I started this thread topic a couple of years ago and I think it's a good one because it gives us all a birds-eye view of some of the tougher calls the fantasy community is struggling with on a week per week basis. One thing this thread isn't or should be, is a WDIS thread. This isn't supposed to be a call for help. This is supposed to be a thread for people to post the tough lineup decisions they've ALREADY MADE or are expecting to make.

Ok, now that I got that stuff is out of the way, here are some of my tougher lineup calls for this week on a few of my fantasy teams.

1. Jake Plummer over Alex Smith, Chad Pennington - Needless to say Plummer was instrumental in guiding this fantasy team to a disgusting 0-1 start to the season. He's a veteran QB, playing at home (Denver is sooo much more of a safer bet at home), against a team that is on the ropes. Plummer has to come up with the goods this week or he risks losing his job, he knows it, and I think this veteran gunslinger will come through with his back to the wall.

2. Chester Taylor over Willie Parker - The loss of Dan Morgan to the Panthers defensive front shouldn't be minimized. That should really help Taylor find some decent holes to run through. Parker's good, but I'm worried about Davenport taking his TD's and the Jags are no slouch defensive unit playing at home. Taylor's YPC may still not look pretty after this week, but I like his chances of putting one or two in the barn.

3. Deion Branch over Greg Jennings - I'm slumming it until Steve Smith can get his hamstrings back in his pants. Jennings had a rough outing and while I expect better numbers from him this week, I am worried about how much K-Rob will play this week. Robinson has never really played the slot position, so logic would indicate that once K-Rob gets the playbook down, he could be taking Jennings spots as WR2. I'm guessing Branch will play and I'll roll the dice on Holmgren finding a way to make Deion's first game as a Seahawk a memorable one. Should be a plenty of balls in the air from both sides.

4. Steve McNair over Byron Leftwich - I'm a little worried that the immobile Leftwich will get hammered frequently by an aggressive Pitt D. McNair gets to take a crack at Jokeland, and I figure his downside is pretty minimal.

So what are you stewing over this week?

Should I bother telling him D Branch isn't playing on Sunday?

I think he does play.
rotowolrd had an update that I didn't see last nightNFL Network's Adam Shefter reports Deion Branch is likely to play for the Seahawks this weekend.

He took a lot of snaps at practice Thursday. Don't use him in fantasy leagues yet, but this is bad news for Nate Burleson and Bobby Engram's value this week.

I still don't think that's a risk I'm willing to take though

1. Lee Evans over Roy Williams, Antonio Bryant - Miami's secondary is not New England. They looks lost at times vs. Pittsburgh, and surrendured 3 TDs to Charlie Batach. Additionally, Roy Williams is straight moron for his 'guarantee', and I wish I had realized what a bone-head he is before I drafted him. If some WRs on my bench develop, I will be looking to sell high on Williams, if he ever has a decent game.

Favre over McNair - Looking for a bounceback, plus worried Ravens might not throw a lot

Gore over Parker - This is making me a ittle nervous to do after one week, but going with the relative defensive matches

Moulds over Kennison - I've tradiltionally valued Kennison more than many, but Huard makes me nervous

Mason over Roy W - The guarantee and the Chicago D make me nervous, too

Gore/Edge/C. Taylor... who knows who im gonna start. Comes back to the "never bench your studs" theory but I think the matchups favour Gore and Chester too much.

same team...

D. Bennett/Ma. Jones... figure cos of how many targets D. Bennett had I will go with him. Jones has the size to be a factor in the red zone so who knows. Ill decide closer to game time.

They'll be tough decisions, I benched Gore last week and lost by 1 point, same goes for starting Jones over Bennett.

Edit: Even Eli to start over Brees I dont think I have as a lock, though doubtful I will bench Manning for Brees though.

I am playing Gore over Parker this week.

I'm starting Frank Gore and Reggie Bush over Chester Taylor and Willis McGahee.

Because I'm crazy enough to think that those two will score the most. The Rams rush D has been and still is terrible, so Gore is the easy call. Right now, I'm thinking Bush will break a long score on Green Bay (who doesn't have a very fast D). Honestly, I like the matchups for all 4 this weekend. If the weather is bad in Lambeau Sunday, I'll swap out Bush for McGahee probably.

Maybe I'm starting Bush and Gore because I want to play with my new toys?

Sitting the Oakland boys

D Jax over R Moss - I have Hass maybe I get a jookup TD - Balt D will crush Brooks again

R Bush over Lamont Jordan - I think Bush breaks a long TD this week - Lamont didn't inspire confidence

Williamson in the flex over...

Thomas Jones - tough match-up against suddenly a very stout Detroit run defense and he's sharing carries

Kevan Barlow - still sharing carries although maybe carving out a larger role in the offense (TBD)

Michael Turner - I  Turner, but I need one more week of production to confirm Marty's plan for him

Matt Jones - Tough, tough MNF game against the Steel Curtain

I am starting Harrison, Bryant and Drew Carter .

Benching Randy Moss , Coles.

