If we put the Dolphins and the Jets together (1 Viewer)

Just wanting to get an opinion. 2 horrible teams here but they are both NFL teams. The Pats are GRET but could they beat a merged team? Let me hear your thoughts just for fun.

You could combine Clemens, Pennington, Lemon and Beck into some 8-armed, ambidextrious, 24 foot tall QB monstrosity and the Dolts still couldn't score more than 24.

LOL this is like when they merged the Eagles and Steelers for a year (PHIL-PITT or Steagles) and then the Cardinals and Steelers the next year (CARD-PITT or more pejoratively the Carpets)

Oh but the answer is no.

If you added the Bills yes.
Still no quarterback.
Trent Edwards > JP Losman >Kellen Clemens > Chad Pennington > Cleo Lemon > John Beck
Give Buffalo Laverneus Coles, Ellis and a couple DBs from the Jets and you'd have a pretty strong team. No participation from the Dolphins required.
that pretty much sums up the dolphins' season so far

QB-- JP Losman, Chad Pennington, Trent Edwards

RB-- Marshawn Lynch, Leon Washington

RB-- Ronnie Brown (IR), Ryan Neufield

WR-- Lee Evans, Laveranues Coles, Ted Ginn JR.

WR-- Jerricho Cotchery, Josh Reed, Marty Booker

TE-- Chris Baker, Robert Royal

OT--Jason Peters, LJ Shelton, Langston Walker

OT--Vernon Carey, D'Brickshaw Ferguson

G--Rex Hadnot, Brandon Moore

G--Derrick Dockery, Adrian Clarke

C--Nick Mangold, Melvin Fowler

DT--Vonnie Holliday, Kyle Williams, Larry Triplett

DT--Dewayne Robertson, Keith Traylor

DE--Aaron Schobel, Shaun Ellis

DE--Jason Taylor, Kenyon Coleman

OLB--David Harris, Victor Hobson

OLB--Angelo Crowell, Bryan Thomas, Channing Crowder

MLB--Joey Porter, Eric Barton

CB-- Darelle Revis, Jabari Greer, David Barrett

CB--Terrence McGee, Will Allen

SS--Donte Whitner, Lance Schulters

FS--Kerry Rhodes, Jason Allen

P--Brian Moorman

K--Mike Nugent

The Bilphinets would have to focus on a strong ground game, occasionally allowing Losman to stretch the field deep to Lee Evans and Cotchery to force the safetys to stay back and to keep eight Pats out of the box. If Brown is healthy, the Bilphinets will have a great 1-2 RB combo with Lynch and Brown. Brown can also play a little fullback and Leon Washington can come in as a great third down RB. The combined offensive line is fairly impressive and should at least hold its own with the Patriots. Depth is also helpful, with rotation schemes allowing the OT's a breather every now and then.

On defense, there are quite a few decent LB's. with Hobson, Barton and Thomas able to come off the bench. The front four is fairly stout and the Schoebel-Taylor combo of ends give the Bilphinets two guys who can get upfield and penetrate. The secondary is still the weakspot, with neither Revis nor McGee able to go heads up on Moss. Revis will have to give help to the side Moss lines up on, leaving the other in a one-on-one matchup. Whitner can fill up running lanes, but that probably isn't necessary against the Pats, so the Bilphinets will call on Dante to give the WR's a couple of licks to make them a little more leary of crossing routes.

Prediction: The Bilphinets are built around the running game, an area that has had success against the Pats. However, Losman is not effective enough to keep the defense honest, so Harrison can slide up to support the run. When the Bilphinets throw deep, Samuel comes down with at least one pick, killing a drive and leading to easy points. When the Pats have the ball, Brady is hurried in the pocket, but can throw quick slants to the WR's. The combined D stiffens twice in the red zone, but Moss breaks two long ones and Welker has another.

Lynch scores twice and Cotchery hauls a bomb in, but Nugent goes 0-2 from 45+ yards and the Pats win by a score of 27-21.

Edit: Filled out the depth chart, corrected typos...

You could put all three teams together (Jets/Bills/Dolphins) and the Pats still win going away.

New England has 13 wins, the Jets/Bills/Dolphins have 10.

Another question -- who would be favored in a game between the 2007 Dolphins and 2007 Patriots if the Dolphins were playing 12 on 11 in all three phases of the game?

To illustrate how truly awful the Dolphins really are...

If the Jets combined with the Dolphins, the overwhelming majority of players would still be Jets (assuming we are playing the best at each position).

Jason Taylor and possibly Vonnie Holliday on defense (although they run different schemes). Zach Thomas? When both are healthy, you couldn't take him above Vilma. You might be able to consider Porter, but honestly, his stats are fairly comparable to Victor Hobson. I see no one on the offensive side who I would put above their Jet counterpart. Possibly David Martin at TE, but I would call him a push with Chris Baker.

Plus, if you combined those teams together, it woudl create a rip in the space/time continuum. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together- mass hysteria!

I was going to point this out as well.....Taylor would be nice to stick in there... And at this point with the WR injuries, Ginn may get out on the field...... Other than that, the Miami roster doesn't help much other than some depth.

I think this team could give it a go. The QB situation is a wreck, though. And it assumes that both teams are healthy (see: Bell & Brown)

Offense

QB - Chad Pennington

RB - Ronnie Brown/Thomas Jones

WR - Laveranues Coles/Jerricho Cotchery/Ted Ginn/Marty Booker

TE - Chris Baker/David Martin

OT - D'Brickashaw Ferguson

OG - Rex Hadnot

C - Nick Mangold

OG - Adrien Clarke

OT - Vernon Carey

Defense

DE - Jason Taylor

DT - Dewayne Robertson

DT - Kenyon Coleman

DE - Shaun Ellis

OLB - David Harris

MLB - Zach Thomas

OLB - Jonathan Vilma

CB - Darrelle Revis

CB - Will Allen

SS - Kerry Rhodes

FS - Yeremiah Bell

And Zach THomas is out... The rest are questionable upgrades....the real difference and healthy guy would be having the use of Jason Taylor who they might line up at OLB, that would be nice!!!

Oh yeah. Thomas too.I didn't want to bother figuring out how it would work with a 3-4. The personnel available might be better suited to that scheme, but I still understand how a 4-3 works better.

As long as the Jetphins can play all 22 starters at the same time.
Instead of the Jetphins, I suggest this name for the combined Dolphins - Jets: the Dolts.
Sorry, Sulla, but OddibeMcD is a step ahead of you

Jets shock the world and beat the Pats in NE this Sunday. You heard it here first.
