I'll Do It...let's talk #2 draft slot, since it's not in (1 Viewer)

Haven't had a chance do do any mocks yet....I know I have the 2 slot in a draft Labor Day weekend....after I take SJ......then what

what have some of your mocks from this spot given you in the first few rounds....

do I/we take Gates in the 3rd if he is there....RB/RB/TE....then look at WR/QB in 4th and 5th.....?...I think this is the toughest call from this spot.....Gates or a WR in the 3rd....

what about going RB/RB/RB.....(can start 3 RB's)to lock up RB and cover bye weeks....then WR/QB or W/WR in 5/6.....waiting on a QB and a TE.....

thoughts....?

I think if Portis, McGahee, or MJD fall to 2.11, you have to pull the trigger - not likely. That said, I think this is great place to snag Carson Palmer or a top WR (Holt or Owens) that might have fallen. In your start 3 RB league, you almost have to draft a RB in round 3 and I would look to Benson, Edge, or Thomas Jones with that pick.

NICE! #2 here as well.

When I run mocks and choose players for the other owners BASED ON THEIR PRIOR DRAFT STRATEGIES going back 3 years, I'm seeing Edge go @ 2.10 leaving Portis,Benson, TJ, Wayne and Fitz.

If Benson is there I'll take him and then take the top WR left after 2.12 and 3.1. If Benson is not there I probably do the reverse, take the top WR and then see what RB's are lefet after 2.12 and 3.1.

So at the turn I'm going either RB/WR or WR/RB.

I have the #2 in a 10 team league and have run several mocks. The RB's that have been available are Portis, Edge and Benson. I personally like Edge or Benson since I think that Portis is soft and can't seem to stay healthy. Also, he's had to deal with injuries this offseason.

On the way back in Round 3, I will probably go WR and guys that have been there are TO and Reggie Wayne. Either guy should be money this year.

Used the DD to conduct the mocks...

am hoping MJD falls back here.....if so then a slam dunk.......

either way I think I have to take RB2 here since the #1 spot will definately lock up the RB2 at his first turn plus probably a QB....

so I think I go SJ/RB2/WR....

SJ/MJD/Owens...........is that realistic from the 2 hole......?

SJ at 2 overall, isn't that a stretch?
No, not at all, given LJ's situation. I'm sitting at 3 in my local, and intend to go SA unless LJ gets signed before then. I'd love to snag SJ at 3. A reach? Um... who would YOU pick there?

I have #2, and plan on LJ or SA. Right now I'm leaning towards LJ, hopefully his contract situation is cleared before my draft, if not I go SA.Just amazed at so many sites and people predicting a huge season for SJ. He had such a monster year receiving last year, 90 receptions 800 yards, those numbers are going to be so hard to repeat.I might be way wrong, but I'd rather pick SA or LJ, safer picks in my opinion.

If you don't think that SJ will repeat with 90 catches (I don't think he will either), do you think that LJ will get more than 457 touches this year?? I doubt it which means that LJ's production will be hard to repeat.I think that SJax is in a much better situation. Better QB, threats at WR to open up some lanes, vastly superior O line, easier schedule and reps in preseason point to SJax being the safer pick...

In what galaxy is SA a safer pick than SJax? Alexander is a 30-year old playing at a position that is historically unkind to older players, and he saw his ypc drop by *1.5* last season. Moreover, for his entire career he's had people, including his own coach, questioning his toughness- not a good thing to have questioned when you're poised to crack the top-20 in career carries. Personally, I don't even have Alexander in my top 12, and I know I'm not even close to alone on this.As for LJ... setting an NFL record for carries in a season (or even approaching the record) has generally not been conducive to production in year N+1, and Johnson's ypc also had a big decline last year (.9 ypc).

I know you think that S-Jax's receiving numbers were a total fluke and he's not going to repeat that. That's fine with me, I totally agree. Let's say that S-Jax only gets 30 catches for 250 yards and 1 TD this season- which I'm sure we'll all agree are *WELL* below his floor projections. If he repeats his rushing numbers from last season, that gives him 1800 yards and 14 scores, which would more than justify the selection. Even without his receiving totals, S-Jax is still a stud.

As for what else to do with the #2 draft slot... I'd actually grab Gates in the second, unless someone falls who just shouldn't still be there (like Steve Smith or Maurice Jones-Drew). The thinking is that the dropoff between who you were going to get in the 2nd and who will still be there 2 picks later is minimal, at best... but the dropoff between Antonio Gates and whoever else you might have drafted in the 3rd is huge. Why risk exposing Gates to the LT owner and hoping he doesn't have the same strategy that you do when you don't have to?

