I'm starting Bernard Scott over.... (1 Viewer)

starting him over Percy Harvin at flex (everyone on a bye lol)

I have to play him this week, I'm expecting #2 RB numbers.

anyone else?

So am I. As my RB #1 :P and my RB#2 is Ingram! :(

Such is the wacky world of fantasy football when you could get hit with multiple injuries and bye week issues inside of a week's time.

Ahh glad you opened this thread.

I've been a big Scott believer but I have a bad vibe about this situation. I always viewed Scott as a threat receiving the ball, but I believe Leonard is being used more in passing situations. I'm concerned that Scott's "workhorse week" won't be as big as we think. To me, this is starting to look like he'll see most of the the limited amount of Bengals runs against a good Seattle run D...then get pulled in goallines and passing situations.

I heard some rumblings about Peerman, which was worrisome as well. I believe in Scott's ability, but it doesn't seem like the Bengals do. I wouldn't be surprised if Leonard had the bigger game simply due to the Bengals having to pass more against Seattle. Thoughts from anyone who's watched a few Bengals games?

Contemplating on starting him over Daniel Thomas and Jackie Battle as my FLEX...
it shouldnt be really close. hes like a top 15 starter this week.
Against Seatlle at home - I gotta see it to believe it.
Agreed, maybe with garbage time, but Cincinnati could very well pass all over Seattle's banged up secondary. I assume AJ Green and Jerome Simpson may have bigger days than Scott. Too bad Benson wasn't suspended when he was originally supposed to be.

Think I'm gonna start him. My other options are D. Thomas and Beanie. @ Seattle is not the greatest match-up but neither are NYG and BAL. And Reggie is getting way too many carries for Thomas to be really interesting. Leonard will take some carries away from Scott too, but I still think Scott could get 20+ carries and maybe 30 if The Bengals takes a commanding lead

need to pick between Scott, Lynch and Delone Carter for my flex. Waiting to see how Lynch is doing but have not decided yet one way or another. I like Carter's matchup the best and think he will get carries. But having held on to Scott, it is of course tempting to play him now.

Over Ingram & Morris, at least for now. I have a bad feeling facing Seattle at home. Expecting low end RB2 production.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Been trying all week to trade for a RB but can't get anything done. Ingram most likely will be out so I'm looking at starting Scott & Ridley - yuck -

I know how you feel. I have 6 RB's, 2 are on bye (one of them is injured DMC) one suspended (Benson), Ingram is hurt. Now I have to roll with Scott and LaRod Stephens Howling :X No one will trade a scrap heap RB, and the waiver wire is bare. :bag:I know, nice story bro.

This is my thinking as a Bengals fan. It's going to be much more of a committee than most here seem to think. Leonard has been the 3rd down, pass catching back all season. He's also the 2-minute offense back and gets a lot of time in the short yardage packages as well. If anyone is really hurting at RB in a PPR league, I personally like Leonard just as much as Scott but don't really love either of them as I think they both end up getting 8-10 points. The question is, do you go with the receptions and goal line TD upside of Leonard or the chance of breaking a long run upside of Scott?

Well good luck to both of us with our RB's....

To add a bit to the previous post, Leonard has 12 targets to far this year and is averaging nearly 12 yards per catch. Bernard Scott has 5 targets and is averaging less than 3 yards per catch. These numbers along with Leonard's awesome pass blocking are why he's the guy likely to get all of the 3rd down reps.

Leonard has also been much more effective running the ball than Scott. He's got a 7.1 ypc (9 for 64) vs. Scott's 2.8 ypc (30 for 85).

In short, my homer opinion is that this is a committee that should be avoided unless you're desperate....

I have a stable of dinged up guys, including Jahvid Best, who I am hoping will recover by next week. Charles was my keeper so he's out. So, I am rolling with the questionable tandem of Scott and Battle this week, and praying hard! I could play Hardesty or Lynch, but as soon as I put him in, he'll get 8 touches or something. Going with Scott and Battle only on the theory that more touches are better, but we'll see. Yes, I have great WRs but poo poo RBs.

