You know the drill, who are the IDP's you are targeting late who you think can be core players for you? Here are mine:

DT/DE:

Jonathan Hankins - No one noticed, but he finished last year with 49 total tackles and 7 sacks. Aaron Donald had 40 tackles and 8 sacks.

Tank Carradine - Started putting it together last year and will see more opportunities this year.

Sharrif Floyd - Missed two games but still put up 39 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Scheme is a great fit for him, so I expect a breakout.

LB:

Justin Durant: Injury dependant he'll start next to Worrilow and could provide solid LB3 numbers.

Zach Brown: Missed an entire season due to a muscle tear, but they drafted him in the 2nd round and Woodyard is nothing special.

Daryl Smith: Old faithful. Aging but keeps putting up the numbers. LB3 with LB2 upside for basically a song.

Christian Jones: I think he beats out Foster and starts at ILB.

I was thinking Sam Barrington myself as his competition for the job looks to be less than last year and he really played well at the end of the season.

Demarcus Lawrence I think is in for double digit sacks

Maybe Jabeel Sheard going back to DE might make his numbers better again. I can see him battling to replace Ninkovich big time

Sam Barrington LB

Barrington is poised to make the defensive calls in Green Bay this season, Chris Wesseling of NFL.com reports.

As a GB fan I hope not. It'll be a rerun of AJ Hawk making tackles from the side 7 yds downfield.
McCarthy was praising Ryan at OTA's so hope he was right. Barrington looked pretty good stuffing the run last year but I would go further than that.

Me too (Sheard).

Just speaking as a Packers fan and a hoping for the best defense possible, I'd much rather see Clay running the show inside and maybe in 3rd and longs see him rushing the passer. He is the best player on the field regardless of position and I would trust him to keep running games and QB's in check more than anyone else. I think the overall team D improved when he went inside and having a training camp under his belt as a middle linebacker type I think he will be even better.

If you recquire DTs in your league then a name that might be under the radar is Browns rookie DT Danny Shelton. Prior to the draft he was thought of as a two-down run plugger but he's shown the ability to rush the passer and hustle to make plays downfield.

Check out this Vine of Shelton dominating Richie Icognito in yesterday's intersquad scrimmage between the Browns and Bills.

Originally I was thinking a high of 35 to 39 solo tackles, 20 to 24 assists and maybe 3 to 4 sacks with a FF and 1 FR but now I think he will be on the field more and he'll produce more.

He will be on the field much more than I originally believed and think he'll see more passing downs than imagined.

I can see a high of 45 to 50 solos with 35 to 40 assists and 4 to 6 sacks 3 FF and 1 FR with 3 PDs.

Those would be huge numbers and we use a DT. My current DT is, a player to be named later. :) I will definitely keep an eye on this kid though.

how many 3-4 DT's put up those kinds of numbers? seems way out of line for the system somehow.

The league leader in solos last year had 45 (Bennie Logan) and the leader in assists (Damon Harrison) had 25. These projections seem way too optimistic, pushing Richie Incognito into the backfield during a practice notwithstanding..

Yep, you are right.

I went waaaaay over in projecting his numbers.

And the scheme is a hybrid like basically every NFL team so wouldn't read too much into 3-4 or 4-3. Browns HC Mike Pettine called the defense a three and a half front to emphasize how mixed it will be.

I think Shelton will see more PT than originally thought with:

- 50 combined tackles (I think he will play more than any other player on the Browns D-Line so I think this is attainable)

- 1 PD

- 4 sacks

- 3 FF (based on him penetrating into the backfield and twisting on his bull rush, twisting action when taking down a ball carrier tends to force more fumbles)

- 1 FR

As a Raiders homer, I would add Ben Heeney as a dynasty stash.

Undersized middle linebacker who in college just racked up tackles. Has flashed in practice, and the games. Has Curtis Lofton on front of him, which shouldn't scare anyone. With Sio Moore and Malcolm Smith, 3 down duty seems far fetched, but could just be one of those instinctual guys that forces his way on the field.

It seems you had mentioned this elsewhere once before MR and as one of the homers I always listen to I snagged Heeney in both my IDP leagues, hopefully he turns out, I watched the first game and he did look good.

Christian Jones at LB68 ADP was top LB last 2 weeks, last 3 if you count week 17 in my league.

Zach Vigil. He's already second string as an UDFA and could earn the 1st team nod. I don't really think the guys ahead of him are all that special.

Some of these are more undervalued than true sleepers but I second the Tank Carradine pick. I also like Curtis Lofton moving to Oakland (got him at the end of my draft) and Paul Pos coming back from injury for Jacksonville (got him in the offseason off waivers). I like Vaccaro as a bounce-back candidate, is supposed to play more in the box this year. Reshad Jones is a good pick too that can generally be had at a good price.

he was moved to FS once Byrd got hurt and struggled. Byrd's injury really hurt the entire defensive backfield because Vaccarro wound up being asked to do more coverage than he's capable of. he can play "big nickel" but that's very different than what he had to do last year for much of the season. if Byrd is healthy, i expect Vaccarro to possibly lead the Saints in sacks.

Stevie Brown - SS - Texans

Projected as the starting SS.
Cut and now may resign with the Gmen.

I have seen a couple names in threads, Mike Hull and Zack Vigil, I thought they both looked really good for Miami yesterday. Seemed like one of them was in on every play. Miami has had garbage at LB for a while now and besides Jenkins it's still mostly garbage. I could see one of these guys if not both having fantasy relevance this season and/or definitely being a dynasty hold.

Was targeting Shazier last night. Unfortunately, he got picked up right before my pick. Other LB I am high on are Devon Kennard, NY Giants and Vincent Rey, Cincy as late round fliers.

Eddie Pleasant starting SS for Houston.

Deonne Buchanan Arizona plays a lot of LB as well as safety.

Gotta love Shea McClellin's chance with him wearing the mic in his helmet, automatic 3 down LB no?

Timmy Jerrnigan, limited time behind Ngata, 5.5 sacks.

Ngata gone, gotta think those numbers at least go somewhat up? I'm just hoping for maybe one of my better backup DE, but a dirt cheap, still a bargain despite not having high expectations.

Kony Easy is you still consider him a sleeper with Alexander gone.

Fowler seems to be really dipping in some leagues I've been in. DEs take a long time to develop anyways sometimes, maybe the year off could be somewhat beneficial for him to just sit and learn. My leagues also have IR spots too to stash him on.

Arizona LBs, if you think Weatherspoon is too injury prone, then go Minter? At least one of those two will be pretty productive.

Wilhoite with Willis, Borland gone and Moody waived should be solid.

Unga uani- starting in place of Beason against Dallas... go pick him up fellows :)

(Rotoworld)The Giants will start undrafted rookie Uani 'Unga at middle linebacker in Week 1 against the Cowboys.Analysis: 'Unga made the Giants' 53 as a second-year undrafted free agent out of BYU. Already 27 -- he took a Mormon mission before college -- 'Unga is undersized at 6-foot-1, 231, and drew negative run-defense grades from Pro Football Focus this preseason. He's getting the start in place of injured Jon Beason.

Ray-Ray Armstrong is another guy who is going to be three down lb in Oakland! Taking over Sio Moore, no clue how good he is, but I guess I'm gonna find out.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more mention of Will Hill in IDP material I've been seeing. I know the Ravens situation hasn't exactly been fantasy gold lately but he'll be at SS and Elam is out of the picture. I think he'll be right around that big group of guys after the top 5-6 in terms of production

No he's not. Don't bother with Ray Ray.
