IMPORTANT: PDSL Rule/Clock Modification (1 Viewer)

As most are aware, the NFL will release the 2009 schedule on April 14th at 7PM. In order to prevent any fairness/competitive balance issues in advance, all drafts will be stopped per the schedule below.

PDSL1 after pick 19.16

PDSL2 after pick 16.16

PDSL3 after pick 17.16

PDSL4 after pick 17.16

What this means is that when your league makes the pick above, the draft will stop until Wedensday 8am when all the clocks will be turned back on. The person who is up is free to make their pick at any time before then. I'll be revisiting the progress of each draft through tomorrow and adjust the stop pick above by a full round earlier if needed. At the other extreme, I'll also be adjusting everyone's clock down on Tuesday to get us to the stop pick by 6PM. For example, if there are ten picks remaining in the round Tuesday morning, everyone will be on a one hour clock.

I order to prevent any shenanigans, if you don't make your pick, I will pick for you. For example, pick 19.16 in league one can't just not make a pick or intentionally timeout and then make up the pick. In other words, be prepared on Tuesday to pick or send a list to someone to pick for you.

My apologies for any inconviences in advance. These leagues are competitive and boots are oftened decided by a few points or tiebreakers so everyone should get the same opportunity to adjust for bye week damage.

Exclusive announcement of 2009 schedule on NFL.com, NFL Network

National Football League

NFL.com unveils team-by-team and week-by-week schedules and live chats

NFL Network features analysis, interviews with coaches, fan reactions and more

Which team will be the Cowboys' first regular-season opponent in their new stadium? Who will Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, Donovan McNabb and Kurt Warner take on in their season openers with the Colts, Vikings, Eagles and Cardinals, respectively? How does the road look for the defending champion Pittsburgh Steelers as they try to return to the Super Bowl?

These questions and many more will be answered when the 2009 NFL schedule is released in prime time for the first time, exclusively on NFL.com and NFL Network, on Tuesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. ET. The entire 2009 schedule will be announced and analyzed on NFL.com and NFL Network during a two-hour primetime NFL Total Access: 2009 Schedule Release Presented by GMC Sierra.

Just as the NFL Draft and NFL Scouting Combine have grown into highly popular off-season events, the NFL Total Access: 2009 Schedule Release Presented by GMC Sierra is another opportunity for fans to connect with the NFL and to see for the first time where, when, and what time their favorite teams will play next season, as well as to analyze and debate the schedule.

For fans who want to see their team's entire schedule right away to plan their football season, NFL.com is the place to visit on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET. NFL.com will be the first site to have the complete team-by-team and weekly schedules of all 256 regular-season games, listing opponents, sites and times. NFL.com will feature interactive components by giving fans a voice through chats, fan forums and poll questions.

Other features on the website will include analysis by NFL.com reporters and breakdowns of the division schedules. NFL.com will include which games will be on CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC and NFL Network. There will also be printer-friendly versions of the team-by-team and week-by-week schedules.

NFL Network's NFL Total Access: 2009 Schedule Release will feature host Rich Eisen and in-studio analysts, Steve Mariucci, Marshall Faulk, Brian Billick, Jamie Dukes, Solomon Wilcots, and former Bucs general manager Bruce Allen, plus other special guests including former Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson.

Reporters will be spread across the country to get reaction. NFL Network reporters will be in Boston to get fan reaction on the Patriots' schedule as Tom Brady returns from his injury, in Philadelphia for the announcement of the first regular season opponent McNabb will face without defensive leader Brian Dawkins, in Chicago for comments on Jay Cutler's debut as he changes conferences, and in Denver to talk about the new season under Josh McDaniels.

The special includes a look at the making of the schedule, plus interviews with head coaches and GMs on how it affects their planning and preparation. Players also will also be interviewed and the top games will be debated.

Additional topics covered during the primetime special will include a look at the Steelers' road back to the Super Bowl, which team will take on the Cowboys in their new stadium for the first time, who is playing in primetime and why, plus the most intriguing matchups of 2009.

NFL Network airs seven days a week, 24 hours a day on a year-round basis and is the only television network fully dedicated to the NFL and the sport of football. For more information, log onto www.nfl.com/nflnetwork. NFL.com is the exclusive internet home for NFL video highlights and NFL Network.
If anyone sees/hears of this being released earlier, please let me know.

I think if I get a rule made because of something I've done,

it will be that I'm undraftable because it skews the PDSLs.

A true penalty for not getting drafted in a PDSL.

well thought out rule, doesn't really matter in PDSL 1 though. We're not doing much with each of us having one pick in the 20th. The 305th, 308th, 312th player taken are very likely not swaying this draft and if they do I doubt it has anything to do with the schedule. With that in mind, can PDSL1 just finish up here Bass? skip this stuff?

BSS will be free to pick at anytime as are those picking after him. So yeah, it's possible to skip this stuff if you all agree and make your picks. I didn't want you guys caught in the middle. It's possible that someone catches 3 of their 4 RBs with the same bye and wants to add someone to post a score.

The only problem I would have,

if somebody wanted all their clock,

to wait for the schedule to come out,

is if they didn't post that is what they are doing.

You have done a great job with the leagues.

Here is :goodposting: you will get from time to time.

There was seriously annoying whining about this last year. Bass is being proactive to stop the whining, so a huge :goodposting: from me.

I didn't catch the whining, but can imagine...This is a fair plan to at least shut that down. :goodposting:

I'm with BSS & Bri as far as PDSL1 though--on our normal weekday pace we would wrap this up about 7:00 pm tonight.

I appreciate the intent of this and give props to BNB for trying to resolve past issues. But what's really the net effect? He states that everyone should get the same opportunity to adjust for bye week damage. But this doesn't happen. Instead of someone manipulating their clock to gain an advantage, BNB "arbitrariliy" decides who gets the first advantage. Someone is going to get an advantage and I can guarantee it's not the people 16 picks away from the cutoff.

I understand trying to keep the draft moving and not having people time out and then make their pick after the schedule is released. So if they time out, make the pick for them. If peope feel that someone is trying to manipulate things, ban them from the leagues in the future.

Sure, someone may get some help from knowing the schedule when they're OTC. But to me, it's no different than someone getting traded, cut, re-signed, etc while they're OTC the other times of the draft. It's just one of those quirks to drafting before all factors are known.

Maybe I'm missing something? :)