Thanks for your homer take. I am truly desparate. I need to know if it makes any sense to pick up Leonard and tandem with Scott this weekend? I'd settle for a 5 point week at this point in PPR. TIA.

reports indicate otherwise
Leonard figures his role isn’t going to change Sunday. He’ll be the third-down back and he’ll be in there for the two-minute drill at the end of the half and game, as well as for the occasional second-down pass. But everyone figures Scott is going to be the feature back.“He’s a guy that needs a couple of plays to get adjusted, warmed up a little bit, and then he makes big plays,” Leonard said. “It’s tough to do to just go in there for a couple of plays and then you’re out. Now he has a start and I know he’ll do a job.”

I'm not sure that this is at odds with what I've posted, is it?I expect Scott to get most of the 1st and 2nd down rushing attempts but Leonard to get pretty much all the 3rd down, 2 minute drill and short yardage (and as this indicated some 2nd down). In PPR, that's pretty much a committee, but maybe its just a semantics thing. To the poster who asked about Leonard getting 5 points, I think he's a relatively safe option if you're desperate and the waiver wire is bare. I would bet he gets at least 4 receptions and I suspect he'll get some red zone touches/targets also. Leonard has been the guy in the game over Benson/Scott on important 4th and 2 type situations. The coaches trust him and he's made plays in clutch situations all year.

i dont see leonard getting more than 5 carries. he hasnt had more than 2 catches in any game. bengals rbs as a group have not had over 5 catches in any week.

they run the ball a lot, and i think bernard gets a lot of carries. as a team they are averaging 26 rb carries a game. this number is elevated in games they have won. they are 1.5 pt favorites this game. scott is a great bet to get 20+ carries.

I personally expect he'll get more than 2 catches this game, but we'll see. FWIW, I've had a pretty good record posting here with regard to the Bengals (pre-season predicted 1000 yards, 9 TDs from AJ Green, 20 passing TDs from Dalton and no fantasy value from Shipley and Scott). In this case, I just don't think its as simple as "give all of Benson's carries to Scott." He may get most of them, but some of them will go to Leonard and also the Bengals offense won't be exactly the same. They will run more shotgun sets with Leonard, even if he doesn't end up getting rushing attempts out of those sets.I think there has been a general misconception about Bernard Scott (and I made this point many times in the pre-season when many were hyping him) that because he is short and fast, he's a Darren Sproles type. I even saw him compared to Jamaal Charles by Lammey and Bloom, but the Bengals view him and use him more like Thomas Jones. The Bengals just don't trust him in passing situations. So even if you are right about 20 carries, he's averaging less than 3 ypc.... If he doesn't get the goal line touches and doesn't do anything in the passing game, where do those 20 carries leave you in PPR? (with 7 or 8 points unless he busts a long one)Note: I'm swimming in these same waters in one PPR league, so I don't want to come off as totally pooping on Scott. I need to pick 1 (and maybe even 2) from the group of Mo Morris, Ryan Torain and Bernard Scott and it'll be tough to decide. I'm not trying to be a downer, just to add my 2 cents on the team I've followed super closely my whole life.

FYI Seattle leads the league in allowing the fewest yards per carry and haven't allowed a 100 yard rusher this year. Proceed with caution imo.
I think most people starting Scott don't have other decent options & are aware of the Seattle rush defense.

well lets hear it. how many rb carries and whats the distribution?
Scott: 18 carries, 65 yards, 1 catch, 4 yards (0.3 TDs)Leonard: 6 carries, 25 yards, 5 catches, 30 yards (0.5 TDs)Peerman: 4 carries, 12 yards
well, we arent far off, but id put that as a bit of a floor. fwiw, seattle is averaging 28 rushes against per game. i think scott has a lot of upside and nice floor.

...Jamal Charles, Beanie, Ingram, McGahee, Hightower.

Moral of the story...you don't want to be a RB on my roster in this one league.
