I'm starting Johnny Manziel over ___________ (1 Viewer)

If I didn't have Romo, I'd definitely be tempted to play him over Cutler. From what I saw of the time Manziel played (of course only highlights though so I didn't see the bad except his fumbled snap) I actually though he looked good. Play action with him is pretty nasty and his passes looked crisp. Now, a full game I don't know, but he looked good for part of it.

Thinking of starting him over Cam, first round of the playoffs and I'm the underdog so I don't have much to lose.

Don't forget the rushing. JF ran for 1400 yards and 21 TDs in 2012, and 759 yards and 9 TDs last year. Bump down both West and Crowell because JF would eat into their carries and rushing TDs.

Cutler? Maybe.
I don't know man i'm thinking the same thing but it's tough to pull the trigger in the playoffs with a wildcard like Manziel....Cutler is so hard to figure out tho he plays solid against a good Detroit d and will play poorly against a team like Tampa Bay.

I'm in the exact same situation. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna start Manziel if he is announced the starter. Having started Cam all season really wears you down. One can only be that patient

I don't agree with that. If anything, Manziel should help the efficiency of Crowell and the other RBs since defenses have to account for Manziel's ability to run.

I'm leaning towards starting Manziel over Cam (Saints) and Alex Smith (Cardinals). Theoretically Cam should have a good matchup versus the Saints, but when he played them a few weeks ago he only threw for 151 yards. Cam is very difficult to trust at this point and there has been a pattern of rookie RBs doing well in their first games this season before defenses have NFL game film on them.

Looks like I am going to have to start being the voice of reason in this thread for those who are buying the hype of starting a rookie QB who has never started a game in the first week of their playoffs.

While all ESPN has been showing is his cool little broken play for a TD with some of Buffalos backups playing a few snaps, remember on his second drive he ended up fumbling a would be TD then laying on the ground with his arms crossed over his chest as if he was dead. Granted the refs got it wrong AGAIN and reversed the play, but he has so many flaws that starting him would be playoff suicide.

Brees!

But it's in a consolation bracket so it doesn't really matter. Highest points overall per week gets $$ so taking a gamble on players that could put up a lot of points is all that really matters from here on out. I doubt Johnny does a great job passing, but with Gordon who knows. My big expectation is that since Indy is so awful against the run there will be many times where he tucks it and takes off, possibly for some TDs.

I dropped Flacco for Manziel as my backup to Matt Ryan. I am honestly tempted to go Manziel but I don't know if that I am that much of a riverboat gambler in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Oh, it's a risky play for sure. I definitely wouldn't start him over Matt Ryan (at Packers) or someone like that. That is crazy to me. ATL at GBP has the highest over/under this week. Starting him over Brees (vs CAR) is also crazy to me. But IND at CLE has the fourth highest o/u this week, Vontae Davis seems to have to sit out which drastically weakens their secondary and ability to keep Josh Gordon in check, and the game could end up being an explosive matchup with CLE in catch-up mode. Putting someone like Kaep (at OAK) or Cam (at NOS) out there in the playoffs, with the way they've performed lately, is an equally risky play with less upside considering that we have a lot of data to support that they will not go off in any major way. And with the matchups this week I'd probably start Manziel over Dalton, Eli, Mett, McCown, Bortles, Fitzpatrick, Geno, Bridgewater, Smith, Stanton, Carr and Sanchez. Cutler and Orton have pretty good matchups so I'd probably play them over Manziel. Orton is a little bit of a question mark. Best case he'll be in catch-up mode and able to move the ball. Worst case he'll be shut down like they were able to do with Alex Smith. One would think that DEN attacks BUF with the pass, which would be good for Orton, but the DEN offense has been less predictable lately.

I have Tannehill, but I will prob start Tannehill.

Fantasy playoffs, I can't afford a gamble. Tannehill has been pretty solid, QB11 in my league for avg.

Manziel is very tempting to play though... I just don't know if I can do it. If he plays well this week, then I'm probably going to play him the rest of the season, here's hoping I can limp by this week!

Got him on my bench in a start 2QB league, rolling with Ryan/Cutler in the 1st round of the playoffs.

I do have Gordon and Jeffery at WR... I could have two QB/WR stacks with a Cutler/Manziel start.

Tough to sit Ryan against the Packers, you know he'll be forced to pass in that game.

If the goal Is to get the highest points, why wouldn't you be starting Brees?

I guess i'll be holding off on Money season for at least another week.

Odds we see Manziel as the starter in week 15?

Pettine give the people what they want!! Its inevitable.

Finally someone with some sense.
Is Tannehill's floor any lower than Manziels?
No, it's much higher IMO.

A proven comodity in tannehill vs an unknown in Manziel. Manziel could throw 3 INTs and be benched at halftime. I've been burned by RGIII two times this year on that same premise: "well RGIII has a high ceiling." Not happening. Tannehil has been relatively consistent.

If Manziel shows more than a broken play TD, and an ability to read defenses, then ok I will start him next week.

I'm a huge Manziel hater, but i admit he has definite potential. If it were the regular season I would probably start him, but I am the 4 seed going against the 3, so I can't afford to gamble.

doesnt matter who plays they are probably losing this week anyway, might as well say o well hoyer lost again so now we need to get rid of him as starter next week

shark move by pettine
