If Jalen Hurts Gets 100+ Rushing Touchdowns = Hall of Fame? (1 Viewer)

The dumb hate in here is hurting my eyes
I actually agree with you.
Aikman was way better than he’s getting credit for in here
wrong. way worse.
Well, he has more rings than all of the eagles quarterbacks in history combined so he has that going for him I guess
Funny...everyone always forgets that Eagles had multiple NFL championships pre _super Bowl...like JUST pre Super Bowl.
I mean, if you wanna count Cowboys rings from the 70s, might as well count Eagles rings from the late 40s to 1960.

I mean, why cut things off at 1971? That's no more arbitrary then cutting things off at 2000, is it? How many NFC championship games have the Cowboys played in this century?

Not serious answer:

Oh noooooooow it doesnt matter how old championships are.

Serious answer;

Blame the Skins- they didn’t allow a black player on their team until 1960.
And now we'll pretend that one of the favorite arguments of Cowboys fans isn't that they have more championships? OK, just trying to figure out where the bar lies.
Did you go to the sports bar to watch the eagles first 3 championships or did you watch from home?
You listened to the game on this, huh?
The irony of a cowboys fan suggesting that championship from a really long time ago shouldn't count is unbelievably hilarious.
UNBELIEVABLY!!!!????

It’s 2025. Everyone just starts at Super Bowl 1. Except insecure eagles fans go figure
Ya, you're right. I guess it shouldn't be that unbelievable that a team with so little success in the last 30 years has such insecure and obsessive fans.
Do you ever come up with your own material? THAT would be unbelievable

If we got royalties every time they stole our insults we’d have more money than Jerruh.

I think they think we get upset by it. I just see it as more envy. That must be why green is their team color - it really does suit them.
THAT'S what you came up with? Damn, I almost can't wait until the Cowboys become relevant again (If ever in our lifetime) so y'all have something to talk about instead of obsessing over a rival team so much.
You must have missed it earlier. Posters are wondering when you’re going to come up with something original.
"Posters"? You mean the one other cowboys fan here that you sit in Eagles related forums with all day, adorably liking each others' posts? So cute.
Well, to be fair, you Eagles fans create 700 threads about how "great" your team is because you won last year's SB and then when non-Eagles fans post in any of them you act all outraged and ask why everyone is talking about you. Almost as if you actually love all the drama you create just so you can claim "victim" status. ;)
Honestly even if this were true, why does it bother you so much? Why not just ignore the entire thread rather than feel the need to defend every point?

how did this thread become cowboys vs eagles? again?
Every thread certain posters from those two fanbases go into ruin those threads. It could be a Falcons/Jags gameday thread and it'll be unreadable as soon as they show up. Of course, it's always the other team's fans who are the problem.

Dynamite drop in Monty. I mean, what exactly makes your post different than what youre insinuating?

Feel free to adress the poster(s) directly if you have somthing to say rather than use "certain people".
Because my opinion on this isn't a never-ending misery that the rest of us are subjected to over and over and over, ruining multiple threads. It's childish by the perpetrators and it's exhausting for many of the rest of us to have to wade through the sewage.

I'm not calling anyone out by name here. If the folks involved have mirrors so broken that they can't see it, nothing I can say will change it.

I don't get it, I genuinely am just having an actual discussion here, and somehow between a few rival fans, I dunno, its the same folks over and over.

I can tell you for certain it wasn't an Eagles fan that just started saying "Look how many rings" out of nowhere unprovoked.

People already didn't like Jalen Hurts. A lot of folks for various reasons didn't like a lot about the Eagles: The team, the coach, the city, etc.

Now everyone is a champion and I mean *I guess* this is how it goes? People accuse your team of cheating, not being as good as they actually are (despite all evidence)

We are champions, the question of maybe the QB going into the HOF is really putting people on tilt.

Its silly.

What are you talking about? It doesn't bother me at all. You guys are the one that brought it up.

I'm not the poster requiring people to have a specific and approved motive to post in my threads. I'm simply posting on the topic and it's the victims that keep changing the topic.

Can you point to me where I am in some of way, maybe where you interpret my words as "requiring people to have a specific motive to post in my threads"

Sorry to bog it down, just had to call this out I am just having a hard time following.

Thanks!

