Love or hate one or both, the annual meeting of these perrenial powers simply oozes with much of what we love about the NFL; meaningful games, bitter rivalaries, quality teams, playoff intensity, big hits, big plays and almost always close exciting games.

How about the trolls give this thread a rest and allow this matchup the reverence it deserves.

INDY wins because:

Manning - Not only is BB out of his head; now the tables have turned and it might just be Manning who is in BBs head.

Better D - Particularly in pass defense

The Trend - Indy has won 4 of last 5

NE wins because:

Brady - Does his performance in Pitt suggest he might be back at the top of his game?

Home Field - The game is at home and outdoors; both of those factors would seem to favor NE.

Timing - NE appears to be the healthier team.

Who wins?

Why?

Both teams have been hit by injuries, but the Pats seem to have dealt with theirs better. Edge to the Pats.

On the other hand, Manning seems to have been able to will the team to win at times this year, so I wouldn't count them out.

Being a Colts fan, I hate to say this, but I'm thinking the Pats will win. Too many Colts injuries and I don't like the look of Peyton's passes lately. He just doesn't seem to be on anymore.

Voted with my heart, but Indy is too banged up.

Their hope is that Collie plays and plays well. I think this frees everyone else up. Manning should put up numbers.

NE will look to run against a weak Colts rush D. I think this keeps the score down.

The team that wins is the one who gets a 2 score lead.

Pats 27-23

or

Colts 31-27

Watch as the Colts take early FGs instead of pressing for 7. Halftime Pats 14 Colts 9.

Colts coaches have zero balls, win or lose!

Surprised the vote has NE in a landslide.

I'm a hardcore pats fan and until I see them beat Manning I'm skeptical. The last few years it's all been Manning.

It's going to be a little chilly here in NE today. That plus Colts being undermanned. Maybe NE can pull it out.

Pats win by an eye-opening margin.

The Colts are a middling team this year with their injuries and lack of running game, and the Pats looks rejuvenated and ready for a Superbowl run.

Payton looked like a frustrated and washed up Brett Favre last week - and as a Patriots fan, that really scares me since I know he'll be elite well into his 50's!

I don't know, but I'm gearing up for the trip down to the game. For the past 8 years the Pats/Colts game has been the marquee matchup of the NFL IMHO. Locally in Boston I have heard people say they are looking forward to the Jets game as much as this Colts game this year, but not me. The only sports related analogy I can compare the Pats/Colts games to is the Old Magic/Bird games of the 80's. Fans from BOTH teams should count their blessings we get to see this matchup today.

7 years from now we will talking about these games as we endlessly bicker about what HOF QB is better.

As an outsider I think the Pats win with little problem. I was expecting Peyton to come into Philly and roll us rather easily, but I didn't see the usual Peyton that day. They're too banged up and the Pats are back after being embarrassed in Cleveland two weeks ago. They'll be up for this game, they're home, and Peyton may be short some weapons. Pats 31-17.

Colts can't run and can't stop the run. So, Manning will have to throw while Brady will throw when it fits to do so. This usually means the turnover battle will be won by New England. Game is in New England, outdoors, not in the comfy dome Indy likes. I like the Pats in this one.

It's clear and blue here in NE.... but it is already cold. sub 30 by the end of the game is what I'm expectiong.

OK, they're super good, just not against the doormats of the NFL. Got it.
Did you hurt your arm with that stretch? Pittsburgh and San Diego are doormats? Manning is a doormat? They just made him look stupid.

Did you miss the request by the OP to refrain from being a hammer here? I was referring to the Browns, who I referenced earlier.

Have a nice day. :waves:
