Infinite New York football Giants (2025 same as it ever was) (2 Viewers)

betting against them for the rest of the yr. Starting Devito over Jones and Lock is simply to sell tickets and not win games. The kid is fun, but holds onto the ball way too long
Giant games are sold out for many years
There are no tickets to sell
But it is a money move
A Jones injury would cost the team

You still make money on parking and concessions.
Right
And every game is sold out
So
That means there are fans buying concessions and paying for parking

Just because a ticket is sold doesn't mean the person goes to the game.
From personal experience I can tell you there are fannies in the seats
Now with each game there are more and more visiting team jerseys on those fannies
But still, they are real people, paying for parking and concessions

I get benching Jones. He hasn't been good, they are moving on and don't want to get stuck with that injury guarantee.
Starting Devito over Lock seems like a ****ty dickhead move. Lock has been the #2 QB all season long, including the last game the Giants played before the bye.
Now when it's time to play the #2 QB they bypass him for the guy who has been the #3 QB all season long

I totally understand why the Giants want to bench Daniel Jones to avoid guaranteeing his contract for next season if he gets injured. But honestly, if Drew Lock has been the backup QB all season, starting Tommy DeVito sounds like the Giants want to tank even further. In the spirit of competition and playing your best players, it seems like the Giants are violating that principle.

During Hard Knocks, the Giants' GM and coaches stressed augmenting the offensive line, and from what I've seen, they've failed miserably. The offensive line looks more like a sieve than a wall, letting defenders through like they're on a VIP list. And let's not forget the brilliant decision to let Saquon Barkley walk. Because who needs a top-tier running back when you can have a revolving door of mediocrity?

Brian and Joe need to go. Their decision-making skills are about as sharp as a butter knife, and their ability to build a competitive team is as effective as a screen door on a submarine. It's time for a change before the Giants sink any further into the abyss of NFL irrelevance.

Drew Lock is asked about not being named the starting quarterback after Daniel Jones was benched when he was told he'd be the backup:

"That's a question that I might still have for myself. It was expressed to me that I was going to be QB2. Interesting situation.."

This smells like the end of Daboll as the NYG HC. Too many players complaining and/or questioning out load.

Daniel Jones spent part of the open portion of practice wearing a red scout team jersey lined up at safety during an offensive install period. He was joined on the scout team D by some practice squad OL, TE coach Tim Kelly, assistant QB coach Christian Jones and offensive assistant Christian Daboll.

Would love to see him twist an ankle and get paid out

I think the injury clause is that it has to be some injury that would take him into next season to rehad... like an ACL or something; just a simple trip to IR wouldn't be enough

Correct, no professional NY sports is hurting at ticket sells; even with them constantly raising prices on a meh product, season ticket holder will pay. Now the problem is those ticket holders have been getting crap in return for those ticket in the market. They call radio stations, they send letters and etc. The owners are also proud and much rather Giant fans in the building than traveling team fans. Starting Devito over Lock is just to put bring some fans back into the building even if its just for a game or 2.

I'm no DJones fan. Seems a nice guy. Poor QB. But the NYG playing him a S for the scout team ... that is some nasty ****z. Head coach and GM are a travesty. And the guy at the top is endorsing them by keeping them. Mara better get his head right and ditch those guys ASAP

Schoen and Daboll have got to go. I don't see how either of them can come back with any credibility next year at this point.

I dont know why Jones couldnt have just waived the injury clause if he wanted to play?
He's not going to colect on it regardless

Jones has been awful. Even if he waived the injury clause it was time to move on. Drew Lock has been dreadful in camp, during preseason action and regular season action. Bypassing a 1-year mercenary QB with zero chance of returning next year to give DeVito an extended look makes perfect sense. Devito needs to prove he is worthy of coming back next year. If he bombs you are rid of all 3 and re-invent the QB room entirely next season.

My Illini are playing at Rutgers tomorrow so maybe some of my fellow alums will stick around another way to see Tommy play :excited:

Interesting. You think at this point inconspicuous tanking should be the priority for the Giants. I will be suspicious if Devito looks like Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.

It's not if he bombs, it's when he bombs.
They will likely get a little burst from the change to Devito and the bye week which will kill their Draft position.
I expect the Giants to win the next 2 games and then lose out the rest of the season end up with pick 9-10
Dallas will pick before the Giants and grab whoever we were hoping to get

Giants won't beat The Bucs
Maybe Dallas on Turkey Day
But that's it
I see 3 wins
But if Schoen is still GM the pick will be wasted anyway

Hope the Jones haters got what they wanted.

