In this thread I rank my favorite Beatles songs: 204-1. (5 Viewers)

I have Spotify links to each song in the original post, and I have a Spotify playlist of my own with all of these in order but actually have no idea how to post such.  Maybe in conjunction with the 2020 re-rankings...  ;)
@krista4:

If you have Spotify open on desktop, next to the play button in the playlist is the …/more button.  click on that ----> share ---->  copy playlist link.   Then just hyperlink that in a post.

Thanks!  I only have it on my phone, but I’ll see if I can figure it out, or install on my laptop.

While we all wait, breathless with anticipation with loins a-tingling, for Krista's 2020 rankings, let me remind you of something I was reminded of this morning:

The Beatles are an enjoyable band to which to listen.

OK, I didn't want to say anything until I had time actually to do this, but I am going to post 2020 rankings.  Quick and easy with just a little commentary, not even on each song.  But more "importantly," I have a Part B for 2020 as well.  Part B is going to take me a while, but I think it will spark some good discussion and fun times for all us Beatles people again.

By the way, belated Happy Birthday to George!!

The question of the week on the Beatles Channel this week is what is your favorite vocal moment from any Beatles song.  I'm thinking over what it would be for me.  I'd love to hear what it would be for you guys.

hands down it's Paul inventing a vocal genre (heavy metal) in Helter Skelter.

What are some of the ones that people have named?  (I’m traveling and don’t have my Beatles channel.) One “moment” might be impossible for me to select.

I haven't heard any of the responses on the air yet.  Selecting a moment is like trying to narrow it down to 25 favorite songs.

my top 5 ...

1) Paul's Helter Skelter

2) John's Twist n' Shout

3) Paul's Kansas City

4) John's Rain

5) John's Julia

... Helter Skelter by far and away my favorite.

John’s Twist and Shout was my first thought.  But narrowing down to a moment...?

- Day in the Life crescendo

- ooo in She Loves You

- Hard Day's Night opening chord

- and in the end

- the end drum solo too

- helter skelter yeahyeahyeah

ahhhhh, ok - gimme these two ....

the champ - (from where i started it to the 3:17 mark) there's never been anything as apocalyptic sounding ever laid down ... like the cries and anguish of all mankind's history were encapsulated in John's gorgeous wailing.

top contender - (again, from where i started to the 2:00 mark) John kicks it off, but i love how we get all 3 lads up in here for this one ... this is my deep cut top 10ish that i feel is ridiculously overlooked- the vocal chops are the teats.

when we talkin' moments, these are moments ...

Helter Shelter vs. Twist and Shout.......

can you pretty please say take that to the bank brohans on air that would pretty much make my life take that to the bank brohans

Hi friends!  I have yet to put together my 2020 rankings but have had them in mind.  I won't be going into any detail this time, of course, but just a refresh with a little commentary here and there.  I'll try to get them in the next couple of weeks.

I have to do that before I get to Part II of the 2020 events, as my rankings will have an effect on what happens in Part II.   I had an idea tonight for a good format for Part II.  While it won't be a full ranking of the post-Beatles output of the lads, I will say that, in preparation, I've been listening to some really awful Paul McCartney 80s music so you don't have to.

I'm a technological idiot, so I hope I did this correctly.  If the link doesn't work or you can't see it, let me know.  (I wasn't sure whether to make it unlisted or private.)

This year, for her school's annual Spring showcase, my daughter went with a classic Bob Dylan tune.  Naturally, once school was closed down, the concert never happened, and there is a real chance it never will, which is a pity for all the kids who had tried out and had been working on their stuff.  We were at the house of her piano/voice teacher the other night, so we made her perform for us, and my wife responsibly filmed from more than 6 feet away.  Since I've shared her previous songs with y'all, I thought this might be welcome.

I've been doing some 2020 re-rankings, and I need to apologize to you:  my 2019 rankings from ~100 to ~180 were all wrong.  Why didn't someone tell me?!?!
Like Dorothy and the ruby slippers ...you had to learn it for yourself.

Say, with Yesterday now out on cable, I wanted to circle back and ask about your feelings with the beach house scene near the end.  I found that so bittersweet ...a mixture of happiness to see and 'imagine' what it would be like to see him as a calm, wise old man like that, but sad to know we never had that opportunity.  How did you react?

You described it perfectly.  I had just the same reaction, maybe leaning more toward the sad end of it, though.

well, I can't even pick my 25 Yr Old song or album, so your Beatles song list would have changed daily for me

I have no room to comment