Yeah I shouldn't have brought up the SA vs LJ vs SJ debate. As it's just a preference. Great to start off your draft with any of those guys. So I guess it doesn't really matter who someone picks out of that 3. 2nd and 3rd round picks, unless somone falls like you mentioned SSOGI think I would go with the following:GatesBenson/Portis

I have #2 in a 14-team league and the names I´ve been consistently seeing at 2.13 during several mocks are RBs like Brandon Jacobs, Carnell Williams, Marshawn Lynch, Deuce...

Carson Palmer was always there and I´ve taken him along with a top WR in some drafts and thought some of the RB/QB/WR teams looked better than some of my RB/RB/WR teams.

For example, I thought my team in this mock turned out decent when going RB/QB/WR (te req)

QB Carson Palmer CIN 2.13

QB Jeff Garcia TBB 11.02

RB Steven Jackson STL 1.02

RB Jerious Norwood ATL 4.13

RB Kevin Jones DET 7.02

RB Leon Washington NYJ 8.13

WR Anquan Boldin ARI 3.02

WR Santana Moss WAS 5.02

WR Joey Galloway TBB 6.13

WR Mike Furrey DET 10.13

TE Alge Crumpler ATL 9.02

For a two QB league, one could make a case for going QB/RB/best available. Thoughts on this type of league?

Even in a 2-QB league I'd be hard pressed to see taking Manning over S-Jax, although I suppose someone else with more experience on this type of league could say better than I.

from the number 2 hole....10 team, non ppr

kitna, big ben

sjax, tjones, caddy, mb3, foster

TO, Reggie, TJ Housh, DJ Hackett, D. Henderson

VD

Elam

Minn.

going RB/WR/WR worked out ok.

Nice thread...

I just had my draft over the weekend (12-team PPR). SJax fell to me at #3 :excited:

We start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE/WR, K, DEF

I ended up going RB/WR/WR and ended up with...

Big Ben, Leftwich (yuck)

SJax, Cadillac, AGreen, JJones

Holt, Fitz, Burress, SanHolmes, Cotchery, Witten

Gostkowski

CAR DEF

First year of a 12-team, 8-player keeper league. No PPR, all TD's 6pts. Can keep 4 players for 3yrs and 4 players for 2yrs. Start 1QB,2RB,3WR,1TE,1K,1DEF

1.02 S Jackson (a great cornerstone for my new keeper team)

2.11 A Peterson (18th RB taken; he wouldn't have lasted to 3.02, makes for a great young RB stable for 3yrs to come)

3.02 R Wayne (3rd WR taken after CJ and SSmith; love this guy, he'll have a stable QB and prolly be Indy's future WR1)

4.11 TJ Housh (incredible value here; 15th WR taken; L Evans went 2 picks earlier at 4.09)

5.02 D Driver (17th WR taken; I now have 3 WRs in my top-13 rankings in a start-3 league)

6.11 V Young (was going to wait until 7.02, but didn't want to press my luck; Kitna taken 5.08 and Romo at 6.04)

7.02 A Green (happy with this value; in my mind, he'll be a perfect RB2 while Minnesota figures ADP's role out early on)

8.11 T Glenn (nice WR4 to plug in based on matchups & byes; I think the TDs balance out a bit this year btwn he & Owens)

9.02 J Witten (maybe a slight reach; this was the 6th TE taken; I like Witten in this offense for a few years)

10.11 L Washington (slight reach; D Foster, who I was hoping would make it here, went right before me at 10.10)

11.02 R Grossman (will play DET during V Youngs bye week; hopeful for a dome shootout)

12.11 K Curtis (WR5; meh)

13.02 PIT DEF (wanted to pair them with TEN or OAK, but as you see it never worked out)

14.11 Jerome Harrison (future upside)

15.02 Jason Hanson (dome, good offense, we'll see)

16.11 CIN DEF (at least I can match up against CLE 4x this year with my 2 Defenses)

17.02 Jacoby Jones (flyer, but I'll get to watch him locally a lot this year; ya never know)

PPR that starts 1 QB / 1 RB/ 2 WR/ 1 TE/ 1 K/ 1 DEF/ 2 Flex

I plan on going Sjax/WR/WR(or gates)

All depends on your scoring system.

how you feeling about Cadillac? I think he´ll be there for me when I go 2.13 in a 14-team redraft, but even with the improved QB situation and ¨better" O-line I´m not sure about his durability and inconsistent play, but it looks like at that spot heś the best of the worst. Jacobs and Lynch are even worse options.I´m thinking Palmer and a stud WR at the turn and wait until the 4th round for RB2. not sure.

After running many mocks this week, I'm seeing what others are seeing and what has been discussed in the Perfect Draft Articles.

RB/WR/WR may not be a bad way to go. It seems there will be a lot of RB's available in Rounds 5 and 6 that have huge upside.