I responded to a post by someone else who asked a question. Then I answered a post by another someone asking for clarification. I didn't specifically mention you or any particular poster.

I've posted my thoughts on Hurts here and in other threads.

I agree that it's silly and the source of the silliness always comes from the same places.

Y'all have fun.

That's why I'm out on a guy like Eli Manning. He was just an average QB for his era.
Come now, Eli was led the league statistically in his career. Categories like (checks notes) interceptions, 3x.
:oldunsure:

Jokes aside, he also had a pretty consistent 15 year career (only 4 games in 2019) and put up some decent numbers. Only missed a couple games over a 14 year run, too.

But I do agree he’s borderline. He’s one of the dudes I think deserves to be in for a somewhat middling career + beating Brady’s dynasty Pats twice. IMO those SB wins elevate him quite a bit.

Back on Hurts, a QB with 100+ RuTd as well as a ring, plus solid passing stats should be HOF-worthy. A 2nd ring + 100 RuTD should be a lock.

Is this the reality in your head? You made a claim that we repeatedly asked you to explain (how philly would have lost 4 more games last year without that play) which you (predictably) ignored the first few times then danced around it claiming you werent going to get into it or answer.

You spout off, but when asked actual football things, you suddenly dont want to talk about it.

Trolling at its finest. And the fact that you dont even post about the packers anymore shows it all.

I mean, why cut things off at 1971? That's no more arbitrary then cutting things off at 2000, is it? How many NFC championship games have the Cowboys played in this century?

Not serious answer:

Oh noooooooow it doesnt matter how old championships are.

Serious answer;

What are you talking about? It doesn't bother me at all. You guys are the one that brought it up.

I'm not the poster requiring people to have a specific motive to post in my threads.
Hi! I'm the poster. Can you point to me where I said that, Not trying to bog the thread down, but you keep saying people are saying things that aren't true, and ya know, all the words are here unless we edit them after we post them.

Can you point to me where I am in some of way, maybe where you interpret my words as "requiring people to have a specific motive to post in my threads"

Like seriously I have to ask "what are you even talking about?"

Sorry to bog it down, just had to call this out I am just having a hard time following.

Thanks!
FFS, put him on ignore.
because they never strop talking about Dallas.
lol this has to be shtick, right?

No Philly fan talks MORE about their rival team than their own team. Which is exactly what you do.
FFS, put him on ignore.

Eagles Fans: We're the Greatest!! Everyone Tell us How Great We Are! (700 Threads Created)

Non-Eagles Fans: Hang on...here's some counter-points

Also Eagles Fans: OMG! Why do you hate us? Why are you posting in here? Why do you care? You're going on ignore!!
:lmao:

As much as I'm a guy that is "IN" on Eli Manning, hypothetically speaking, Does Terrell Davis get in without HIS 2 Super Bowl rings?

Prob not right?

That's apples and oranges. In 7 seasons (basically 4), Davis had 3 Pro Bowls, 3 1st team All-Pros, 2 Offensive Player of the Years and an MVP award to go along with those rings. The argument against Davis is longevity. But you'd be hard pressed to find another player with a 4 years as great as Davis had, and if you do, he's probably in the HOF.

Eli Manning has 4 Pro Bowls over 16 seasons. That's it.

Its funny b/c Peyton Manning has all the stats in the world, but you look at the Super Bowl stats and Eli easily outperforms him. 3 touchdowns, 1 INT in both games against NE. 2-0 record. 2 SB MVPS

Peyton Manning (who you could say had super teams right?) 4 Super Bowls, 3 total touchdowns, 5 INTs. 2-2 Record 1 SB MVP

Jalen Hurts in his 2 Super Bowls against the Modern Day version of the Patriots? 7 touchdowns, 1 int, 1 fumble 1-1 record. 1 SB MVP

And one preposterous David Tyree helmet catch on a ball that was by all accounts terribly overthrown.

Basically a miracle catch on a bad throw, without which the Patriots win.

Now, the scramble before the throw was artful, to say the least. Brilliant is another way to describe it, as he should have been sacked (at least) twice on that play.

But yeah - without that he only has 1 ring and is probably not in the conversation for HOF at all.

