Tough break losing Edelman. Looks like the same injury that Dez had. 6-8 week recovery, which means he should be available for the playoffs. Hopefully they can get a first rd bye. Even then he could still be limited. I honestly don't see a repeat Super Bowl win happening without Edelman.

I think Amendola fills in and gets you close to Edleman's production. The critical thing to me is them getting healthy on the offensive line. They had some good success hitting on some deep throws yesterday and I would suspect teams will challenge them to do so in coming weeks. If they can give Brady better protection, this team will continue to be high scoring.

Edelman seems to have a lot more RAC ability than Amendola.
Yeah they aren't really clones the way people say.

Edelman is quicker, and he's probably a better receiver, but Amendola is a little more complete. No knock on Edelman, but he's a slot receiver, not a wide receiver. Amendola can play both.

Edelman's experience as a returner makes him really good at quickly deciding on that first move as a guy runs towards him so he can't make a clean hit. He does the exact same thing when he catches the ball. That's where he gets his yac after the catch on all those quick passes.

Amendola is a little better at running traditional routes. He can make quick plays, but nowhere near as well as Edelman. But Amendola probably gets more ybc. Edelman definitely gets more yac. It took both of them a few years to get in a groove with Brady, but Amendola has been making more and more big plays since the middle of last year and he was a huge part of that superbowl team. Remember it was Amendola who caught that huge pass from Edelman against the Ravens, and Amendola who caught the td in the superbowl to cut the lead to 3.

I expect Amendola to be a very good fool in. He's immediately an every week starter for fantasy. I don't know if he can continue Edelman's td pace, but he's a starting receiver on a very high scoring offense.

I no longer like our chances of winning th SB. :kicksrock:
Should be back for the playoffs.
Maybe in time for afc chsmpionship...the trick will be winning round 2 without both lewis and edelman.
Said to take 8 weeks to be able to play with the newer approach to surgery. With a bye, the Patriots first playoff game would be 9 weeks from yesterday. Edleman said to be having surgery today. Every injury and recovery is different, but Dez played in 7 weeks. Barring a set back, he should be a go for the entirety of the playoffs IMO.

Excellent. Ring #5 is a lock then.

Obviously others will disagree, but I do think against playoff competition that HFA is critical. Hopefully the Pats can stay neck and neck with the Bengals while they get healthy. Yesterday's Denver loss helps provide a buffer there should the Pats trip up two weeks from now in Denver.

I think the broncos are pretenders and the Bengals are legit. I thought they were legit last year too. Hoping the pressure gets to them again and the fall back into their undisciplined ways. Few injuries couldn't hurt either.

I think they need the bye but I'm not too concerned if they end up the #2 and Cincy is the #1. Denver looks to be a mess right now, not sure they are going to factor into the race for home field. I could see them losing again next week in Chicago.

Just read Solder's fourth month old son has kidney cancer.

Dude had testicular cancer last season.

Cancer sucks.

One thing not mentioned (that I could see) is how critical it is that Amendola stays healthy now.

He's good at it but I would definitely pull him from punt returns immediately.

Gotta also realize the Pats are at hopefully - the worst case for their OLine. They might get Cannon and Vollmer back this coming week which obviously would be huge.
Any update on these guys?

Any news on Collins' virus? I'm really hoping there's not lingering weakness as a result. He's a pretty key cog in our LB corps.

Getting those 3 back would make me feel a LITTLE better about the loss of IncrEdelman.

With the signing of Joseph Fauria to the practice squad I could see them bringing back the 4TE goal line offense. But I think it will take a week or two to get Fauria involved.

Finally some good news, Sebastian Vollmer, Tre Jackson and Marcus Cannon return to practice.

And some more bad news, Jamie Collins not at practice...

Can't remember where I heard it (radio? friend in the Boston area? other?) but rumor I heard was that he has shingles. Not sure if this has been discussed/disputed and certainly can't confirm...just passing along unsubstantiated rumors and isn't that what the internet is for? :) :) :)

Its not looking good that he makes it back this week. A lot of possible reasons he wasn't at practice, with it being a Monday game, but still its not looking good. This sucks.

I think the injury report comes out tomorrow. Sheard should be 100% this week, he didn't look it this past week, that should help a little. Maybe Trey Flowers and Genoe Grissom will get some snaps.

Maybe y'all have heard this, but it was new to me. Belichick, asked about the hoodie:

"It's comfortable," he said. "I carry stuff in my pouch."

What about chopping off the sleeves?

"I have short arms," he noted.

God, I hope Amendola rebounds quickly from the knee injury. "Next man up" only goes so far.

No slot receiver, no dual-threat RB to keep the D honest and pass protection that's going to get Brady killed against good front 7s (hello, Denver)...Pats are going to have to claw out some victories a la 2003.

People tweeting that Collins will at least dress today...

Edit: Don't know what to wish for re: DEN. They look like Houston North to me, and Pats have made that crew look foolish before. But I really just want for nobody to get hurt. This season is like when you're leading in a game and the clock won't move...

Every win is pyrrhic.

Collins playing on Sunday would help a lot if hes close to 100%, Mayo looked like his old self on Monday, seemed like any time there was a tackle he either made it or was within a few yards. Sheard being back has been huge and Ninkovich looks like he is picking up steam. Easley was a monster on Monday, he was exploding off the line like nothing I've ever seen, Malcom Brown looked good too. Id really like to see Trey Flowers get some opportunities with the Chandler Jones uncertainty ahead.

Butler has looked lights out against OBJ and Watkins, he might actually be the real deal.

Tough game ahead but BB and Brady have basically owned Kubiak and Phillips. I like the Houston North comparison. The only wildcard is Brock. Not much film available and while he looked good against the Bears, he's only starting his 2nd game against one of the best defenses in the league. I honestly don't see either team scoring more than 20pts or so.

Pats typically fair pretty well against inexperienced QBs and as good as this defense is atm I think it will compound. Pats offense has lost a step for now, but I think they will get a few extra possessions.

Pats D is going to have to win this, unless James White can pull a Shane Vereen SB49 performance. It wouldn't shock me if the Broncos put Talib on Gronk with help, leave Chris Harris Jr. on LaFell all by himself and single cover everybody else.

I expect Belichick to focus on taking away Denver's running game and dare Osweiler to beat them.

After watching Brady get harassed from the blind side Monday night, I would like to see Vollmer moved back to LT. Cannon was a wreck there vs. Buffalo.

Amendola is likely to be a GTD and 50/50 to play. Will have to see how he responds to treatment and how he fares heading closer to game time. This has the makings of a 17-14 game. Could turn into a field position or special teams kind of a game. NE may not put up big numbers on offense but should be able to get some points if they don't have to drive 80 yards all game. For all the talk of the Broncos defense, NE leads the league in fewest points allowed. I still would lean taking the team with the HOF coach and HOF QB over the one with the QB making his second start.

I don't think Amendola plays and it is scary to think we have reached the point where we will be counting on Martin (if he plays  ) and Harper. Fwiw, I like em both as spot players, but to have to count on both at the same time is a lot to ask.

As already mentioned, the Def has to step up big this week and if they do they this game is definitely winnable. This is going to be tuff, Den gets an upgrade at QB, they are playing at home with backs to the wall and NEs offense is a shell of its former self. Special teams and Def will be crucial this week.

Just read Pats have placed Dobson on IR.

I feel like I should feel something about it, but I'm almost happy knowing he won't be out there.
