If you are S.Payton and win the coin toss on MNF... (1 Viewer)

Clearly this game is more about the fans & city of NO than the teams. If you are Payton and win the toss, do you re-Christian the Superdome by putting the poster boy for the city's revitilization back there to be the first player to touch the ball? You know the fans would love it.

I know Bush is used on PR & not KR due to higher chance of collision/injury on KOs, but it certainly would make for one of--if not the--most dramatic kickoff in NFL history.

I think you're putting too much thought into it. I'd want my boys to follow some routine and not deviate from it

No. I feel for New Orleans but Atlanta will silence the Superdome by the 2nd quarter. Fans will have the :bag: over their heads and some will be rooting for a Mike Vick circus play.

Who cares what the fans want? And no, it's not more about the fans and city than the teams involved. What the hell do the Falcons care about the people of New Orleans? Seriously, not to sound like a jerk, but it's just really not even about any of that. It's about two teams, each trying to win a football game. Period.

I think Bush will have a fine NFL career, but his impact on games has been greatly exaggerated these first two weeks. Bush hasn't exactly faced world-beating defenses his first two games yet his YPC is 3.4. Atlanta's done a good job of stuffing the run vs. Carolina and Tampa, and while Deuce is easily the best back they've seen and easily their toughest challenge to date, Bush is not a North-South runner, and a sidelines-to-sidelines guy will be eaten up by Atlanta's speed on defense. The Saints may get some good yardage from screens to Bush, but I doubt that will last longer than the 1st quarter, after which Atlanta will make adjustments. I really can't see this as anything more exciting than a 10 point win for the Falcons.

you're talking about 1 kickoff return in the biggest moment in franchise history (face it, the Saints have no franchise history BUT bad).

In this incredible moment, I think you take a note from Keyshawn's book. :football:

Im glad this can be determined 20 carries into his carreer.

I think that you're overestimating the drama of the kickoff. Or underestimating the rest of the history of the NFL. I wouldn't put him back there. There's a reason he's not out there on kickoff returns. It doesn't become less valid just because of this being the first game back in the Superdome (which IS a big event). How silly would Payton look if the injury they're trying to avoid did happen? Also, there's no guarantee that Bush would get the ball even if he was put back there.
