In a dynasty league, who would you rather have? (1 Viewer)

Me and a friend of mine were having a friendly debate over who the more valuable WR was in dynasty format. A trade was offered involving the two. He seemed to value Jennings over Williams and vice versa for me.

So I was curious and wanted to see what the masses thought.

**eta - I thought I created this as a poll, but not sure what happened.

I'd rather have Jennings, and by a good bit. Williams, though, still makes a good strong starting WR.

Pretty darn even...I'd lean Williams but could completely see how others would rather have Jennings.

I'm in love with Williams lol
This is the vibe I've been getting from most lately. That's why it kinda threw me for a loop when he said he'd rather have Jennings. Jennings has Finley, Driver, Nelson, Jones, Cobb, and the RB to contend with and fight for passes. Kinda like New Orleans and how they spread the wealth.

Jennings, in a landslide, for me.
:goodposting: this. the over rating of williams is going crazy. jennings is the #1 wr on a prolific offense with a great qb. he has been one of the steadier producers for the last 4-5 years. I've seen too many 1 hit wonders at WR.

Hmm, a bloke who had an alright rookie season whilst against legitimate WR competition in Driver whilst his QB threw for only 18 TDs/18 INT, 56% completion rate @ 6.3 ypa, who has then gone on to virtually have 4 1000 yard years in row, also catching 9 or more TDs in 3 of those four seasons

vs

A rookie who had a very good rookie year, albeit no real competing healthy WR taking numbers from him.

Williams is good, but aren't people overrating him a bit here? The upside IMO is pretty much what Jennings HAS done. Even if Jennings NFL talent doesn't always translate to fantasy results, he's ridiculously consistent and will continue to be a consistent WR1. Unless you think Williams is a transcendant talent or the Freeman to WIlliams hookup will continue to be the only consistency in the Tampa passing game with no other competition, becoming another Peyton-Wayne combo, then I don't see why you would compare the two as of yet.

I might have said that I would take Williams' VALUE over Jennings' (ie where I would grab them in what rounds) a while ago, but considering how much love there seems to be for Williams around here, and general lack of love for Jennings, I would prefer taking Jennings when I could get him.

Jennings by a descent margin for me.

In most start up drafts lately Jennings is going around mid 2nd as where Mike Williams is going around mid 3rd. Just to throw that out there.

As for my preference. Jennings is proven and has the best QB in the league throwing him the ball! Freeman is good, but hes no Aaron Rodgers! I hear a lot of people saying Finley will take away looks etc?? But I see it as the opposite. Safetys (etc) will have to cheat up to cover Finley over the middle and jennings will be burning Defenses all day long! I see better #s from jennings going forward (and he was ALREADY a top 10 talent). Adding Cobb is just saying that the Pack is leaning that much more now towards letting JJ walk away (and even seeing Driver retire).

As for MW. I like this kid a lot! But one year in the league and hes Gregg Damn Jennings? No way Jose. :)

Plus add the fact that Benn will be back at some point. Winslow. Blount is a pounder.

I'd rather have Jennings by a good margin.

I think the real loser in the Jennings-Finley combo is Driver - In the first four games of the year, Driver was given the intermediate routes, Jennings was pretty much told to run long (Which doubled with a ####ty oline greatly diminished his potential fantasy output) and Finley was given most of the short stuff. This is despite the fact that Driver was generally very ineffective nearly all of last year.

Finley gets injured, pretty much forcing McCarthy to change Jennings routes/Not to mention Jennings actually complained about his role in the team - Lo and behold he shows what 90% of us already knew, that he is a very talented WR. Driver and jennings started alternating short and intermediate routes and we saw what happened with Jennings numbers.

People might bet on Jennings returning to early '10 numbers, but seeing again what we have seen for 3 and a half years now, I doubt McCarthy diminishes his role again like he had, but even if he does a small amount, the oline has improved to the level where he will likely become effective in that role again. Jones/Nelson/Driver will lose most of the numbers that Finley will be getting. I can't see Jones or Nelson getting fed the ball too much given how inconsistent both of them are.

Yes? :excited:

I'm a big fan of both players, but Jennings gets the nod. If they were RBs, maybe I'd be looking at Williams since he's 5 years younger, but WRs produce for a long time. I consider Jennings a top 6-8ish dynasty receiver, and Williams closer to #15 at this point.

Remember how Mike Clayton had a great rookie year with the Bucs, was highly valued the following year and he never performed that well in any season since?

While I am not saying that situation will repeat itself.. it could. There are many WR in the league who have one or 2 good years and the rest is meh. Jennings is not one of them. In any case smart money is always on the WR who has at least shown they can do well over multiple seasons. You cannot say that about Mike Williams yet so I do not see how these 2 players are comparable.

I'd take Jennings only because he could command more in a trade. I would not actually want Jennings on my roster. I would definitely like to have Williams on my roster however.
