If you have Chris Henry, you start him this week! (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
1) S.D. shouldn't have problems scoring, and Cincy will need to keep pace.

2) The weather in Cincinnati on Sunday will be clear and a balmy 51°.

3) Cincinnati won't be able to run on the Chargers. You know it... I know it.

4) Jammer will be covering C.J.

5) T.J. will get a lot of attention from the other DBs, as usual.

6) Palmer was furious with Henry last week. Henry will want to make up for it.

7) Summary: Henry goes for 100+ and at least one score.

Seems elementary to me.

I'm not sure Henry is mentally capable of "trying harder." He "should" have something to prove, but he probably doesn't care.

Henry has been extremely productive in every game he's played since Week 1. Honestly, I'd start him against anyone based on that fact alone until he gives me a reason to sit him. The guy is a major tool but he's also a major talent and he brings a lot to the Bengals' offense and they will continue to use him in my opinion.

I started him last week in one of my leagues.. don't see why I wouldn't this week.

Palmer seems to like him.

That and he has a higher PPG than Chad Johnson.

I guess what I meant is, give Henry the nod if you have a close decision. For instance, I'm starting him over Randy. But then again, I have Denver's defense... so it wasn't a very difficult call for me.

I think LT2 will run wild this week and Cinci will counter that with Rudi running the ball. It is not going to be shoot-out. Cinci will want to eat the clock and rest their defense in order to contain LT2. That said, I'm starting Henry only because I don't have better options.

No, I don't know that. Steven Jackson ran well on SD, Larry Johnson ran well on SD, Willie Parker ran well on SD, etc. They all did this while Merriman was playing. Merriman isn't even playing right now. I don't see why Rudi can't run on them.

Agreed. With Merriman out, Philips out, Castillo dinged, McCree dinged, I don't think it is a given that they won't be able to run. They were able to grind out more yards against Baltimore than I though they would and they are much tougher against the run than SD.

I don't know - did you see the end of Cincy's last game? Palmer (and no doubt the rest of the Bengals) was pretty pissed at Henry. Henry gave up on the ball when the game was on the line. Palmer may try to forget stuff like that, but it's got to stick in the back of his mind. Not saying he's not starting material, but as usual he has issues.

Is anyone else worried that Henry's penchant for catching a long bomb or a TD every week is what is providing the bulk of his fantasy value? I mean last week, that 71 yard bomb doesn't get ruled in his favor and his statline is 1/8/0. I'm not trying to rewrite history here, but if you consider week 1 and the 1/8/0 potential statline from last week, that would make 2 games out of basically 5 where he did nothing for your team. Big fat goose egg.

The guy is an NFL WR3. And as far as I'm concerned Palmer '06 doesn't equal Manning '04 and you can't expect a TD every week. Do you really have the balls to start this guy every week, or are you other options not much better? Seems almost like a desperation gamble as a 3rd fantasy WR. I have Henry on my roster, but I just can't bring myself to start him.

That's what I'm worried about. For my WR3 I have to decide between Henry, Joe Horn or D.Henderson. If Horn is questionable I'll be forced to go with Henry.

I don't see Henry as a great option this week....

#1 #85 is going to be the focal point of the passing game, after seeing the sadness on his face....I think M.Lewis does all he can to make Chad happy, even if for 1 week.

#2 Rudi will get plenty of touches to keep LT off the field and keep the game close.

#3 after last week, I'd be surprised if Palmer even gives him more than 5-6 looks

I hope I'm wrong since I have Palmer, but I don't see big things from Henry vs. San Diego

So you're saying that if Henry gets open - which he has done more than successfully against every defense he's faced so far - that Palmer is going to ignore him on purpose just because he's steamed about the Hail Mary play last week? I don't buy that - especially given how the Bengals are fighting for their lives right now. Henry has been absolute money since Week 1 whenever he's been on the field. The Bengals' offense has been more productive with him than without him. The Chargers, like every other team, are going to be very conscious of Chad Johnson which means Henry will see single coverage all day - quite possibly against safeties and reserve corners. I agree the guy is a tool and there's no question Palmer was plenty pissed off last week but there's no way he freezes him out if Henry is open and there are big plays available. No way.

A few people have mentioned this. That's great, in theory, until the Chargers score on three of their first four possessions. Then it's out the window. As Mike Tyson once said "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." What I'm saying is, the Chargers defense is better than Cincy's, which means that they have a pretty fair chance to get a lead on the Bengals.Rudi will no longer get "plenty of touches" if they are far behind and Rudi is getting 2.5/carry.

Because Cincy's offensive line is hurting and playing horribly right now?

Rudi did pretty well last weekend against the Ravens #2 Rush D.

:goodposting: I do not think that there is a bigger mismatch currently in the NFL than Henry against any team's # 3 guy. It's just unfair.