Depending on who falls, I'm going RB/RB/WR or RB/WR/WR

SJ 1.02

Interesting. I'm second in a 12 team league (which also gives 1 pt/rec ONLY to TEs) and the DD is screaming at me to take Gates at the 2-3 turnaround. But I've also built a similarly-rated team going WR-WR (Harrison-TO or similar) there and picked up Kellen Winslow later. One thing I feel sure about, though, is I won't take a so-so RB over a stone cold stud at another position there.

Had my draft last weekend and had the 2nd pick.

10 team

1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1K 1D PPR

1.2 S.Jax (much safer than LJ. SA not even considered here)

2.9 Steve Smith

3.2 Edge (almost went with Ced Ben. still a little remorse)

4.9 TJ Housh

5.2 Antonio Gates

6.9 Brandon Jacobs

7.2 Matt Leinart

8.9 Miami D - (run on defenses here. I was almost last to pick up a D)

9.2 Jerricho Cotchery

10.9 Deshaun Foster

11.2 Jay Cutler

12.9 Santonio Holmes

13.2 Vince Young

14.9 Philly D

Just got back from a 10 team re-draft PPR where I had the #2 pick. We start QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D. I've been planning all along to go SJax-WR-WR and then see what's left at RB in the 4th or 5th rd. I'll have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how this went. I got:

1 Jackson

2 Harrison

3 TO

4 Brady

5 Portis

6 Peterson, MIN

7 Branch

8 Jennings

9 Barber III

10 V Davis

11 Curry

12 B Marshall

13 Favre

Had #2 in two different leagues. The first is ppr. Went Sjax, Roy, Portis, Coles, Green, Bears, Berian, Roethlisberger, Betts.....Leonard(15)

Other league (non ppr) Sjax, Steve Smith, Ocho Cinco, Green, Kitna (qb's went early), Fred Taylor, DeShaun Foster, Greg Jennings....Michael Turner, Leonard...

Not too bad. I regret not going wr-wr in the 2nd and 3rd picks in the first league, but hopefully Portis will make me not regret it....

I drafted in the #2 slot in a 12-team redraft this weekend. All td's 6 pts, 1pt 10 yd rush/rec, 1 pt 25 yds pass, TE get .5 pt ppr

Have to start QB-RB-2WR-TE-K-Def and 2 Flex (RB/WR/TE)

Round

1 Jackson

2 T. Owens

3. Gates

4. Ward

5. Randy Moss

6. Dunn (is his foot ok??)

7. Barber III

8. Betts

9. Jerry Porter

10. Vinateri

11. McMichael

12. Favre

13. Brandon Marshall

14. Raiders Def

15. Furrey

16. Alex Smith (QB)

Looking back, I would've taken Jamal Lewis (instead of Dunn) in the 6th  :lmao:

just finished up a 10 team draft picking from the 2 spot.

Start 2 QB, 3 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DEF

I'm not happy with my QBs but we will see how it turns out.

QB - Rivers, Leftwich, Jackson

RB - SJax, Bush, Caddy, A Green, Brandon Jackson, Brian Leonard (handcuff)

WR - Evans, Burress, Galloway, Holmes, B Marshall

TE - Miller, Daniels

PK - Gostkowski

DEF - Miami, Buffalo

Our league were all over WRs and QBs early (despite it not being PPR) so I kept selecting RB depth

12 team, redraft, .5 PPR for RB, 1.0 for everyone else, 5 for TDs

1.02 - Steven Jackson

2.11 - Terrell Owens

3.02 - Adrian Peterson

4.11 - Santana Moss

5.02 - Hines Ward

6.11 - Tony Romo

7.02 - Jericho Cotchery

8.11 - Jason Witten

9.02 - Chester Taylor

10.11 - Ronald Curry

11.02 - Jax D

12.11 - Michael Pittman

13.02 - Alex Smith

14.11 - Brian Leonard

15.02 - Oakland D

16.11 - Dwayne Jarrett

17.02 - Jason Hanson

18.11 - Chris Henry WR

Fairly happy with the team, really counting on Peterson to put up good numbers. But if he doesn't its flex so I can start SJax and 4 WRs.

Our draft was a couple of weekends ago (a little early, but only time we could get everyone together):

#2, 10 team redraft. Start QB, RB, RB/WR, 2 WR, TE, K, DEF

6/td, 1/20 passing, 1/10 rush/receiving

our owners tend to draft the starting lineup first and then go back to fill in

1.2 SJAX

2.9 Harrison

3.2 Edgerrin James

4.9 Housh

5.2 Cadillac

6.9 San Diego DEF

7.2 Cutler

8.9 Galloway

9.2 Winslow Jr

10.9 G. Jennings (probably will drop for another WR, such as Curry)

11.2 Favre

12.9 M. Turner (just in case LT gets hurt)

13.2 Stover

14.9 Buffalo DEF (already dropped and picked up Minn)

15.2 D. Graham (looking for another potential BYE week TE)

16.9 Hackett

I am picking second in a 12 team league.

