I'm rolling the dice on..... (1 Viewer)

Seeing that I have Tony Romo as my QB, and there's not much out there on the market, I'm going to gamble on Bruce to get me through this week and keep me undefeated. Thus far the Texans defense has allowed:

Peyton Manning: 40/57, 433yds, 3TD, 0INT

Donovan McNabb: 28/38, 426yds, TD, 0INT

Tony Romo: 23/30 284yds, 2TD, 0INT

Granted, these QB's skill sets are far superior to Bruce, but he is averaging 7.4 yards per attempt as those three average 9.1 per attempt. I wouldn't be shocked to see Bruce do something around 22/35 for close to 300 yards, 2TD and an INT.

Shark pool chime in, ready, set, go!

I think it's a decent play to get Grads as a bye week filler. He's facing the worst pass defense in the league, and will probably be forced to air it out to keep up with the potent Texan offense. He may be a step down from what you expect from Romo, but that small decrease is something you can wheather if your undefeated team is truly potent. As a Romo owner, I'd grab Grads too if I didn't already have Vick.

Good luck. :jawdrop:

Same here picked him up as well. Romo in on the bye and Big Ben in the out house one more week.

Fingers crossed he has a decent game.

I'm with you having Romo on bye. I'm currently trying to decide b/w Gradkowski vs. Houston, Sanchez @ Buffalo, or Henne vs. New England.

I agree with your thinking on Gradkowski, but I am currently leaning toward Henne. I think they may have to throw to stay in the game much like Oakland.

Wondering what you guys think?

I was thinking the same thing. With Romo out and my backup QB being Eli Manning, I'm considering playing Gradkowski over him. Interceptions are really hurting and you have to like Gradkowski's matchup. This is a really gutsy move though so I'm inclined to not do it unless my opponent is really favored and I need the kind of high ceiling/low floor gamble.

Trying to decide b/w Grad and Henne..

Those of you who are going with Gradkowski, was Henne available?

I have Henne and Gradkowski as well, trying to decide between the 2 of them. Currently have Henne selected, I would love some advice on this choice, however...

Exactly my situation as well. Bruuuuuuce.

I have Henne right now. Although I may switch to Grad because Oak may be down and throwing more. Mia def is pretty good, even vs the Pats.

My backup is Derek Anderson, and I am dropping Anderson for Gradkowski. While this is merely a bye week pickup, I am starting to buy Gradkowski as a QB. The team seems to rally around the guy. He reminds me of Rich Gannon. Not an elite player, but a player that works hard and appears to be a solid leader.

Romo owner here, as well.

I like Henne > Gradkowski since that NE defense is just as bad and I think talent wise Henne is way better.

In my FA pool.. 12 team league I dropped Garrard to get Gradkowski. Then there's:

Shaun Hill

Vince Young

Charlie Batch

Seneca Wallace

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Jimmy Clausen.

Picked up Bruce last week, considering dropping Anderson this week... My QB's are Farve, Garrard, Sanchez, Gradkowski, Anderson..

Trying to decide between Bruce and Sanchez this week... Could what we've seen from Sanchez be fools gold?

Tough call. But I would go with Gradkowski. NYJ doesn't have to pass that much vs Buff soft run defense. The Hou/Oak game could result in a shootout. Houston has the worst pass def in the league.

Do you start him over a guy like McNabb or Palmer? Is he considered a top 12 QB this week against Houston or a guy who will put up some stats, although rather pedestrian ones?

I'm thinking 24-36 for 282 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. Standard scoring = about 17 points (too lazy to do the math!)

I think your projection is reasonable. HOU has a pretty bad pass D.I wouldn't be surprised if Gradkowski outscores McNabb. I definitely think Gradkowski will outscore Palmer.

I like Gradkowski, but in no way do I bench McNabb@Phil for Gradkowski.

If you're rolling with Gradkowski, hope Murphy's shoulder injury isn't serious. That would be a major blow to Gradkowski's potential if Murphy's out.

Just fanning the flames on the start Gradkowski train engine. He faces the horrific Texan pass defense on Sunday. Good luck all you rent-a-Grads-for-a-week guys.

Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski said he's confident the Raiders will resolve their red-zone issues (3 touchdowns in a league-high 13 opportunities).

"The redzone ... That's a positive thing, a good thing that we have to correct," he said. "We're getting in there a lot, but now we just have to convert and get touchdowns. We see that the plays are there. It's just the little things. It's tuning them up and sometimes its just getting the timing finished with the guys and knowing precisely what they are going to do. It's just getting that last detail ironed out so we get the ball in the endzone."

So, it's execution and not play calling?

"I think the main thing is execution. We have some plays there and we just need to finish and we need to tune down and tone up those skills in the redzone. That is the toughest part of the field -- everything gets tighter. It's a good thing that we have to fix."

deciding between Hasselbeck @ STL or Gradkowski...
I'm in the same boat and going with Hasselbeck (Romo's on bye). It's way to risky to start Gradkowski because a) it's the Raiders and b) even though the matchup looks juicy on paper, the Raiders always find some way to screw it up.I remember being forced to start Bush last year against Cleveland expecting a big game. Not only did he not have a big game, but they passed 4 straight times on 1st and goal at the one and failed to even score. I don't trust the Raiders.I'm starting Hass with confidence.

Will Bruce outscore Flacco? I want to go with Bruce but as soon as I do Flacco will blow up and have a big game against the Steelers.

im gonna roll with gradkowski over shaub....aj iffy and that guy i saw called "scrabble" is a great corner for tha raiders...

Might have no one to throw to.

Both of the Raiders' starting wide receivers, Louis Murphy (clavicle) and Darrius Heyward-Bey (groin) are listed as questionable for Week 4.

Both were limited in Friday's practice. "I think they'll be all right," assured coach Tom Cable. He'd better hope so. Only one Raiders wideout (Johnnie Lee Higgins) has caught a pass so far on the season, and Higgins only has one reception. Because of the 4:05ET start, both Murphy and Heyward-Bey will be hard to wait for

They passed 4 straight times from the goal line?I'm bumping Gradkowski up a spot or two in light of this information.

Was thinking of grabbing him due to his match-up this week over guys like Hass and Henne. But, there is no way I would use him if his top 3 receiving threats are not playing or limited. There is only so much he can do. Maybe throw to Run DMC all day....

I am seriously contemplating starting him....I just picked him up and against the HOU pass def is appealing.

My other options:

Mcnabb

Eli

I know this is not the AC board but any reason why I should start either instead of Gradkowski?

I have the same situation (plus S. Hill just for giggles) and I'm starting Bruce. Great match-up and the team just seems to be rallying behind him. Plus, who knows if they'll even try a FG after SeBass apparently roofied himself last week.

IN

Startin Graddy in three leagues, over Flacco (in 2) and Schaub in the other ...

Love my Texans but their secondary has been horrific so far ... hopefully Murphy & DHB play and the Texans run game can outpace the OAK aerial attack

24-39, 278 yds, 2 tds, 2int.I guess that wasn't a bad guess. I'll take the solid week but sigh for picking him up for Garrard, lol.
