If Abdullah is out: Riddick or Green anyone? (1 Viewer)

If Abdullah is out and Stafford plays, would anyone risk playing Tion Green or Riddick?  If so, which one should be the better play in standard and/or PPR?

Abdullah probably plays but let’s assume he doesn’t.

Riddick is very good in both pass pro & obviously as a receiver. Stafford audibles a ton & often changes blocking schemes based on what he sees. Green admitted on Monday he has a hard time keeping up. In college it was much simpler: you have this guy, or you’re responsible for that side.

Tion found out he was playing when he went back to the locker room after warm ups & saw his jersey hanging in his locker (AA was a true game time decision.) He realizes he was playing when Caldwell walked up to him during the game & asked if he was ready to run.

The level of communication in Allen Park is a little bizzaro these days. High levels of frustration & vets like Tate making veiled statements about what is/isn’t wrong with the team.

Stafford seems to be throwing the ball well the last two days but ball security is a concern. He is tied for the league lead in strip sack fumbles with Tom Savage & that was before he hurt his hand.

Tion is far more likely to find the end zone than any of the Lions backs.  Well assuming he is active this week.

If he's not active, Caldwell should be removed from the sidelines by security. He should be starting to see what they have in him since no one else can break a tackle.

If Abdullah is out, Riddick's interesting in PPR, and Tion definitely has value in standard, if a definite ceiling because he'll probably still split time. Agree with Tion being the most likely of the 3 to hit the end zone, but obviously high risk to that probable reward.

If Abdullah plays, I could see Riddick as a long-shot flex for PPR, but there's the danger of him disappearing except for a series or two. Green probably is worthless/unstartable, though maybe they give him a few carries because it's not like Abdullah's looked that much better most of the season.

With soft news now that Abdullah is being benched today, does anyone have more thoughts on this?
It's impossible not to read a benching for play instead of injury  as opportunity for Tion against a weak(er) TB run defense. DET O-line is still in shambles (No Wagner, Probably no Swanson, Likely TJ trying to play through pain with unknown results). Honestly it's hard to put Tion above flex range unless you think he'll score a TD, but certainly intriguing. Riddick remains a possibility in PPR as at worst a 3rd down/COP back that might see 10-15 touches.

Does a bad OL favor a pass catching RB like Riddick instead of Green?

Can you explain why the Bucs O-line blocked for Barber when Martin kept getting hit in the backfield constantly? Because I've been trying to figure out why Green had two runs that were probably the best blocking I've seen from Detroit all year.

I'd link his 35 yard run from preseason but it's the exact same play as link #2 - got a seal and took off. If AA had that kind of blocking I don't think the results would be different.

Yes, but the question marks about the Det OL today are because of injuries, right? Maybe some of the split today will depend on how good Riddick and Green are in pass pro.

Then you already know the answer. Riddickis excellent in that role, Tion is a confused rookie who can't keep up with the audibles.

Tion was about I expected

If you block he’ll go through a hole quickly, if not, he’ll lower his pads

ZZ in short yardage is a joke, let Green have a shot at that role - he obvs can’t pass pro so get him in the field more
