"I'll call it now" - Preseason edition (1 Viewer)

As requested, these are predictions only for preseason, which of course aren't as fun and don't necessarily mean a whole lot.
EXCELLENT post thus far, CP. Exactly the kind of things being raised as I'd hoped upon the thread's creation.I think you're spot on with the Derek Anderson, LJ & Bobby Wade calls. Not sure how well Rod Curry will do though.

My apologies for it not being 'as fun' as regular season predictions, but pretty much the rest of the SP is season-based predictions. I was hoping for a couple of storylines to be created in here that people could speculate about for a while, rather than the fifty-ten threads we have about the Titans' backfield or if Joe Addai should be taken at the 5th, 6th 7th or 8th+ pick.

By 'preseason' I don't just mean the 4 weeks of games. I mean from camp until the start of the regular season. To suggest that events taking place in that month & a half (crucial roster and depth chart decisions) 'don't necessarily mean a whole lot' is crazytalk.
Ron Curry, Rod Curry... I don't know why I do that to his name, but I do it about half the time. Fixed above. My 'don't necessarily mean a whole lot' comment wasn't referring to the preseason not being crucial, but to the value of my predictions. Same for the 'not as fun' comment -- predicting some guy will earn a WR2 job to start the year rather than predicting some guy will catch 100 passes during the year. Neither comment was meant to be a knock on your topic.

Frank Gore will tear his ACL in 2007
I hope you trip, break your ankle, fall on your face and smash your nose into 500 unrepairable pieces
We can rebuild him, we have the technology.
Ouch!! kinda of rough, dudes comment was crass, but I wouldnt wish that on any one(except Sen. Harry Reid) I love the hell out of Frank Gore but some dudes are just gonna say stupid #### and thats that. America is a wonderful place for saying any damn thing you want.
I don't wish injury on anybody...its just what I think is going to happen. Isn't this a thread for predictions??? Its not like Gore hasn't torn his ACL....TWICE already.
I think its the fact that you have a nodding smilie face after saying he'll be hurt that makes it seem like you're wishing injury and not just predicting.
Exactly.
Mark Kelly, you should know that I'm not wishing injury upon any player.

So everyone who has injury concerns about LJ is wishing for an injury? He thinks Gore is going to tear his ACL. He's done it before. He already said he wasn't hoping for it, he just thinks it will happen.Did it really upset you that much? Maybe we can arrange some counseling?

A bit different than being concerned about a player's injury possibility.

Nothing to be upset at all about, particularly when it comes from a 12 year old.

Ok, if he isn't 12, then he acts like it.

So he wasn't "concerned" enough? So he should have put :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: next to his prediction?Come on. He thinks Gore is going to get hurt due to his rather large history of injuries. People are saying the same things about LJ.

It's hilarious that the smiley is what pissed you off. Please enlighten us about your prediction etiquette. If we project a bad season for someone (Foster losing his starters job, how many :lmao: icons do we need?). Taking joy in someone losing their job? Horrendous!

Clearly we need some smiley police on this. J, please whip up some prediction rules, the board is clearly out of control.

Mark Kelly is this neccessary? I made a prediction in a prediction thread and because of a smiley face I am hoping that it will happen? He has torn it twice before and he hasn't been able to sustain a healthy period in his football career.

Is he a good player? Yes

Do I hope that he gets hurt? No, I would never wish an injury upon a player.

The reason you are upset and calling people 12 year olds? Because he is on your fantasy team, come on now.

agree with the last two posters . . .predicting and wishing are two entirely different things . . .

Preseason:

Mike Vick gets charged with the whole dog fighting thing. Though not in jail, this will loom on the entire season.

J. Norwood lights it up winning him the starting job and Dunn the relief.

Jerome Harrison goes crazy against 2nd team defenses again but Jamal Lewis will see the majority of the carries during the regular season.

L. Maroney will be limited in carries as Bill wants to keep him fresh for the regular season. The injury report will say shoulder and questions will be raised, but he'll come out of the gates for week 1 running strong and hard.

MBIII will run better than JJ. JJ will start the season as the #1 but after 2-3 games of ineffectiveness, Barber is named the starter.

K. Winslow III will show that all the injuries have started to take effect.

LJ holds out.

Texans looks great with their new Schaub and Green but reality hits week one and they drop their first 6 games.

Preseason:

Drew Carter shines and keeps Mr. Jarrett riding the Pine....

Hank Baskett again looks phenominal and convinces Philly to move Curtis to the slot, starting Mr. Baskett opposite Mr. Brown...

Michael Clayton beats out Stovell to keep the number 2 job in Tampa...giving him one last opportunity to shine again...

Brady Quinn works out his contract dispute and along with an angry Jamal Lewis, we begin to see a turn around in Cleveland...

Bert Jones comes out of retirement and leads the Colts to another title after Peyton Manning suffers a......., thought I was going to say it didn't you?

Frank Gore will tear his MCL this year (HELL YEAH!). :) :excited: :tinfoilhat:

Oh wait, is that rude? :violin:

Also:

S. Alexander will not be a top 8 back.

J. Kitna will be a top 5 QB.

Oakland Raiders will embarass themselves for 17 more weeks (yes they will screw up the bye week somehow).

A. Gates will have 85+ receptions.

Grossman has a terrible pre-season which fuels the talks for Griese. Or maybe the Bears pickup Culpepper, just in case.

Would there even be enough time on SportsCenter for anything else were this to happen? At 32, Griese's still young enough to be given another chance. You'd think he might be given a shot were he to absolutely blitz the preseason. Grossman stinking it up is a given.

Godell will hand down 3 more 8+ game suspensions before the season starts. Suprisingly, none of them are for Bengals players. All teams implement a 4:00 pm curfew on non-game days.

Just bumping this as some pretty good calls were made in here earlier. Was going to highlight the best and the worst predictions in one post, but broke my freaking thumb/hand a couple of days ago and it took me about 5 minutes just to type this.

Good to read over some of them though.

Galloway will outscore Fitzgerald.
Steve McNair will not make it through 2007 as the starter in Baltimore due to a really weak arm and Kyle Boller will play well enough to be a Hot QB FA in 2008.
I agree with thisBoller looked like a new man last year in limited reps and he has the arm strength to run this O the way it was intended. Also:Gore's production will take a downturnKitna will be a disappointment (Back)Ahman Green will be the steal of most fantasy drafts

NO players regress back to the baseline with the first place schedule (vs. last place in 2006) disappointing their owners

WSH players improve in year 2 under Saunders and reward their owners
