Not really a shocker.  What is left of the Hulman fortune is being liquidated for cash.   Penske has more passion for the sport and has a ton of respect for the history.   It is all good.  

It was pretty common knowledge that the Hulman-George family was looking for a buyer, especially after selling off Clabber Girl recently.  Penske is the best of all possible outcomes for the sport and its fans.

So I guess the day to day operations of the racing team will be turned over to someone else. Surely he can't run the series and the team at the same time. 

Penske is stepping down from the pitbox after 50+ years.  He'll still be the owner of Team Penske but his Indycar operation will be run by others, like his NASCAR team and other teams in other race series.

I went to the 500 every year from late 80's to mid-90's. I grew up with the Kentucky Derby and didn't expect to be impressed. I expected to love it, but I didn't think that it would compare to Derby Week here in Louisville.

I was wrong. It was mad - in a good way.

I never knew much about car racing (I'm a motorcycle guy), but that didn't matter at all. The people were great. The town is cool. The atmosphere was incredible.

So, do ya think Penske will reinstate the burning of cars in the infield?
