Indefinite New York Jets Official thread - **2025 season** - The indefinite rebuild continues (9 Viewers)

Reddick hired Drew Rosenhaus.

“We look forward to working with the Jets to get this resolved as soon as possible,” Rosenhaus said. “Haason would like to be a New York Jet for years to come and our goal is to make that happen.”

LOLZ. You'll take your 1 year 15 million dollar deal (pro-rated) and like it. Prove yourself and MAYBE we can talk in February.
Finally got a real agent in there who is trying like heck to do damage control. Good luck Drew - either take the 1 yr or he can continue to sit. His absence has not created a bit of concern.

I would love to know that first conversation between Rosenhaus and Reddick:

Rosenhaus: Ok, tell me what your contract demand is?

Reddick: My previous agent said I could get $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Rosenhaus: Yeah....well....you aren't getting that.

Any good FA QBs out there for next year?

Team is fading fast and Rodgers just looks disinterested out there - can hardly blame him after getting crushed left and right. Looking ahead, not sure they'll be bad enough to draft that high and not sure there's anyone out there anyway to try starting over with. Purgatory thy name is.

An unwatchable game, the penalties being called on both sides have made this an unwatchable and unenjoyable sport.
really need to pull my energy back after this one, and on top of this atrocious display of reffing, without an ownership change it's groundhog day,
just doesn't matter.

Just a brutal loss.

Hackett and Saleh were a big part of a problem, but the issues that have killed this team still exist. A wild card spot isn't totally gone get but games against Pitt and Houston in the next 3 weeks will likely put the nail in the coffin.

2 missed FG's,(better bring some kickers in tomorrow) hall SOMEHOW doesn't score on that long run (he literally had 30 yards to see the guy coming and the entire field to cut back and gets run out at the 4. Ooooof) several drive killing drops....again. mike Williams falls down. Horrendous penalties in huge spots. Just an awful night.

Tyron Smith shockingly looks absolutely washed. Got Aaron killed 2 times, had the totally unnecessary hold that took the TD off the board, completely whiffed on that late block that could have busted hall out again. He looks finished. I honestly think they should try the kid at his natural LT spot because Smith is clearly done.

Obviously the refs made it about them last night (both ways, as Aaron pointed out in the presser. The roughing on him was a joke) but the Jets still allowed it to happen by doing dumb stuff and grabbing.

Last thing......I'd (cautiously, as he's a scary guy) send Michael Clemmons packing tomorrow. Everyone on the planet knew that Allen was keeping the ball on that last play and Clemmons completely bites on the eye candy fake, loses contain and allows him to ice the game with the first down. Dude has the football IQ of a zucchini.

Thank goodness it's almost basketball season

It's looking like an 8-9 / 7-10 type season this year. Rodgers is still better than what we've seen with Zach and the rest of the scrubs, but he's starting to show serious decline.

Of course in an era where kickers are hitting 60 yard FGs with no effort, our kicker misses a few "easy" ones.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for the wind last night, which wrecked havoc for Bass too. But yeah, the Leg is not helping matters at all this year when he and Moorstead were one of the few areas of strength last year.

Good I guess to get Adams, but unfortunately it's not fantasy football and not going to solve the many issues this team has.

I mean, they 100% beat Buffalo last night if they have Adams. Zero doubt in my mind about that. I think they absolutely 100% beat Denver earlier in the year as well. Vikings is a possibility.

If they'd had Adams all year, this is a 5-1 or 4-2 team. Yes, I'd agree it doesn't fix the biggest issue, but it certainly helps an issue.

The only thing creative about this team is how they find ways to lose.

I know it was windy, but come on. Those were 2 chip shot fgs he missed. I can't say much because I wanted him back badly because he was incredible last year, but he has looked shaky since the summer. Of course Siebert has looked fantastic for Washington.

Tyron Smith has looked terrible all season. Holy crap we got bamboozled. The penalties from the o-line were killers, especially on the Allen td.

Can we please jettison Ruckert into the sun? I have never seen a worse blocker. He is personally responsible for almost every tackle in the backfield. Can we please trade a functioning blocking TE. This guy isn't it. Neither is Conklin.

How did Breece Hall not cut to the right and try to blow by/juke that last defender? He looked like he even slowed down for him and it ended up costing us the game. Well, one of the many reasons.

