Just won my super competetive longtime money league. I'm a one-leaguer (are there any of us left?). I though this might be an interesting topic, who is your team's MVP? I am curious as to the thoughts.

My team was deep and unspectacular, no Brady/Westbrook/Romo to carry it. I think if I had to name an MVP it'd be Portis. Started every week, consistenly putting up 9-15 pts in my league's scoring, and coming up huge with 21 pts this week at Minnesota. Close runner up would be Braylon who served as a #1 WR despite his draft position (I think I got him in the 7th, and ironically I drafted him as my 3rd WR behind Owens and Fitz). B. Marshall (whom I traded for) a close third - so consistent and a huge game in round one of the playoffs to carry me.

Thoughts?

 
TO or LT. Hard to pick. One of them always seemed to come through when the other didn't.

Wouldn't have made it at all if not for Welker and Grant coming in to fill up injured spots.

So hard to give it to one, but our league devalues WRs a bit so I'll give it to LT.

wow. these are all the guys I drafted (#1spot) and I thank FBGs Draft Dominator for a great draft.

Anyway...I am going to give it to...PORTIS...the guy out performed and is a stud...Witten a close second.

 
There's no doubt in my mind that Witten won my season for me. LT underperformed, Portis met my expectaitions, so did Houshhhh and Cotchery, maybe even Jennings. But, Witten was the man, he overperformed and I doubt I could have withstood anyone else owning him at his draft slot

 
Witten is a stud.

I think Portis stands out for me because he out-performed in situations when I needed him the most and when he was supposed to be shut down..like against the supposedly great vikings run D.

 
Hard to pick just one, but the top MVP candidates would have to be Big Ben, Braylon, Housh and Witten with Ocho-Cinco and Winslow only slightly below them. If I had to pick one, it would probably be Braylon. The RB's were reasonable, but unspectacular for the most part. QB was steady and solid week in/week out, and the WR's/TE combo carried me most weeks. I may never be able to draft such a productive set of WR's and TE's again. Braylon was the biggest surprise performer out of the draft, and I'm sure he'll go a lot higher next year than the 7.04 pick I used to pick him up.

 
In a $100 cap auction ppr league

Portis $5 basically won week 16 for me

Witten$2 won week 14 for me

Big Ben $2 awesome weeks 15 and 16

Braylon $5 came up big week 16

They drove the cart all year for me, and came up big in the playoffs.

Portis is my 1st choice, because he got me his best point total(30) when it looked the bleakest, against the #1 rush def. He made my year.

Randy Moss and Adrian Peterson. Both had their risks at the time (which seem absolutely ridiculous now) but when week 1 came around and they dominated (350 yards +2 td combined) I knew I'd be alright.

 
These things are often a perception thing.

Purely on points contributed, LT2 in a landslide. Takes a real genius to win with the consensus #1, eh? Well, it was a little more than just winning a 1 in 12 lottery last summer.

MVP - Warner - the details are boring and tedious, but the Reader's Digest version: drafted Bulger in the 3rd, and after 4 weeks, started rotating waiver wire bums. After getting 22 points total in 8 weeks from various QBs - and winning 7 of those games - I plugged Kurt in Week 11. He had 107 points the last 6 weeks. The 6 (yeah, six) who came before him scored 49 points in 10 weeks.

Runner Up - Braylon - 7th round draft pick exceeded all expectations with 15 TDs. Have owned him in redrafts for 3 straight years, but even I wasn't starting him the first 2 weeks. He never left my lineup after that week 2 shootout with the Bungles.

Honorable Mention - Lynch and Wayne were two steady Eddies who rarely went off, and never disappointed.

Another consistent performer was Holt, who I stole for Benson after Week 3 from an owner starving for a RB. At the time Bulger was getting slapped around every week, nobody realized how well Torry can manage pain, and SJax had just torn his groin, so it was a risky move. Best trade eva.

But of course the real answer, for all of us, is the MVP was the manager who drafted these guys and made all these brillant moves.

In both my points titles, it would be Braylon Edwards. He had the breakout year I was expecting. Runner-up would be the Chargers/Seahawks defense combo I shot for in every league I was in. That combo was gold as their schedules lineup well so I almost always had a good score in that position.

 
LT and Braylon. My team was stacked like some shathouse made out of 50 bags of herion.

In 4 years of play I've won the trophy twice, placed 2nd once, and placed 3rd once. No one wants to see me win. :goodposting:

 
Well as my 11th round pick Brett Favre surprised the hell out of me and really brought me to the big dance, even though he had an awful week 16 outing. My starting QB (bulger) only ended up playing the first few weeks for me and I thought I was screwed but old man Favre really brought it this season.

Week 16 it helped having Portis, Braylon, and LT2 though..thanks guys. And thanks to FBGuys..draft dominator helped a lot this year!!

LT and Brandon Jacobs (Lendale White as Jacobs backup)

Wayne, Marshall and Colston were money down the stretch (PPR for WRs only)

David Garrard unsong Mr. Consistency at QB.

Team was $$$$$ since Week 5

 
It was a team effort for me.

Consistent performers: Big Ben, Portis, Wayne, NE D, Cooley

Got boost from waiver wire: Grant, Graham, Folk

So I was able to win despite an underachieving first rounder (Gore; once Grant and Graham took off, Gore rode my bench for the most part) and a whiffed 5th rounder (Brandon Jackson.)

My only weak spot was WR2. Calvin Johnson was there most of the year, and I didn't snag any waiver wire gems there like I did at RB and K. Every other slot put up points for me regularly.

 
First I must thank Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior (Happy Birthday). Oh... as for players LT2 & Hasselbeck. Consistency rocks! I also have to mention Ryan Grant. What a pick up he was down the stretch!

I have LT2 and Manning and the were both very consistent and good in the playoffs. Nobody else was close to being mentioned from my team
 
Peyton Manning and Dallas Clark.

I had the second worst points scored for the year but somehow managed to -

a. make the playoffs with an 8-5 record done totally with smoke and mirrors.

b. knock off the 2nd highest scoring team in the first round.

c. knock off the clear cut best team in the league (Brady, LT, SJax, Graham just to name a few of his starters) in the championship.

I have always complained that the playoffs are all luck and the best team never wins. Now I am happy to be the worst team that won.

 
LT/Moss/Westbrook

I'm probably going to go with Moss but it depends on what the new NE Moss McFarlane figure is going to look like.

 
Season MVP=Brian Westbrook, consistent performance throughout the season. He put up double digit points every week except for 2 weeks, and the week he was injured and didn't play.

Playoff MVP=Maurice Jones Drew. He scored 22 points in the 2 weeks that regular season starter Kevin Jones went into hiding.

As for the notion that the playoffs are all luck and that the best team doesn't necessarily win. This season my team went 13-1 before winning the Championship.
