If the Vikings did tamper with Favre.... (1 Viewer)

Looking intradivision, to a rival's highest salary cap player, trying to leverage that cap number against an outright release of a player with such sufficent worth that he would instantly become your starting quarterback, what is that worth? Forget that they also tampered with the relationship of an iconic figure to his historic franchise, but simply from a numbers standpoint how much is that worth?

I suggest that Favre in the open market would be worth at least as much as Jason Taylor, and perhaps more to a team with a particularized need. I suggest that trying to saddle an opponent with 12 million of cap obligation is a potentially aggravating factor. I believe that the appropriate penalty is to give the Vikings everything they were looking for. Send Favre to them for a high second or low first round choice (no lower than pick #40) and a subsequent 5th round choice. (this is Favre's fair market value) Then as a penalty make the Vikings give the Packers their next available third round choice. Also relieve Green Bay of Favre's contract number and saddle the Vikings with the full value of the contract for its duration no matter whether Favre makes the team, stays on the team, or not. Then simply hold up Favre's paperwork until after the season opener. Don't allow him to report until then, nor to have any contact with the team until then.

nothing, everyone does it.
In that case, who is gonna give the niners their picks back from last year... i say throw the book at em Goodell... even if its not true, make an example of these tampering cheeters!!!!Gotta have equal punishment for equal crimes right? :goodposting: BAM

I'll never understand how the NFL "rewarded" the Bears with the trade of draft picks for the deal. You should take picks away from the guilty party (or just fine them), but I don't think the other team should benefit for it.

The punishment should be the same that a hot stud gets when he bangs his rivals hot, middle aged wife.

A high five for the stud, and heaps of shame for the guy who couldn't keep his wife satisfied.

The NFL came down hard on the 49ers for tampering with linebacker Lance Briggs of the Chicago Bears and had to forfeit a fifth-round selection in the draft and swap picks with the Bears in the third round.

they get Favre but must play him for the next 5 years
I like this idea... but let’s add something...If Favre even mentions the word "retirement" during those 5 years, his name is permanently etched out of the football annals (insert silly snicker here)BAM
