I'm in the middle of Maryland with nothing to do. (1 Viewer)

What the hell do you people do around here. Lots of housing developments and development housing and shopping centers, and center shopping, and shopping center development, and newly planted trees.  As for housing, stone facade is mandatory.  Want a house?  Sure, we got one for you, just what you need, it's got faux stone out front, and a fence around the yard with adjacent fences around the other adjacent yards ALL OF WHICH LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME.  I come to places like this and it looks like the big bang just hit the rest of the country and human beings just started inhabiting places like this.

What the hell does one do around here?

TIA

At least when I visit south Jersey for a weekend I can be like "honey, I'm hitting AC, see you later."  Here it's like "well this Residence Inn has a pool, and they have M&Ms at the front desk if I feel like getting wild."

Horseshoe Casino in Balitmore. Right next to neighborhood prominently featured in the Wire. Live a little. If all else fails, get some crab cakes and pound some Natty Boh, hon.

Maryland Live Casino is nice IMO.

Non smoking so the air is clear and they have every table game.  Easy parking, easy valet.

Go play some blackjack and enjoy yourself.

Baltimore isn't the middle of Maryland.  Hagerstown?  Cumberland?  There used to be a stretch of road between the two where there wasn't even radio reception.

GB and GL Otis.

The aquarium is nice at the Inner Harbor....not sure if they moved stadiums or not but the Orioles played really close to it.

I lived in MD, easily the worst 5 years of my life. I hate it so much there, I can't even...god, now I'm getting mad just thinking about it. #### that state, seriously. #### you, Maryland. #### off and die.

Eastern shore is pretty nice though.

Somewhere in that area on I-68 there is an amazing road cut through a mountain. Otis might enjoy seeing that.

I can imagine what a comedown it must be from the high-wire life of landscaping and all-day potato eating you are used to.

Get mugged.  After that, skip the crab cakes and go right to the steamed crabs.  A dozen ought to help you kill 3 hours or so.

Anyone wanna pick me up and drive to the Maryland Live Casino?  Drinks on me.

Is Pumpernickles still there in Olney? Used to eat there quite often
No, never heard of it.  My wife is claiming that Pumpernickel's used to be where the Harris Teeter now is.  Not sure why they needed to add a fourth grocery store within a quarter mile of other.

Otis, we can go grocery store hopping together.  Wild times.

Yeah, it's been 10 years since I lived there. IIRC, Pumpernickels was in an older shopping center. Please tell me Boarman's (sp?) is still on 108 and Highland Rd. I've been around a few butcher shops in my time and they were as good as any.

Sounds like a craphole with no outdoor sports I'd never survive there.  We got 6 coho salmon and 2 king salmon fishing Lake Michigan today.  Threw 2 brown trout and a lake trout back. Had the salmon for dinner.  What a beautiful day on the water.

If you're at Resdience Inn Gaithersburg you're obviously at Rio. You're right. Its awful. You could have gone to Great Falls today. You're pretty close to the Potomac River and the C&O Canal. Tons of history around, too.

Not sure.  Just moved here a couple years ago and am still getting familiarized.  You ever hit the Big Greek Cafe on Norbeck Rd.?

Otis, if you meet me at the Big Greek Cafe you'll be my gyro.

Oats if it were just me, I'd be there to take you to Baltimore.  However telling the wife that I'm going out to pick up Otis from the innerwebs would seem really sketchy.  Catch an Uber and go enjoy yourself.  And please don't judge Maryland by all Olney.

Yea, Maryland's got no fishing available.  Sucks for us.

Go ahead.  Tell her I'll be there soon.

I saw that and thought maybe my eyes got crossed or something. Look at a freaking map, spreagle.
Hey I got some skin in this game, I'm going to DC this summer for a week (not my choice), all my manly hunting/gathering implements that I normally take with me will be left at home due to expected liberal interference.  Even if something is allowed I figure the licensing/permitting process isn't worth the trouble.  An evening ghostwalk is the best adventure idea I could come up with.
