As part of our interview series, Clayton Gray has agreed to take the best of the input in this thread and ask Joe and I a series of questions.

We did this a few years ago: Old Interview

So don't be shy and ask away. These questions and answers will be formatted as a free article on the Footballguys website.

This thread will stay open for three business days.

For Joe:Always wondered with kids/family, a boat business and part owner of FBG what is your typical day like during football season?

I would like to know what you would do in the event that the NFL goes on strike?, Has that even entered your mind? Not just business wise, but more mindset wise.

What was the single best or most important contribution each of you think you have made relating to the fantasy football industry?

We all know you guys are among the best in the business of fantasy football. Who do you guys respect and pay attention to, in terms of the way they run their sites, magazines, etc?

What is the pressure like for deadlines on days like Mon/Tue mornings right after the week, or Wed/Thurs nights before the games start that weekend? I have to think it is gut wrenching some weeks to get all that info out, on time, and keep it top quality like you all do.

How exciting is it to wake up on Sunday Mornings and go into the message boards and see thousands of people milling about getting info for the games, and knowing you created this forum for them to gather all that knowledge at?

#1 - You guys are always doing great things to improve the site each year. Where do you see Footballguys.com headed 5-10 years down the line to stay above and beyond the competition? Do you see additions such as league software in your future?

#2 - Do you ever feel like the business aspect of running Footballguys.com takes away from the pure enjoyment of just watching NFL football?

Many of us on this board are sold on the concept of VBD, but not everyone (ex, RB Stud Theory). What do you and the staff watch for as far as trends in the way the game of football is played, and how might those impact your approach going forward?

Q could be for Joe B, DD, or Carlton-Looking back, thoughts on the newsgroup?

What percent of today's FF theories do you think were debated there 10 years ago?

I've gone in there and found some terrific debates between Joe B and Greg Kellogg. One specifically involved Joe B, GK, Conqui, Beal, and a guy from Fanex which I always forget his name Mark.... Anyhow, Joe B there were some especially good debates between some especially good FF minds. I assume any refining to your VBD theory stemmed from those debates, did it?

How many hours do you dedicate to the business?

Does having your opinions and projections and sleepers "out there" negatively affect your teams' performance in the leagues in which you partipate? (i.e. Do you lose out on players because you've hyped them on your site?)

What are the challenges in managing a staff that is so spread out geographically?

When will FBG have live event drafts, like show up and draft featuring beverages and Joe's BBQ?

How big is your backyard?

Do you still enjoy playing fantasy football or is it just a business for you now?

Do you actually watch the football games or just your favorite team?

What is the most unpleasant part of your job?

What do you do to get through the grind of the business?

Does your wife or significant other like football or are they fed up with it all?

How many times has your wife or significant other decided for you which player to take or rank higher?

Why did you sell your soul by adding banner ads to the message boards?

I know I'm going to get slammed for this, but:

I know a lot of people love the Black-eyed Joe logo, but any chance of getting a different logo? One more "professional"?

:bag:

What was the tipping point during the cheetsheet.com days that made you transition from a free website into a pay site? I guess what I am looking for is what made you toke this from a hobby to a business?

Boxers or briefs?

Hey, if it's a good enough question for the commander-in-chief, it's good enough for you guys. :lmao:

1. Do you guys feel bad when you can't ever beat your subscribers in leagues head to head like me? :homer:

2. With all the profits you share footing contests is there really much a profit for you guys

when all is said and done?

Serious questions:

What concepts do you have for footballguys members, currently unavailable, that will peak interest or bring something new to the table for fantasy? This season? Next season? I pretty much want to know all your secrets. haha

What insane out of the box concept will drop jaws for your members or the entire industry will be copy catting? Even if you don't have the current capabilites...i just want to hear about it.

Whats the next revolutionary platform(gaming or information outlet) for fantasy football or fantasy sports in general?

What are your biggest concerns, negatively, for your company or industry? Competitors?

Does FBG have any plans to provide more coverage of the various high stakes events? Would FBG ever consider putting together a composite rankings of the top high stakes players?

Which set of rankings is used to create the player cost for the annual subscriber contest? How many people are involved in the development of those player costs? Really enjoy that contest every year!

Ive always been curious from a business and bottom line standpoint, how profitable (if at all) stories like Brett Favre unretiring or New England's Spygate scandal/chasing the undefeated season are for Footballguys? Do relatively sustaining, hot button topics like those really make an impact in the success of your business here on the site? Thanks for considering.