I was actually benching Moss for Coles but i like to live dangerously and wanna try Carter vs St Louis ( Of course if Smith is out ) over Coles.

That's all fine and dandy except Carolina's playing Minnesota this week.

ronnie brown and willis mcgahee over portis, a. green, and r. bush.

R. williams over s. smith and j. walker

M. Bulger over E. Manning

curious if any of you guys that are starting Gore has an issue with Larry Allen and Jonas Jennings being injured?
A little bit. However, Allen was out the majority of the Arizona game. Jennings being out actually concerns me more, but even when he was out they ran the ball well.Something that appears to have been over-looked about the strong Rams defensive showing is that they yield a lot of yardage to the RBs. The 49ers offense will continue to funnel through Gore, so, ultimately, no I'm not worried enough to let it stop me from playing him.

Uh did you watch the game? The only reason he got what he did (including the TD) was that the game was put away. LT was on the bench with a hat the last 10 minutes of the game. In a close game, LT is in there until the end. Marty's plan for Turner is when LT is tired he gets a rest for 3-4 plays...thats it.Now this week against Ten, we may have a repeat of last week and Turner could be gold in the 4th quarter. but for you to make it sound like Marty plans on giving Turner 10+ carries every week. get the heck out of here.Anyone who starts Turner while LT is healthy is either stupid or has some serious problems in the RB department.

Oh man....you really have me thinking on the Parker/Taylor combo, which I also have.

Bryant over Colston at WR3 position. Not a big deal compared to the others I have read in this thread. But GB could flop again or do a crazy 360 and actually show up. Plus was Colston playing a fluke game or will he put up those numbers consistently? Hard to gauge this situation; but based on other threads I think Bryant might be the better bet.

I'm starting Gore over S. Jax as my RB2 this week.

I see Gore as having a better opportunity to score this weekend against the Rams rushing defense and putting up more fantasy points than S. Jax will after how they looked last week against Denver. Choosing between these two was tough but I'm going with my gut on this one.

Bush over Dunn @ RB2. (Did the same last week).

Colston over Houshy. Even if the signs point to Housh playing, I like Colston to have a breakout game vs. a highly suspect Pack secondary. I mean Rex Grossman was lighting them up.

I am wavering back and forth over who to start at RB2 - Kevin Jones (v CHI) or Rhodes (v HOU). Right now I am going with Rhodes just hoping for a goal line td.

At DB, all 4 of my dbs are projected at 5 points on the latest FBG projections so I will flip coins to determine which two start between Boulware, Sanders, Kiel and Shaun Williams. I will probably go with Sanders and Williams.

Chester Taylor over Reggie Bush is my close call of the week. I think when it is a close call, as I think this is, I'll go with the guy that will get more touches and is playing at home.

I'm going with C.Taylor over C.Dillon.

I think that what we saw from Talyor is the beginning of something good. Minnesota is going to feed him the ball and let him run on the left side of that big O line. I'm hoping for 100 yards and 1 touchdown

OK, lets be excellent to one another. "Stupid" is not a word we like to use here referring to another poster. There is another thread on this topic, which was a page one deal this morning:

Anybody else considering MT for Flex

You can also reference the Bandwagon thread in my sig for more discussion including articles quoting players and coaching staff on MT's role.

Joe, whatever you decide to do, I'll totally respect. However, this thread is really supposed to be about 'the wisdom of crowds' and not the 'questions of crowds'. Granted, if enough posters can't grasp the difference between a 'who do I start?' vs. 'this is who I am starting', then it should be slaughtered, killed, moved, whatever. But that would be disappointing because there is comfort in numbers, and it's nice to see what other tough choices people are 'making'.

Starting A Bryant over Glenn (I think) in a PPR league.

Starting McCardell over Engram and Jennings (I think) in a non PPR league

#3 WRs are giving me a headache. Please come back soon Steve Smith!!!!

Isn't this a WAIGS (Who Am I Going to Start). I think you've invented a new category. :lmao:

Agree. It is also good to see if you missed anything, like the question posed to us Gore starters about line injuries I wasn't aware of. And most went beyond listing players and gave rationale, which was good reading.

Joe, I agree with you -- in theory. In theory, communism works. In theory. (Sorry, any excuse to quote :homer: )I think this was not intended to be a true advice seeking thread. This being more of a generic verson of the "Bench Lamont for... " thread or the "Anyone else benching Caddy" thread. My view of the thread is more along the line of "This is who I'm sitting, no advice needed". But then again, this is just my POV.

Some of you will have this issue every week until you make a trade.

In a PPR league, I'm starting Stallworth over Reggie Brown. When I drafted Stallworth, I never anticipated having both starting Eagles WRs. Nor do I feel tempted to trade either right now. Despite Stallworth benefitting from some blown coverages, he did make some good catches, and I'm cautiously stoked about his instant rapor with McNabb. It's only human nature that McNabb not only wants to play the best that he can, but also to show the world that the passing game can thrive without TO. Stallworth has the most experience in this type of offense, so until Brown significantly outproduces Stallworth, Stallworth will get the nod from me.
