Inexpensive wireless backup camera options? (1 Viewer)

NeverEnough

Looking to add an inexpensive wireless backup camera to one of my cars. I'd like to go the mirror monitor route.

I know there are a couple good models for around $110, but I'm cheap so I'd rather not spend that if I can avoid it. Any of these $40 or so varieties any good?

I did a wired one because I read that there's a lag with wireless.  My primary reason is safety, so I didn't want a lag.

I did it twice, actually - once in a Honda Fit, once in a Honda Element.  It's not too tough.  Each was about $60 or so including both camera and GPS-sized monitor.

Youtube is good at this.

Wirecutter has a good review and recommendations.  https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-backup-camera-and-displays/

It's not much extra work.

Regardless of whether you're wired or wireless, you have to wire power to the camera, which you'll probably take from your brake light.  Getting from the brake light to the camera is the most annoying part, since you'll have to go through some kind of sealed grommet where wires are run.  You'll also need to find a ground, which can be annoying.

You also have to wire up power in the front of your car to the monitor, which you'll probably get in a tap off your fuse box.  Also need a ground here.

If you're wired, you need to run an RCA cable from the camera to the monitor.  That's another pull through the grommet, but the routing through the car is easy.