I dont ever get this line of thinking but Im not a stats guy. They didnt play the same teams under the same conditions so comparing stats doesn't do anything for me. It's apples to oranges imo.

I would argue that Manning played under a different set of rules than we do today but to counter that - Hurts doesnt seem to get the same protection as most QBs - Ive seen him take some brutal shots that likily would have been flags for most QBs.

IMO Manning suffered from the same thing Romo did - They both understood how big the moment was and it got to them. Manning did a better job of it because he had a better pedigree than the undrafted, choke-job that played in Dallas.

I know he walks on water in this thread but imo, if Hurts doesnt lay the ball on the ground in his first SB he likely has two and hes much closer to the HOF than he sits currently.

Ah, but if Eli had 100 rushing TDs to go along with those 4 pro bowls and 2 rings. He’d be a lock, right?

Well if you're trying to compare Eli to Hurts. Hurts already has a 2nd team All-Pro selection on his resume. Something Eli never accomplished. So at least, for one season, Hurts was considered one of the top 2 players at his position.

Jalen takes his share of shots and its a fair question about longevity.

I'm asking if he gets in/who gets in. I take the position of "what I think the voters will do" more than what I personally think. I think I have been clear in my discussion of Eli Manning in this regard. Its all part of NFL Lore and Narrative. Maybe its not right/wrong whatever, my stance is Eli "will get in" bc...these stats + who he beat, etc.

Not bc his last name is Manning thats just weird IMO.

I never watched or still don't watch college football but I remember the knock on Peyton was basically "can he win the big game/is he clutch" looking at his duels with Brady and his performances in Super Bowls, its hard to say detractors were wrong, despite the fact he still did technically win the big one. Twice.

We could go on and on about eras and rules forever b/c the NFL literally changes them EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

Go ahead and make me a modern day Devin Hester can get in argument, and he literally JUST GOT in.

If Eli Manning had 100+ Rushing TDS to go along with his current resume, would he be a lock for the HOF?

If Jalen Hurts doesnt win another SB and get to 100TDs, I do not think that automatically gets him in.

I didnt question Hurt's durability but I agree, its a potential concern.

If Jalen Hurts doesnt win another SB and get to 100TDs, I do not think that automatically gets him in.

The Manning name carries A LOT of weight, whether you think it's weird or not - it absolutely does.

Re: stats/league changes - Which is yet another reason why stats arent what I go by.

I have no idea what you mean about Hester. I would not have voted in a special teams player who wasnt good outside of returns but most if not all consider him the best returner of all time.
Just pointing out how the NFL basically killed the kick return, so even to HAVE A CHANCE to be Devin Hester isn't possible IMO, let alone to get a chance to be that level AND get in.

Bc rules

Lucky Hester.

IMO Brian Mitchell should have been in way before him.
But Hester returned the opening kick of a Super Bowl for a TD.....ah nvm haha

but you look at the Super Bowl stats and Eli easily outperforms him. 3 touchdowns, 1 INT in both games against NE. 2-0 record

I know he walks on water in this thread but imo, if Hurts doesnt lay the ball on the ground in his first SB he likely has two and hes much closer to the HOF than he sits currently.
Probably fair, but a lot of folks like to absolutely blow him up for that fumble, when the truth is he played a fantastic game outside of that one play, and that is a bit unfair.

Serious answer;

Eagles Fans: We're the Greatest!! Everyone Tell us How Great We Are! (700 Threads Created)

Non-Eagles Fans: Hang on...here's some counter-points

Eagles Fans: OMG! Why do you hate us? Why are you posting in here? Why do you care?

Non-Eagles Fans: Hang on there again...I'm posting on the topic. Can we stay on topic instead of divining motives as to why people are posting in a PUBLIC thread YOU created?

Eagles Fans: OMG! You're going on ignore!

:ROFLMAO:
That's now how it went, but I appreciate the fine revisionist history you've made here.

Anyone that remotely disagrees with "Aren't we the greatest ever" is immediately piled on where YOU guys all change the topic from the poster's "Here's the points on why I disagree" to your "OMG! Why are you posting in here when you've never posted in here previously? Ignore!!! Outrage!!". And then when we respond to that absurd claim, you then claim you were always on topic and acting like Angels from on high. Don't be that guy. YOU'RE changing the topic, not us, and forcing everyone to respond to the absurd claims as opposed to, y'know, the topic at hand.

