willing to overlook the TD numbers due to obvious sample size caveats. That's still 1300 yards from the greater of the two evils.

In case you missed it, they went into Foxborough and beat the New England Patriots...they were 14 point dogs. Kolb accounted for 2 TDs and threw 0 INTs (Brady through 1 of each). While Kolb is certainly not even a very good QB, your statement makes absolutely no sense.

Just traded BJGE and Schaub for him in a PPR last week was expecting better but not down on him yet hes played with inconsistent QB play the last few years. And Skelton should be back by the playoffs anyways.

 
I own him in a 10-teamer, so naturally I have depth and can hold. If I were counting on him week in, week out at this point I'd be pretty worried. How can you not utilize arguably one of the best WRs to ever play the game? This is football blasphemy right here.

I feel you, and it makes total sense. You have to figure something has got to give though, there has to be some sort of balane. Assuming they do keep winning as long as Fitz is taken out of the game, eventually, teams will have to catch on no? They'd have to figure out that they can't win by just phasing out one WR. ARI has an underrated defense and offensive players that CAN produce when called upon.

I believe therein lies the rub. This thread has been around for a long time and in the past Fitz always got his and was still a toop 7 -10 WR but that was largely in part because the Cardinals as a team was BAD and at least Fitz got the garbage time stuff. But now they are in games so everyone is playing against Fitz as designed and doubling him or giving the help over the top. In short, as long as the Cards are competitive and in games, teams have no reason to pull off him and give him the garbage stuff. Fitz is an awesome talent, obviously, but he doesn't have a QB that can get him the ball.

..the only rub I'm not fond of.I suppose I'll wait until he blows up before shopping. No point on selling low on a player of his caliber. Odds are he'll blow up sooner than later. It's not like he's CJ2k who's clearly lost several steps.

 
Wish I had passed on him for someone like Sproles in my ppr league. Tough to win with these kind of games, I actually like Harvin more than him Fitz going forward

 
Good buy low candidate at this point or not even worth it? Guessing the latter given how so many many waiver wire types are tearing it up

 
I'm not normally one to say this, but Fitz really should demand a trade. Imagine the damage he'd do in Washington or Indy - even Miami.

that's a lot of words. He still is going to be playing with amateurs though. He'd make the same money elsewhere.

Fitz in Indy would turn the NFL and the fantasy world on its ear. I can't imagine how good this team would be with Wayne and Fitz both out there.
 
Its not just Fitz either, there is some good talent on that defense and some other offensive skill players that are just languishing on this team. Granted their o-line is pretty awful, but still. Trotting out this rookie that isn't going to be starting next year is just so pointless. With a mediocre NFL QB, this should be a team at least in the playoff hunt. Lindley is big and thats about it. His accuracy is terrible and that was always the knock on him in the draft. Accuracy is pretty important in a quarterback, I find. Im not sure what they are trying to prove at this point, aside from proving that they did indeed burn a late round pick on a guy that will never be a legitimate starter. But that was evident after his first start. They better find out if either one of the other two is even worth a roster spot next season.

He had his chance to leave, he played out his contract and Zona couldn't even tag him. He even went to SB with them. He re-signs on a bad team for 130M and we're to feel bad for him?
 
Fitz demand a trade :lol:

Just like he demanded they sign Kevin Kolb in order for him to re-sign in Arizona...

And Arizona did just that in order to re-sign him.

O line is a much bigger problem, thankfully Massie is coming around but if they're in a spot to get LT fixed in the draft they need to do that, pair that with an interior OL early day 2, one in free agency, then make a play for Alex Smith or Flynn as bridge guys.I still like Michael Floyd the player but he was not the right pick for this franchise, the o line has been a mess for a very long time and it was very curiously neglected this offseason. Yes, QB is a problem too, but not being in a spot to get Geno they really need to fix the trenches then set their eyes ahead on a Johnny Football, Tahj Boyd, or Braxton Miller type in 2014 or 2015. Lots of potential in the college ranks, but they don't stand a chance in this division with this line.