A friend of mine kept blaming the receivers for passes that were not caught. I said, if you're going to blame everyone else, then maybe you should take a look at the QB.

Clemons is such a bum. Useless.

The run defense scheme in the first quarter must have been drawn up by some random guy on the street. How did they allow such running lanes? Josh Allen is a beast, but their receivers are barely better than the posters on this board. Puzzling defense and the need to take pass interference penalties? Sauce is like a matador with a runner coming at him. Might as well give him a red cape.

The refs were shameful in this game.

Not a Jets fan, but I love it. A-Rod pulled the trigger on the deal (a little sarcasm for those who think he runs the team, haha). The Jets could easily turn this season around and Adams will likely be one of the reasons why. Despite what the haters say, A-Rod can still sling it. The Jets feel like one of those teams who have a lot of headroom. Their record isn't indicative of their talent and the AFC East is very winnable.

Masterful of the raiders GM to wait until a NYJ receiver bombed the team on live prime time television. Got an extra round of value probably

Not sure what receiver that was, but anyway your deal may have happened that way somewhere in the multiverse, but not in ours. In that make-believe world, a trade was agreed upon overnight including conditions of the trade, and Davante Adams was flown to the Jets facility in a matter of minutes.

It was most likely done and they were waiting for the week to end since Adams wasn't available and that's another week of salary the Jets didn't have to pay.

It's is done. Adams to the Jets. For a 4th?!

Now saying a third that can become a second rounder
Honestly I am not excited about this team giving away draft picks that could be used to add a QB after Rodgers leaves. Jets are "all in" with at best a slightly above average team.
Agree 100%. If they're going to trade away picks, I'd rather it be at more of a position of need. Looks like it's definitely going to be a 3rd rounder based on the conditions to be a 2nd:

Adams must be a 1st or 2nd team AP All-Pro X
Must be on the active roster for the AFC Championship game or the Super Bowl X

Yeah, that's a third. If the do make the AFC Championship game (narrator: They won't) I can live with it.

Did you all hear Bill Belichick last night roasting the Jets on the Manning-cast?

"Barely won over 30% in the last 10 years, the owner being the owner, Ready-Fire-Aim!"
:lmao:

Have to disagree here. Again, it's not fantasy football - the presence of Adams does not overcome the lack of discipline and getting blown up in the trenches.
In general I agree, but I'm looking at specific games. Having another playmaker (especially one on Adams level) is enough to beat both Denver and Buffalo, which were games that were 50-50. That would make them 4-2 right there. Could argue it against the Vikings too, as they lost by 1 score, and Rodgers likely doesn't force that pick 6 if Adams is out there.

They've lost their last 3 games by 10 total points. If they win two of those they are 4-2. Adams doesn't fix all of their issues but he does make them better and that might have been just enough to flip those games. Now, if the question is whether or not getting Adams turns the whole season around and makes them a playoff team and contender like they believed they were then I agree that it likely doesn't because of the issues in the trenches on both sides of the ball and the avalanche of penalties every game.

In the span of 9 days the Jets have lost two one score games, fired their head coach, demoted their OC, traded for Devante Adams and let their holdout edge rusher seek a trade. The circus never rests.

Desperate teams do stupid things.

I can't wait for Garrett WIlson to demand a trade now that he'll be the third option in the passing game.

If that is the case then the Jets deserve to lose him for nothing. I am hoping for a 1A/1B scenario where it actually opens up the field for GW a bit more.

It's not the play-calling, I'm worried about. It's Aaron and "his guys". Lazard sees way too many targets for a slug of his talent.

Reddick hired Drew Rosenhaus.

A more likely scenario from Andrew Brandt:

@AndrewBrandt

No agent would tell a player to forfeit $800,000 a week in a sport with short careers and no guaranteed contracts.
Likely that CAA has told him to report; he has said no, and they have said "we can't help you anymore."

Right, but the possibility exists that Adams is going to help fix that problem and not compound it. I can dream anyway.

Adam is surely going to be the first look now. Hopefully it's Wilson and not Lazard that's next in line. I have doubts about that seeing how Rodgers even throws into quadruple coverage to get the ball to his boy.

Adams was Rodgers first read on 80% of plays there last season in Green Bay. He threw it to him in double and triple coverage. This is very much going to be the Rodgers and Adams show.

Stupid Jets will target Adams 150 times the rest of the way, and land him on the second team AP, while they miss the playoffs and now owe the Raiders a 2nd.