I don't want to belabor this any further, but the fact that when someone points out where you're wrong or lays out their points does not make them haters, trolls or anything else.
No sorry, you can't back this one down. You have relentlessly attacked the tush push the last few months, and whenever presented with hard data to counter your arguments you have ignored said data.
It isn't about blind love of the Eagles, it's about irrationality in some of the criticism. You said MULTIPLE times they would have lost several more games, wouldn't have won the Bowl etc. And the data simply doesn't back that up...it doesn't even come close.

If you want to have reasonable and rational discussions, you have to start with being reasonable and rational.

It's very disingenuous to do otherwise

You wanted to talk football.

You claimed the Eagles would have missed the playoffs last year (losing 4 or 5 more games than they did) without the Tush Push.

Can you back that up without trying to flip things or change the subject? Can you please explain which games they won because of that play? Looking forward to your response.

We don't hate you because we ain't you, we hate that the Eagles were allowed to get away with an illegal/sketchy/skeevey play in the first place and therefore get the asterisk next to their wins. Without the tush push, the Eagles probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs
You say you're not trolling, so strictly talking football, what are your views on which 4 games they won because of the play?

This is the point where I'm like "aight right"

I get if Jalen Hurts doesn't fumble they probably win the game.

But....

The first team to ever score 35+ points in a Super Bowl and ....lose

And he otherwise played a perfect game (given his PFF Super Bowl score, ,even WITH the Fumble, is the 2nd all time behind Nick Fole)

And I"m pretty sure other QB's have won Super Bowls without ya know, being perfect.

But I get the criticism.

I'd put it like this In real life if I were to "blame" someone on the loss, on the ole 1-10 scale it would be like

Jon Gannon 9/10
Nick Sirianni 5/10
James Bradberry 1/10
Jalen Hurts 2.5/10

My point is literally no rival ever brings up these defensive stats I'm bringing up, its always like

Haha right its the defense's fault Jalen fumbled! Who is Gannon?
I still wanna punch that loser Nick! 10/10 times!
Hey! James bradberry held! What ya gonna do, Man I love refs!
Jalen Hurts 9.5/10 b/c of the fumble!

FFS, put him on ignore.

Yeah, I know, which is why I'm waiting for you guys to jump on board.

Relentlessly attacking the tush-push is NOT, in any way, trolling. It's an actual valid position to have and the fact that you don't like that and can't stand to hear it doesn't mean it's an invalid position. It just means you're incapable of having a rational discussion over it. That's fine, but you don't get to revise history, claim victim status and then pretend it's everyone else with the problem.

I'm perfectly fine with you defending. However, what I am not okay with - and everyone else as well - is being gaslit and straw-manned simply because we don't genuflect to the Eagles fanbase over this or any issue they disagree with. It's VERY clear in here who the Eagles fans are because they are personally attacking anyone who has even the slightest disagreement with them. It's really as simple as that.
And this is why some of us are so over the top frustrated with you. It's a valid position to dislike it, or to wish it gone. YOu don't have to be an Eagles hater to hate the play. But you've gone beyond that with outrageous statements you can neither back up nor defend. When called out on it, you just blame the eagles fans for being unreasonable. Defend your position or go away with the argument. I've defended mine with actual data. Barring that, just acknowledge you hate the play without any hard data and move on...that's not unreasonable. What's unreasonable is "they're cheating" "Eagles would have lost four more games" etc.

I have a non football related question.....

WTF is a @Deamon ?
I could tell you, but I like having posting privileges
Says the guy who reported me last week :lmao:
I got a TO the same time you did. And as I’ve posted numerous times, the mods have posted here that I don’t do that.
Can you say the same?

He can’t even answer a simple question about his name. I was curious because I’ve always wondered WTF a deamon was.

Apparently he took that as an attack.

Oh and Joe said “deamon” was responsible for the :lmao: being removed a few months back. I saw Joe warn him about it a few days ago for - shocker, doing it again.

Serious answer;

Blame the Skins- they didn’t allow a black player on their team until 1960.
And now we'll pretend that one of the favorite arguments of Cowboys fans isn't that they have more championships? OK, just trying to figure out where the bar lies.