Every mock I run has me doing this in the first two:

1. Steven Jackson

2. Terrell Owens

in the third I see Adrian Peterson or Portis being available.....

I am really on the fence here... who should I pick and why?

Just finished from #2 in 10 team league....1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 1te, 1 flex, d/st and k...no ppr

QB: Young and Big Ben

RB: SJax, Adrian Peterson (the good one), Dunn, Foster, C. Brown, Leonard (HC)

WR: Ocho Cinco, Javon Walker, Santana Moss, Santonio Holmes, V. Jackson,

TE: Gates

D: Miami

K: Gotskowski

Went RB/WR/TE and took risk on Gates

A bit light in the RB for my liking as Adrian better be the man--RB3 is weak

love the receivers and the 2 quality QB although that usually gives me matchup headaches and I screw them up

thoughts?

Very similar to mine.....QB: VY (7.02) and Big Ben (10.02)RB: SJax (1.02), Ahman Green (4.09), Adrian Petersen (5.02), Tatum Bell (6.09), Brian Leonard (15), Leon Washington (12)WR: Chad (2.09), Steve Smith (3.02), Cottchery (8), Galloway (9) TE: Jason Witten (11)

I just drafted from the 2, 12 team Re-Draft, standard performance w/ 2 pt bonus for 100+ yds, and 1.0 PPR

1.2 S. Jax

2.11 C. Benson (wanted to go w/ Owens, but I knew the guy at 2.12/3.1 was wanting to go RB/RB due to the massive RB run in our 2nd round)

3.2 R.Wayne (wanted T.O., but he went 3.1)

4.11 Ja. Walker

5.2 Br. Edwards

6.11 J. Cotchery (WR's are pretty well solidified at this point... lol)

7.2 B. Roethlisberger (Huge QB run in the 6th, Big Ben was the 11th QB taken)

8.11 Len. White (Hate his as a RB3, especially w/ Jax and Benson both bye in wk 9... but again, these guys cleaned the RB's out)

9.2 B. Watson

10.11 J. Campbell (another QB run in the 10th, w/ the guy at 10.12/11.1 still needing a back-up)

11.2 V. Morency

12.11 B. Marshall

13.2 B. Scaife

14.11 Green Bay D (another run.. Defenses went crazy in the 13th, 2 people already had their second D by the time I made this pick)

15.2 Dem. Williams-Bal

16.11 Anthony Thomas

17.2 J. Reed (4 teams already picked 2 kickers... I swear, sometimes it's impossible to figure this league out)

Overall... I dunno. I hated to go WR's 4 rounds in a row 3-6, but the value was there, and I thought I would get a better RB3 until the QB run forced my hand in the 7th. I think Draft Dominator had my team as 3rd overall power, 5th in Started Power. I really took it on the Defense and Kicker... couldn't believe how everyone followed the runs on those, even for back-ups. I've had better drafts, but we'll see.

I just drafted from #2, 12 team Re-Draft, all TDs 6 pts, 3 pt bonus for 75 yd rec or rush. 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR/TE, 1 FLEX (RB/WR/TE), 1 K, 1 D

1.2 S. Jax

2.11 M. Drew

3.2 T. Brady (QBs go fast in this league)

4.11 L. Evans

5.2 A. Peterson (MIN)

6.11 Calvin Johnson

7.2 Chicago Defense

8.11 T. Heap

9.2 B. Berrian

10.11 V. Davis

11.2 M. Stover

12.11 S. McNair

13.2 A. Thomas

14.11 A. Peterson (Chi)

15.2 D. Boston

Not too unhappy with the draft. QBs are the highest scorer and tend to go quickly. Basically I set up tiers and thought WRs are a huge tier since they either need a TD or at least 75 yds to get points. I was surprised MJD lasted to the second pick and thought it was a nice pickup. I could have went SJax/MJD/Benson, but opted for Sjax/MJD/Brady as I figured Peterson would fall to me later, which he did.

I just had #2 in a 12 team PPR Redraft (1QB/2RB/2WR/1TE/1DEF/1k) QBs 6pt TD

1.02 Steven Jackson

2.11 Steve Smith

3.02 Marvin Harrison

4.11 Tony Romo (QBs go very quick in this league and I was targeting McNabb but he got picked a few before)

5.02 Jerious Norwood (A reach I know, but I have a good feeling about him)

6.11 Kellen Winslow

7.02 Julius Jones

I also snagged Miami's D and Shayne Graham
