We can all agree that our current form of government, more specifically, the way that it is implemented, is broken.  I do not think that our Founding Fathers set it up to run this way.  Since the founding of this country we have bastardized it into it's current configuration.  I feel that the biggest problems that have arisen in our govt. are:

1.  Term Limits:  Do you feel that our Founding Fathers intended for politicians to "make a career" out of govt. service?  Do you feel that term limits would make the govt run any better...or worse?

2.  Party over People:  Do you feel that politicians put their Party over The People?  Is this what the Founding Fathers envisioned?  Seriously, how long has this been going on?  Has it always been this way?  Would the Country benefit or suffer worse from politicians voting their constituency despite their Party's platform?

3.  Entitlement Spending:  When did this get out of control and how do we stop it?  If you took on this kind of spending in your own home, how long until bankruptcy?

I am sure that the list goes on an on but, considering how bad we have screwed this up in such a short span of time, just how many more "mistakes" can we afford to make?

Term limits is a big one. It's no longer service to your country when you're lining your pockets over a multi-decade career in politics.

I really don't see how term limits would improve the current political system.  The long-term pawns of big corporations would simply be replaced by short-term pawns continuing to represent corporate interests in Congress in exchange for campaign contributions.  It does nothing to change the systematic problems that corrupt our democracy.

Just because it's running does not mean that it isn't broken.  If I have a watch that loses an hour a day...it's working.  Not as it was designed but it does run. Something in the works is most likely broken...ie...not aligned or bent.  It is broken because it is not working as designed.

It might not solve the issue but it mitigates it. The problem is the longer these guys are in office the more power they can wield. It seems insane to me that we all agree term limits is good for the presidency but don't think abuse of power can happen in all the other lower levels of elected office.

The longer these guys are in office the more corrupt and indebted they become and the more power they have. Term limits would be a great start to curbing this.

As alluded to above, I'm not sure if giving people even more short-term incentives would help much.

There have been petty party disagreements going basically all the way back to the beginning.  Once Washington voluntarily left office, it was basically game on. 

The idea of the career politician sucks for the reasons already stated. It totally goes against the idea of politics being a public service and encourages people to do what will keep them in office rather than what's good for the country as a whole.