What an awful game. Saleh is gone but he left the undisciplined players behind him. So many penalties, drops and key gaffes. Zach Wilson beat a better Buffalo team at home last year...but the Defense has taken a massive step back. So why not trade for more O! It's officially a circus but at least interesting to watch

QB: Rodgers definitely in decline but still can manage a game and sling it - cant blame him too much as hes getting pasted back there

OL - again a mess - sold a lemon in Tyrone Smith who looks like a shell of himself - at some point they may have to swap him out with the 1st rder. Cant be any worse - at least hes young.

RB - Breece looked better but lost the game by cutting to the sidelines rather than back to the field. Not sure why he did that as I knew they wouldnt put it in from the one. Alphas find a way to get it in the EZ. Note that Allen used a lot less this game

WR - Reserves are coming and just in time - Lazard's lucky hail mary catch aside its just Wilson out there. I think Adams will give him a lot more run. Id buy low if someone panics

TE - bad game for both - Ruckert is a big fail as I thought hed at least be a big blocker

Defense - wha happened - from one of the best in the league last year to being abused. Davis looked like Jim Brown out there. JD really got too cute with the defense and Reddick wont help the run D much. New coach is a defensive specialist like Saleh so get it fixed quick

Coaching - playcalling was definitely better but looked like same old jets to me. 2-4 with season slipping away - gotta find a way to beat the Steelers now

As for the Adams deal - why not. Its more than likely a 3rd rder (o chance he makes all pro at this point so its only if they make AFCCG which id take in a second) - they have an extra 3rd rder this year so it works out.

From overthecap - Adams is owed no guaranteed money after this year so assuming Rodgers stays they would likely restructure for one more run. If not then they cut him with no penalties. In an all in year or 2 - why not but its officially a circus lol

What exactly does Reddick need to do to "prove" himself? He's had 50.5 sacks the last 4 years for 3 different teams.

He your cousin or something?

Paying 30 year olds at athleticism-centric positions generally isn't great business.

This is a likely non playoff team that might be blowing things up with a new coach and starting over at qb this winter. Giving this guy a 3 year top of the market now would be insanity.

just came out that one of the conditions of the Reddick trade with Philly was it goes up to a 2d if he is traded to the NFC - so there goes half his market. Either an AFC team steps up to deal for him or he can sit out the rest of the year and have his contract toll so he can do it again next year. Seriously doubt Drew lets him do that - he'll report then get "injured"

Also agree with TLEF - hes a 30 yr old pass rusher who hasnt played at all in close to a year - more if he sits out the entire year....seriously doubt someone pays him crazy $ - def wont be the Jets

Yeah, but the weirdo QB will look to Adams, Lazard, Tyler Conklin and then GW. He is that weird.

Not wanting to pay Reddick due to age and hoping to just get one year out of him and let him go and saying he needs "prove" it for a new contract are two totally different things. He's already proven it. But, as I said before, it is gross mismanagement by the Jets to even trade for Reddick who they KNEW was looking for a new deal and then expect him to play out his contract. If he was willing to play out his contract, he'd still be in Philly.

its been covered - seems like there was miscommunication or misrepresentation by one or both sides. Jets felt that he would come in and play on his deal. Obviously that wasnt the case and/or something changed. Regardless it really doesnt matter much to the Jets as he has to come in at some point or he is stuck for another year. Trust me no Jet fan is waiting on Reddick at this point

If your point is the Jets shouldnt have made the deal without a firm contract/written guarantee - probably true but lots of these things are done by the honor system. Being fired by CAA leads me to believe they think Reddick is in the wrong as agents rarely fire clients. But who cares at this point - Reddick is losing a prime earning year as he enters 30 yrs old and Jets have nothing to show for it - As for the 3rd rder in 2026 - whatever - they'll either trade him for something or he leaves and they'll get a comp pick.

Trust me the Jets have much bigger issues than Reddick!

As we have now discovered the last two seasons with L. Tomlinson and T. Smith - these old stud players fall off a cliff quickly sometimes.
Can add Mike Williams to that list, although he was never really a stud - just a few very good years. And gimpy from an ACL tear when he never had much separation ability to begin with.

Half The Jets roster reminds me of the Kevin Hart, LaBron James commercial
Where LaBron says he's going take the offer from The NFL
And Hart says "They want somebody who can run the 40,not someone who IS 40!"