What they all seem to have missed was the fact while isn't exactly the second coming of Joe Montana, he was better than anyone else they had. He was always just a bit better than the other options. That says more about the options that it does about Jones.

Wake me up for the draft. Bah.

You're missing the point. Jones was a complete dead end and the team was destined for multiple 3-to-5 win seasons. The Giants needed to admit they flubbed the pick/paying him any money two years ago and fire the necessary FO people. Paying Jones set back the franchise years, and now they need to go full reset.

Who were the better options two years ago?

They knew and know Jones wasn't the answer. The answer wasn't available then and I don't think it is available in this next draft.

Jones is an easy target, but there are so many holes on this team it is insane. Who was to blame for today's embarrassment? Jones' salary did not preclude them from picking other players.

100% tanking.

.... wtf yes it did. How can you say that?

It meant not paying actual contributors like Saquon (who propped up the whole O), Julian Love (solid safety/jack of all trades who went to Seattle) and later on Xavier McKinney (star safety who is balling out in Green Bay). This isn't counting some of the other guys who walked in between that period.

They've quit
I gave them one win the rest of the way on Turkey Day
Not now
2 win season
Great draft pick next year
A gaggle of idiots making the pick
Until Schoen and Daboll's name plates are removed
Next year will be more of the same sh!t

... sometimes I look back at the part of the Giants thread 1) after they re-signed Jones 2) franchised Barkley and 3) basically ignored him on FA and he signed with the Iggles... I read the replies and just laugh to myself at the Giants FO people/people on this forum who believed "Y'know, this is a good idea. SURELY paying the mediocre QB and stringing along the elite RB propping everyone up won't fail!"

Giants won't even get a compensatory pick for Saquon because they signed too many FAs per overthecap

Me right now...

When key players like Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney are not re-signed, it can create uncertainty and concern among other players on the team. It sends a message that no one is indispensable, which might affect team morale and players' commitment.

For management, retaining homegrown talent can be crucial for maintaining team stability and fostering a strong team culture. It shows a commitment to the players who have developed and contributed under the team's system. Re-signing key players also keeps the core of the team intact, which is essential for long-term success.

Balancing the salary cap, player performance, and future potential can be challenging, but keeping your top talent, especially those you've drafted and developed, often pays off.

Giants just always seem to land in the wrong draft spots in Good QB years and Great draft spots in bad QB years

On the brite side ... After being in Schoen / Daboll purgatory for the 1st half of the Season the Giants were forced to play Evan Neal who over his first 2 starts has an 80.9 PFF rating which is easily the best of all Giants Olinemen including Andrew Thomas 75.4
Neals Elite Run Blocking Grade 93.4 would easily be the best in the NFL ... above Penei Sewell's 90.2

So our one bright spot heading into week 13 of the 2024 season is Evan Neal
Cheese and Rice
If it were funny I'd laugh
I'm going to sleep now
When I wake up on the Monday after the last week of the regular season
I expect to read that Schoen and Daboll and everyone else under them has been fired
If I don't read that I am burning somebody's season tickets
And hiring a plane to fly a banner over Metlife Stadium saying...
"We've Had Enough"
It worked once,I know because I was there
Can't hurt to try again

I don't see how Schoen and Daboll survive this, other than a situation where Mara said Jones is the guy this year ....his quote "we've done all we can to screw him up" ..... and told Daboll/Schoen they were safe this year. That's probably even a bigger problem if that happened. Mara has been awful with the hiring decisions.

The players really looked even more checked out yesterday than usual. What a mess this organization is.

How in the world do they let Saquon leave. He gave them every opportunity to sign him to what he’s worth. They could have franchised him again. He was the franchise. He is the NFL MVP right now playing for Philadelphia Eagles. There is no way to forgive Joe and Brian for this. Yes, the owners are to blame too. However, there is nothing that can be done about that. What a nightmare.

After watching Hard Knocks
And seeing and hearing what Shoen had to say about Barkley and his rational for it
He lost me
I only hope Mara sees the same
Another year of this regime will set us back another 3 years
Please John, from Schoen on down, fire them the Monday after the last regular season week.

Other than the on the field production, you want a guy like Barkley in the locker room. Great guy, great teammate, well respected. Who is Malik Nabers looking to for veteran leadership on that team right now?

Barkley doing what he’s doing will get the GM fired just like Robinson with the Titans once they saw AJ brown dominate. It’s flat out embarrassing
